Alan should've taken those drumsticks and use the nasty thing's (Jimmy Savile) head as his drum. Amazing performance but I am feeling so sorry for anyone who had been on this show cause we really don't know what type of things they saw and heard and weren't allowed to speak about. Just a shame how deep was all this thing running and how kids and their parents didn't even have a clue - blindly believing that he is a good presenter who loves to make children happy and help hospitals. May he don't rest in peace.

I think a lot of performances back in that day are similar. There’s been a lot more study and oomph put into stage performances since then starting in the mid 80’s. Being a musician back then mostly was about the music, but now it’s the fashion, stage presence that gets sold to audiences rather than the song itself. I rather miss the way it used to be. I also like seeing a band in their rough young state rather than the polished and perfected form. It’s more relatable and likable.

Juan De Leon - almost nothing was played live back in those days. Some bands refused tv appearances as they didn’t want to mine. Problem was, technically it was far far easier to play backing tracks than set up mics, mixing etc. A lot of times they didn’t even bother plugging guitar leads in or even power leads to keyboards.
