For anyone interested to the 3 pin AUX connector (seen at 1:37) it is Sumitomo 3 pin MT090 sealed Motorcycle Connector part codes 6187-3231 (Male) / 6180-3241 (Female) You would need the Male part as the Female connector is on the bike wiring harness side.
Followed your instructions to the letter. I am usually not very capable, but by doing it exactly as you showed, it worked perfectly. Thanks very much, even though you did the video 3 years ago, it helped me a lot, especially about the brown wire!! From Canada 🇨🇦
dear. your publication was the only one I found. Congratulations for the initiative. I followed the instructions and managed to install gps perfectly on xt 1200. Thank you very much for your idea. Hug. Sorry if the text is not perfect, my knowledge in this language is limited.
So the red wire in the connector goes to battery/always on per, but the brown was ignition accessory (only on when turning bike on). Thanks you for the detailed video!!
The 4 pin square AUX connector is a Sumitomo HD 090 part codes 6187-4441 (Male) 6180-4181 (Female). You would need the Male part as the Female connector is on the bike wiring harness side. Out
I can imagine, so I congratulate him. The bike manual here in Brazil, I do not know in other countries, does not make any reference to installation using this plug already ready. The Yamaha dealerships are not familiar either.
Very good video. Looks like the red is battery direct 12+ and the brown is after ignition 12+. Very useful plug indeed. You mention you got the PIAA also connceted. Where those are connected to ?
Last owner connected them straight to battery but there is other plug like this for gps and is made for piaa lights. You can buy from same website. Glad I helped you with this video.
Thanks for the effort to share this instructive video! On another note, in your opinion, are the side winglets worth installing? Also, would you recommend changing the OEM windshield and if yes, what would you suggest? What about an aftermarket bracket system (e.g., Madstad)? Thanks again.
@@PolishTarget Many thanks. You mean the brackets are all similar, or windshields? - I am 6'2" and get some buffeting at the top of my helmet. I heard good things about the VStream or Puig screens, but then Craig from the Living off the Slab channel claimed the bracket system makes the most difference (I think he put a 60% number on the total amount of improvement from a new bracket and windscreen on his Super Tenere). I am trying to make sense of this all and only invest in what makes sense (like the winglets it seems - thanks!).
Is that a GIVI crash bar on your bike? If it is how do you like it? Also, is it pretty easy to pull the panel off to get to the battery? Thanks. I am looking for a crash bar that will protect the bike from a tip over or a possible crash.
I don't really know what brand is it. Last owner installed. He putted minimum 10 things from touratech so maybe it's from there. It's kind of hard to pull this panel without scratching but I dropped my bike twice and saved from more damage . Only crash bar was scratched but I got flat black paint spray from home depot and repainted.

Man, thanks for sharing that. I've just installed the gps in my xt1200 and everything is working perfectly. Congrats for the initiative

You should know how long take me to find out how to connect GPS this way.

No problem. I'm glad this helps you. Winglets are definitely worth it. I changed windshield because I installed touratech bracket. They all similar.
