Great episode! Here in the UK, my TH-cam seems to show me so many ads, about 6-10 through an episode, some without the skip option. However it is well worth it with the entertainment and laughter you give. Alex doing Marty and Doc quotes is hysterical 🤣🤣 I sometimes listen to Bricking News and AFoOL Podcast whilst in the gym and with the Back to the Future quotes and Earl's continuous laughter, I get some strange looks as I appear to laugh out loud for no reason and crashing the weight stack down when my laughter is just too much 😂 Keep up the great chat and news!👍
Thanks for showing my video. 😊 I had a lot of fun making it. The color sensors are still available in the Netherlands. If you are interested and need help with programming in the lego poweredup app, let me know 😋
You have a great looking setup. I have been enjoying making rebrickable MOCs lately, especially with that 3-in-1 castle. And yeah, they've taken at least 5 sponsor videos from me (including) this week, so they must be desperate. 🤣
Thanks for the endorsement and shout out lol 😄 It’s always an honor being mentioned in the bricking news. I also think lego is releasing too many, too fast, too expensive. At some point, it will become too saturated sooner rather than later.
Their endorsement is why I built your model of the botanical garden. I have a few other of your models bookmarked. I have the parts for the tiki surf bar and beekeepers shop, and someday when I'm feeling adventurous, I want to try adding the second level to the bowling alley.
I am glad there are so many themes. It seems Lego’s part budget is spread out so all those themes can generate new parts. Also, those parts can then propagate to other themes in variant colors. Life is good.
Big wheels were before my time! I had a metal fire truck that I climbed into and it had pedals and I think a bell.🔔 I rode it in our neighborhood parades!
When you asked the question about what set you missed - the first thing that popped in my mind was also the original UCS Falcon (2007) and the first run that was limited edition. The had a damaged box one at the store for $350 but I didn’t bite because by then I don’t think I had ever paid more than $200 for a Lego set. I guess I could put all the monorails on the list because I could hold them in my hand at the store but I was never going to afford them back then. For everything I’ve ever missed or passed on, there are so many other things I did get. Fortunate enough to live through many great clearances with low demand. One of my early experiences with toys r us was negative, they had the 7722 4.5v train allegedly on clearance but when I went to check out they said it was full price and refused to budge even though I told them they had signage that indicate there was a sale. I think it was one that should have already been long gone but they still had it and that they were saying the clearance only applied to current stock. It was nonsense. So I missed on buying my first ever Lego train set at that point.
I loved my big wheel!! At 54 I don’t feel old, except when I have to walk up and down stairs, get in and out of my daughters compact car or get down on my knees to reach the back of the bottom kitchen cabinet. The body may not be able to keep up but in my head I can still do cartwheels.
The retiring set I would recommend is the 3-in-1 castle, even if you already have one. There are a ton of great looking MOCs on rebrickable that use 3 or 4 copies of that set.
My friends and I made a big wheel train when I was young! We would remove the front wheel on a couple of big wheels and tie 3 together, and we never injured ourselves! I agree that Lego needs to cut some "themes" or at least put all of these one offs under one section on the website. Keep up the great content!
@44:10 - I assume they probably changed the box art on the Disney Castle too. That one had the 100 anniversary art on it. Great podcast as usual guys !!
18:00 "Now Lance, you look like a tough young pup. Why dont you go ahead, give that a little tear." *wife gives a sideeye of absolute disappointment 😂 i love that movie so much
"If they stop making Jurassic World, where will we get our Lego dinosaurs??" Well let's see, there was the "Dinosaur" theme in 2001, "Dino 2010" and "Dino Attack" in 2005, and "Dino" in 2012, "Adventurers: Dino Island" in 2000, not to mention several cool Creator sets of dinosaurs... To explain about the Tantive IV UCS set, I did get it originally back when it was new, but it was never 'put away' so to speak. It got taken apart, and the pieces got mixed into my collection and built into a dozen different MOCs over the past 20 years. Rebuilding it meant either scrapping those MOCs, or finding replacements for the parts in them.
Hearing you talk about what sets kids enjoy has me realizing a lot of things. Since I have a lot of kids come enjoy my Lego and Duplo collection I get to see how they play. I have a mech in my already built and ready to play bin, the kids love it more than anything. Also a lot of the adults I talk to about my Lego collecting share how much their kids love the mario sets. At brickslopes i bought all the minecraft figures I could to give them to a kid in my life who is obsessed with making Minecraft builds. Lego really does know what they are doing with their kids line
By the time you started talking about the ads I saw 6 unskippable ads. Me and Heather where watching on the TV. Don't know if it matters where you watch as to how many ads you get. Yes, I have no ads during the current episode of the podcast. Once the new episode is up, I go back and turn on mid roll ads on the old episode, but I manually place them every 30 mins or so. I don't look down on your ads, but YT can get carried away with placing a bunch.
Thanks Alex for getting my name right. Earl did botch it, but I’m used to it. The E on the end is silent. 😂. I didn’t leave a comment on the last podcast, so he wouldn’t have to work too hard. 😂 I don’t get many ads in your podcasts, but there are some. Yes, great episode. Only 3 ads. 😅
Oh, I've got one of those missed opportunities for sure. Nothing so big as the UCS Millennium Falcon, or a store diorama, but there was a store where I grew up that often had Lego sets sitting on the shelves looooooong after they were retired. I'm talking years after. I managed to find some Life on Mars sets, Alpha Team sets, and Bionicle sets there. Unfortunately, it's the Bionicle one that I missed out on. It was there, it was marked for clearance, and I (like a dumb) decided not to bother my mom about it when it was $30, and now it sells for $400-800. Another one was the "Shuttle Expedition" space shuttle set. I saved for months to get it, including my Christmas money, and when I called to order it, they said it retired the day before.
Lego should just do whatever Alex says, he would save the company! We stand with you Alex! Adult size Lego Big Wheels for everyone! Everything would be so Oswaldified! By the way, you can't offend Earl, he is an AI simulation.
I’m with Alex, but draw the line at Brickheadz!!!! Haha oh and I’ve been guilty spending $ on the Jurassic dinos at BAMs. 😅 oh and GOOO DODGERS!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh we’ll also remember Freeman’s Grandslam walkoff on game 1
I don't care how many themes LEGO has. I'm never going to buy Gabby's Dollhouse, Mario, or Monkie Kid, but the existence of those themes doesn't bother me. However, if LEGO needs to cancel a theme to start a Star Trek theme, they need to cancel as many themes as that requires.
I am surprised with Super Mario getting new sets. They even have a refresh for the electronic figures this year. And I agree with Jason. DC should just be Batman at this point.
Thanks, that was us. Now you've given me an idea for the next video: a commercial for the lawyers handling the lawsuit for people who had side effects.
I bought two 12v train last year for 280$ Had no plans to begin with 12v before someone ask if I was interested. Now I'm glad I said yes to the offer. I'm really bad saying no 😂😅😊
I remembered when Lego asked Afols for feedback after the change to bluish grey and one of the complaints was extra large boxes with no contents. Waste of cardboard and *SPAAAAACE*. Lego replied to the afols and said what Alex said: box art. The also mentioned store display space and a few other things which was not satisfactory to afols. They have been reducing the sizes of boxes since.
So it was 1997 and I walked into this store, and there was mega core magnetiser. It was November and I told myself let’s wait till payday in a couple of weeks to get it. So a couple of weeks time with my pay check cashed in, I went to the store and guess what? The MCM was gone in only 2 weeks. I was heartbroken. I have got a MCM since but it’s used and not brand new.
1:16:49 I don’t get ads with YT Premium. But maybe not everyone is getting 25 ads, maybe some would get 5, another 6, another 10, all different places, so one person doesn’t get 25, so a total of 25 ads, it is just spreading them differently for each viewer. Make sense?
The 3 printed tiles are the only part of Wall-E that have any significant value. I parted together the whole set for under $100 because I found those 3 tiles for a good price. No box, no instructions.
They should drop the art set, leave that for other people doing those mosaic. Mario should start doing minifig instead of that non brick head figure, or actually make it a brick head with the same scanning barcode feature instead, friends should just combine with city theme, they are now technically doing the same thing
When I was 12 and didn't have a job $200 was a lot of money to me. that's how much a Metroliner I bid on sold for on eBay. I bid $130 or something. now that I'm employed, btw listening from work, $200 is chump change by comparison and the Metroliner in the same used condition sells for 4x the price. the one that got away. There are too many licensed themes not enough IP themes. Bring back the train theme
Minecraft is one of the best selling themes with kids. It's one of the 3 - 4 themes that kids actually like. And no, they don't like Star Wars. Kids in their teens or younger think Star Wars is stupid.
Impuls buying when you see a oh-so-good-once-in-a-lifetime-deal is so dangerously expensive! There is only one cure: Avoyd the internet! 🤪 And Alex is right: Yes, everything is about the Box Art! That is probably more important than the Lego inside - cause when you have build the set you already purchased it before!
Don’t mention the Wicked sets. I’m still annoyed about those, so didn’t give them much thought. I don’t think Lego do to many themes. I have no interest in half the themes so I’d actually like to see more themes. The themes I’d gladly see go are… Star Wars Friends DC Brick heads Sonic Speed champions That’s half the Lego shop gone 😂
Loved the fan commercial at the end!❤❤

