I never hated Jules, mainly cause I realised that she was going through a lot of stuff as well but I don't like her as much as Rue for two reasons. First is cause even though she was going through all this stuff with Rue, and in this episode she claims she was in love with her since before the kiss, at the same time she was spending the entire time talking with someone else and falling in love with them and sexting them. The second reason isn't entirely to do with the show but it's the fact that everyone defending her made it seem like the finale with Jules leaving was ALL Rue's fault when even though the idea was Rue's, Jules was pretty adamant about going through with it and wasn't really listening to Rue regretting her impulsive decision.

After this scene, Rue reunites with Ali and we see that she has burned all her bridges and has no reason to stay alive. She blames Jules for depriving her of the possibility of a different life, but at the same time she understands that to stay sober she must face her own storm and not throw anyone else into the hurricane of her addictions. She knows that by seeking to be sober she cannot be with Jules, and if she delves further into her addiction, she loses Jules. Sober or addicted, Jules is not in her story. And that's the reason why she don't intend to stay here long. If you look closely at Rue's phone screen, it is the photograph of the black hole discovered in 2019, a very revealing metaphor of the character's nature, the force of his storm drags everything inside, deep and horrible, nothing escapes him, nothing is exempt of his power to end everything. A perfect picture of Rue.
I love Rue so much but she was always a little bit selfish. She always relied on Jules as if Jules didn’t have her own things to deal with. Jules’ past with her addict mom holds a lot of weight to her and although it isn’t Rue’s fault and Jules never told her, she never thinks about how her addiction affects Jules. I loved this episode a lot, Jules leaving made me mad at her, but now I understand why she did it. I hope she explains it to Rue in the next season and they can make up.
She’s a drug addict. Of course she’s inherently selfish. This did why she and Jules shouldn’t be together right now, Rue needs to work on her sobriety independent of Jules.

Okay so the timeline of this scene is confusing but here's my theory: 1st episode Rue met Ali on Christmas EVE and Jules texted her that she misses her The start of this episode,Rue wasn't drenched and so it wouldn't make sense that she met Ali after seeing Jules in the first episode,it can only be before or the next day being.... The 2nd episode On Christmas DAY Rue went to Jules's house(wearing the same clothes as the previous day?) before meeting Ali again(which they didn't show?) Okay so the timeline of this scene is confusing but here's my theory:
1st episode
Rue met Ali on Christmas EVE and Jules texted her that she misses her
The start of this episode,Rue wasn't drenched and so it wouldn't make sense that she met Ali after seeing Jules in the first episode,it can only be before or the next day being....
The 2nd episode
On Christmas DAY Rue went to Jules's house(wearing the same clothes as the previous day?) before meeting Ali again(which they didn't show?)
Idk I am so confused cause apparently Hunter said they had to redo this scene multiple times so maybe that kinda messed up the timeline😭

Also! Like...canonically...im assuming this episode happens like...actually before Rue's. It would be could to think that after this episode, that's when Rue goes to Ali and they have this wholebig chat idk
Well, I think this happen after Rue's episode because in this scene, her hair is wet and at the end of special episode one, it is shown Ali driving in the rain with Rue. Which makes sense when she went back home but passed by Jule's house and decided to visit.
