The graphics and naval gameplay from the Blood and Gold Caribbean one made me think of the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean game. That quick turn away as well with the lady on the bed was priceless Res. Got a good laugh out of me.
I really wish i could play that game but I suck, I tried sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships and the controls are not that great and I could for the life of me never figure out how to win at ship combat especially when you start with a sloop. Sadly this game is so old you cant find newer videos anywhere. Oh I really want to sail the seven seas with my Man-O-Wars but alas that shall never happen.
@@imamish I don't think you're supposed to win any battles early on. Start with trading missions and advance a few levels and get a good amount of money. And then you can start thinking about a more combative career. Also: Ship battles in the pirate age usually didn't go with one ship just sinking the other. Boarding is the key! Maybe you can try the newer Sea Dogs: To Each His Own since it's on steam and there's a community.
A note on Freeman:Guerilla Warfare - The devs I think filed bankruptcy and ditched their whole studio except for the original two guys and they are currently working on a sort of “remake” of the game. Supposedly not dead but we will have to see.
To be fair any attempt of a remaster will have very little trust from the playerbase after what happened whith the original. I truly though that game was goning somewhere. How disapointed was I.

Old retired Conqueror's Blade player here I started back in season 5/6 and felt the exact same way you did, when I was fighting these massive epic battles on the walls of a fort it felt so epic, I felt like some bad-ass warrior able to conquer the world but I also felt like the sum of a greater part, it was incredible, but as I played more and more I felt that wonder fade away and slowly replace a sense of tactical strategy. This sense of tactical strategy would quickly fade when me and my entire team was curb stomped by 10 units of T5 cav, and 5 units of whatever overpowered seasonal troop the devs added. I quit about a year ago because it was way to much to deal with, battles didn't seam well organized anymore, they just felt like slaughter fests of whoever unlocked the seasonal troop the quickest, old seasonal troops where basically obsolete after the new troops where unlocked leaving your barracks looking like an old toy chest from your childhood. I can safely say as someone with 2300+ hours, 2200 hours wasted, 100 hours enjoyed.
I played when the game first came out, the initial wars between guilds once you could take territory was an amazing time. The politics and organisation reminded me of my eve online days and was something I never expected from a game like conquerors blade.
He forgot to mention that in BCOF you can make trenches. You can terraform the map in that game. Plus you can chop trees down to get a better line sight for your cannons.
Tiger Knight was my first proper experience of a M&B clone. I managed to grab a mate and me and him absolutely loved throwing our men in huge clumps right in to smaller player numbers that tried running around on their own. I loved using the longest pike I could get a hold of and poking over the top of my units' heads. The kill animations on other players was awesome every time.
What I would love to see, is a bannerlord single player, game based on the Civil War, Napoleonic, wars, World War I, etc. much respect to the multiplayer side of things, but would also like to see that single player experience get some love.
Holdfast will always remain my personal favorite especially for the hilarious community you don't find communities like Holdfast's too often but that's what makes the game special and I'm glad the game it's still played a lot even frontlines gets lots of players occasionally. BCOF was quite special too, joined in the demo then stayed for release but it died multiple times with each update (still a few events though). *But excellent video here Resonant so many wonderful games from Mount and blade its amazing how big it's impact is.*
i put 3+ years into holdfast ~2017-2020, specifically linebattles. I've been in a couple regiments, in leadership positions, who at the time were some of the largest. I racked up 1200 hours before i stopped playing it. Although i wish we had back then what holdfast is today, through the good times, bad times, and drama, it is a game i hold in my heart. Times were just different then. Frontlines was extremely enjoyable too. They have done well for what they had. that frontlines trailer gives me goosebumps every time ive heard it. Every once in a blue moon i go join up for a linebattle with the regiment i retired in just for that nostalgia of being the first person to die every round in the linebattle.
Freeman Guerilla Warfare is a bit of a tragic story of development but there is reason to believe it hasn't been abandoned it's just going through difficulties. Essentially the dev team had the core of the game up and brought in help to continue work while they moved on to start new titles. Unfortunately the new members took the game in a different direction than the dev team originally envisioned, so they were fired and the dev team was forced to begin a complete overhaul of the game. At the same time they couldn't abandon the other titles they had already started work on so it's left them in a tough position where they have to juggle multiple games with fewer members and the overhaul needs significant time before it becomes a functional game. In the meantime the buggy and unfinished previous version is left up so people have something to play, but it's definitely not what the game is meant to be. They now have competition from Total Conflict Resistance but from what I've seen so far of that game the two games are different enough that there should still be room for them to coexist successfully. I wouldn't throw money at Freeman Guerilla Warfare until we see tangible progress being made but I don't take the current silence as a sign it's been abandoned, I expect it to take quite some time before there's progress they can really show off.