A rant in the beginning, a rant at the end. Peak Alex.

Big wheels were before my time! I had a metal fire truck that I climbed into and it had pedals and I think a bell.🔔 I rode it in our neighborhood parades!
Other than modulars, the Ideas Typewriter and the Ideas Jazz Quartet are two of my all-time favorite sets.
I don't get ads in either of your content, and I have a normal free account. Great episode!
So Alex is taking the couch. Excellent. I love it when a plan comes together
Oh my word that sponsor spot had me rolling 😂
Glad you liked it! I felt compelled to let people know there's an alternative to Missitall. 🤣

I was thinking box art was the reason. And then you nailed it Alex.

I never thought about using the color sensors for the tram/trolley. I am way past that now. 😂
I see a lot of ads on these episodes but most on iPhone app are skipable thankfully! It is just annoying.
Ads on the iPhone aren’t horrible, but watching TH-cam on the Apple TV it’s ridiculous with ads lately.
Thanks Alex for getting my name right. Earl did botch it, but I’m used to it. The E on the end is silent. 😂. I didn’t leave a comment on the last podcast, so he wouldn’t have to work too hard. 😂

Yeap, Irish. grew up carving turnips. Not may pumpkins around these parts in the '80's plus they taste way better with cabbage, potatoes and ham.

Watch Scooby Doo on Zombie island. It’s the only one where it’s not someone in a mask
I want to comment but can't remember anything that was said. I might need to take some of those people advertised at the end.