War Of Rightes is one of my all time favorite games some great units for anyone looking to play are 27th Virgina "give them steel" and 2nd US Sharpshooters "Greenwave"
Goddamn, I own most of these games and I genuinely forgot why I owned these games NOW it all makes sense. I had an unhealthy obsession with MnB as a kid and got as many games that gave me a slight feel for this game. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood lol
While I admire your dedication to playing every single clone, you technically missed one. Tales of Glory is a Mount and Blade clone for VR. The VR aspect creates many technical limitations: battles are smaller and the AI is poor, and while the actual combat physics are decent (arguably better than other games in this video), they aren't Blade and Sorcery. But it is the only game out there for VR that accurately captures the M&B experience, and actually being able to charge alongside your troops is great fun. Plus, it's made by a solo developer, so limitations can be forgiven. Sadly, it's single player only and the last update was 2021, so it's basically dead, but if you have a VR headset it's fun to check out.
A mixture between Mount and Blade along with Battle Brothers seems great to me but is probably hard to implement, random events on the world map with hex tile battles plus equipment crafting.
I played Freeman a lot, I missed when they had vehicles. Always kept a mortar halftrack in my army for in direct fire support. Worked wonders when paired with a sniper team.
Sands of Salzaar is a strange cross between Mount & Blade and Diablo. It's actually pretty good, but it can get very repetitive very quickly as most of the battles take place on a single map per region.
Ship combat, destructible environments, immersive and dramatic lighting, faces that look like human beings rather than googly eyed tatties... Taleworlds could stand to learn a thing or two from these games.

Conquers blade really needs new players, so many different units and hero’s and ways to build them. The game is really fun with multiple different modes and the best it has to offer comes from when you join a house and do lots of mmo stuff.

Holdfast is still going fairly strong, AGS just released a huge update. I strictly play in regimental events so idk why the public side is like but there's still a thriving community of people who play the game.

exelent video! just wanted to make an aclaration, Conqueror's Blade is a great game in it's mechanics, and it's true that everything can be unlocked trough grinding, tons and tons of it, it plays based on seasons, an each season presents a new tematic set of units (romans, vikings, medieval knights, etc) the main issue of the playerbase with it and the reason of it's constant decline in population is that each season the new units are insanely broken to the point of having one button "i win" skills, wich is a strategy from the developers to force players to go for the new units, and with insane grinds to unlock them you either get them free at the end of the season by grinding 3-5 hours a day for a month, or pay to get them instantly, with many players buying them so they can wreck everyone with them, making those players that don't pay unable to even stand close to the units without dying to a sneeze
They also haven't introduced a new region or full sized maps in years. Its just to repetitive, same maps, same houses, but new units and tweeks to old.
Ah, Prime & Load! That brings back some good memories... and bad ones. I managed to get my regiment-clan to switch over once it released and we were very fond of it, but sadly due to a bad launch, we quickly became the only ones to play it. And now its all down and we had to go back to Holdfast, which in turn is not up to our standards of historical accuracy and gameplay... I'd be down for a P&L commander event!
Tiger Knight Empire war will forever be one of my most favorite games to have ever existed, now as far as I know all EU and NA servers have been taken down but it is still possible to play the game on Chinese servers (play at your own risk)

Fantastic video. I've tried a lot of these games and most of them fail to capture that inherent... I don't know what to call it... scale, or depth that games like Warband had. Shit, not even Bannerlord captured the immersion and interested I had in Warband. It's still fantastic but has fallen short. I think community mod support is a big factor, having a good base game to expand on. Mount and Blade was the first and why try and base an entire game off of just that being a mod? Won't happen. It's a solid game concept though and I really hope to see more games like it in the future, preferably big RTS RPGs.
I feel like there's one game that is missing on this list that deserves mentioning but cannot be revisited because the game was shut down by its developers: War of the Roses (2012) by Fatshark.

for me the phrase Clone is not in it self bad. because lets face it more or less any FPS game made in early 2000 was ether a HL clone or a COD clone. almost all MMO after world of warcraft was relesed was a wow clone. that said if your clone is this 1 year old game we will make no or minimal changes that's bad. we are going to make a clone of this 10 year old game fix the stuff that have aged badly read the review and fix the problem that reviewer pointed out (bit lazy but I allow it plus that old game might not even be playable now... curse you Longshark engine and your C++ code abuse of memory state in order to gain 8 frames per second (landing you back then at 60FPS) but cause the game to be locked at 12 FPS today because windows 10/8 dont allow/support that memory state abuse anymore). we will make a clone of this game and do this long list of changes perfectly fine.

I spent a lot of time in Blood of Steel which is quite some fun. Actually it is a really good game for being free to play and not pay to win at all. However the playerbase is unfortunately not so big, so on certain times it will be hard to find a match against players
Huh. So, I think of mount & blade likes, I think of starsector and battle brothers. Using the same core loop(Mercinary rpg/sim with a customized retinue, low/no story, economics focused on looting/questing and interacting with a responsive market), but a very different genre/setting. Wild how much that game inspired.
there is a mobile game that came out around 2010 called "Lord And Master" even though i was quite young i had more fun on this game then any other mobiles game at the time, although its graphics were really bad and the company that owns it got shut down; the style of the game and the gameplay was always incredibly fun in my opinion
Honestly if anyone wanna makes a Prime and load game, id think setting it during the 7 yrs war would be a much smarter idea. Like you get all the appeal of the napoleonic era and the 18th century feel. Maybe with some single player stuff with a multiplayer put on the side like Mount and blade having people get dragged in by the single player before forming clans and regiments in the multi player.

The Viking way has soooooooo much potential but once you get to “late game” it feels like the game makes you die, takes your ships and your towns and just strips you down to nothing, im convinced it’s actually impossible to win in the code, if you die you lose everything and restart the game from scratch
I think TCR told in their latest update notes that they are planning a major update and thus slowdown. My main problem with the game is lack of self-sufficient generals (I think they plan adding them) and some sketchiness in battles.
"Enlisted" might qualify for this list. You lead a small group of AI driven men and there are some equipment options but both within certain parameters. It's an infantry focused spin off from War Thunder (it still does have vehicles though)

How is WoR a clone of Mount and Blade? I get some of their devs worked as modders originally for it, but there's not really anything else that connects the two of them and this is coming from somewhat that has over a thousand hours in each.

I had a blast with Blood and Gold Caribbean back when it came out. Since it was the same engine as warband you could even copy your character over
a little work on some quests and maybe more ship physics and it would have been a 10/10

Viking Conquest is technically also a clone, created by diffrent developers but the game can be purchased as a warband DLC.

Holdfast is still going fairly strong, AGS just released a huge update. I strictly play in regimental events so idk why the public side is like but there's still a thriving community of people who play the game.

exelent video! just wanted to make an aclaration, Conqueror's Blade is a great game in it's mechanics, and it's true that everything can be unlocked trough grinding, tons and tons of it, it plays based on seasons, an each season presents a new tematic set of units (romans, vikings, medieval knights, etc) the main issue of the playerbase with it and the reason of it's constant decline in population is that each season the new units are insanely broken to the point of having one button "i win" skills, wich is a strategy from the developers to force players to go for the new units, and with insane grinds to unlock them you either get them free at the end of the season by grinding 3-5 hours a day for a month, or pay to get them instantly, with many players buying them so they can wreck everyone with them, making those players that don't pay unable to even stand close to the units without dying to a sneeze
They also haven't introduced a new region or full sized maps in years. Its just to repetitive, same maps, same houses, but new units and tweeks to old.
Napoleonic wars has rocket ships that fly to the international space station, and the moon on Tropical Paradise, so there can only be one.

Ah, Prime & Load! That brings back some good memories... and bad ones. I managed to get my regiment-clan to switch over once it released and we were very fond of it, but sadly due to a bad launch, we quickly became the only ones to play it. And now its all down and we had to go back to Holdfast, which in turn is not up to our standards of historical accuracy and gameplay...
I'd be down for a P&L commander event!
Tiger Knight Empire war will forever be one of my most favorite games to have ever existed, now as far as I know all EU and NA servers have been taken down but it is still possible to play the game on Chinese servers (play at your own risk)

Naval Action is also a game very similar to Mount&Blade and is a lot of fun for those who like ships in the 18th century
Fantastic video. I've tried a lot of these games and most of them fail to capture that inherent... I don't know what to call it... scale, or depth that games like Warband had. Shit, not even Bannerlord captured the immersion and interested I had in Warband. It's still fantastic but has fallen short.
I think community mod support is a big factor, having a good base game to expand on. Mount and Blade was the first and why try and base an entire game off of just that being a mod? Won't happen.
It's a solid game concept though and I really hope to see more games like it in the future, preferably big RTS RPGs.

because lets face it more or less any FPS game made in early 2000 was ether a HL clone or a COD clone.
almost all MMO after world of warcraft was relesed was a wow clone.
that said if your clone is this 1 year old game we will make no or minimal changes that's bad.
we are going to make a clone of this 10 year old game fix the stuff that have aged badly read the review and fix the problem that reviewer pointed out (bit lazy but I allow it plus that old game might not even be playable now... curse you Longshark engine and your C++ code abuse of memory state in order to gain 8 frames per second (landing you back then at 60FPS) but cause the game to be locked at 12 FPS today because windows 10/8 dont allow/support that memory state abuse anymore).
we will make a clone of this game and do this long list of changes perfectly fine.

I spent a lot of time in Blood of Steel which is quite some fun. Actually it is a really good game for being free to play and not pay to win at all. However the playerbase is unfortunately not so big, so on certain times it will be hard to find a match against players
Huh. So, I think of mount & blade likes, I think of starsector and battle brothers. Using the same core loop(Mercinary rpg/sim with a customized retinue, low/no story, economics focused on looting/questing and interacting with a responsive market), but a very different genre/setting. Wild how much that game inspired.

there is a mobile game that came out around 2010 called "Lord And Master" even though i was quite young i had more fun on this game then any other mobiles game at the time, although its graphics were really bad and the company that owns it got shut down; the style of the game and the gameplay was always incredibly fun in my opinion

Honestly if anyone wanna makes a Prime and load game, id think setting it during the 7 yrs war would be a much smarter idea. Like you get all the appeal of the napoleonic era and the 18th century feel. Maybe with some single player stuff with a multiplayer put on the side like Mount and blade having people get dragged in by the single player before forming clans and regiments in the multi player.

so are all these multiplayer? I'm confused, it seems like you are comparing games that are like mount and blade but i cant tell if any of them are like the single player or not.
The Viking way has soooooooo much potential but once you get to “late game” it feels like the game makes you die, takes your ships and your towns and just strips you down to nothing, im convinced it’s actually impossible to win in the code, if you die you lose everything and restart the game from scratch

I think TCR told in their latest update notes that they are planning a major update and thus slowdown. My main problem with the game is lack of self-sufficient generals (I think they plan adding them) and some sketchiness in battles.

"Enlisted" might qualify for this list. You lead a small group of AI driven men and there are some equipment options but both within certain parameters. It's an infantry focused spin off from War Thunder (it still does have vehicles though)

How is WoR a clone of Mount and Blade? I get some of their devs worked as modders originally for it, but there's not really anything else that connects the two of them and this is coming from somewhat that has over a thousand hours in each.
