Hi! What a fabulous dress! And I’d really like to say thank you for sharing all the things you learn along the way - for someone like me who isn’t very experienced, it gives me hope that I can have a chance of making things as love as you do! 💜
Hi Jo! Thanks so much! Glad you find the videos useful! I just like sharing what I’ve learned and my experiences! You can totally make these things 💪🏻💪🏻
As soon as you said the line I knew what it was:). I am fairly certain I have watched that movie 30 times and even my kids, now in the early 20s, love it too.
Hi Rachel i really enjoyed this video. I’m about to order material for the Davenport dress and I appreciated the detailed description of your experience with this pattern. I’m a complete novice but pattern is for all levels so hopefully it will go well. I’m living in Ireland too and just discovered the pink door. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic shop here! Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth, glad you found that useful! It’s a really pretty dress, I hope you get on well with it! pink door is just wonderful.. and I just love local Irish shops! Very excited youre starting on your sewing journey, and great to have another Irish Sewist ☘️ Thanks for warhcing
Friday pattern company is my absolute favourite pattern company, many sagebrushes, many wilder tops and about to start a pink denim ilford jacket. You and I use the same sizes which makes me happy so your opinion on makes I value. I am very new to you and very happy I found you. X
Excellent! Great to hear we’re size twins! It makes life easier I think to see things on people who have the same proportions! Friday Pattern Company are great! A pink denim Ilford sounds amazing!!! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
@@TheFrenchSeams_vlog have you tried the Rae top by tessuti patterns, ? Different sleeve options, easy make for casual or work appropriate. I’m on my second version as we speak. X
@@patriciaweekes258 I have indeed! If you check out my June Makes Vlog I discuss it there. It’s a really lovely pattern. I just made one sleeveless version for summer and I really love it!
Love your Davenport gosh how lucky were you to get hold on more of that beautiful fabric👍beanies are sooo cute. I also like how Friday Pattern company draft their patterns, have better experience with them than Tilly and the Botton .your Sagebrush top is very pretty 👍👍❤
Oh I was so lucky! Not sure what I would have done otherwise 😱😱😱 I’m really enjoying Friday Pattern Company alright. It’s lovely when you hit on something that just really works!
Absolutely love all your makes. Promise me one thing - when you get all the compliments (and I am sure you will get many) - just say " thanks, I made it". What goes on in the sewing room ( and gets shared with fellow sufferers in the sewing community) should stay in the sewing room!!
Hahaha you sound like my husband 😉 I always show him what I’ve made and then point out every single mistake 🤣🤣 I promise I will. You’re very kind, thank you!
Thanks so much! The hats are adorable aren’t they 😉 just watched your video with your Davenport, it’s really pretty! Isn’t it a great pattern! I liked how you made tweaks to totally make it your own !
Love your sage brush top, I didn’t think it was for me because of the sleeves, Your hack to reduce them looks great. Maybe I will try it next summer. Thank you.
Thanks Kate! I thought that same thing initially, but with different fabrics and a small hack to the size it gives a totally different look, so I’d recommend trialling it alright! Very best of luck! Thanks for watching!
First time seeing your videos, i have subscribed i love your makes, ive just made davonport dress i found neck a bit high im just downloading lago tank as your pjs are lovely, i made a gingham top using davonport dress it made a nice top, and i love your accent, thankyou great video x
Thanks so much! Appreciate the support! The neck is a little high alright. I’m hoping a longer elastic will sort that out! The lago tank is a brill pattern! A top from the Davenport sounds like a great idea!!! Thanks again ☘️
I love your Davenport dress ....its a stunner. Clever use of the scallop edge on the sagebrush too. You did so well to get all those garments from 2 metres of fabric too so well done with that.....I'm impressed, they all look fab in that gorgeous fabric! Enjoying your channel very much....so I hope you keep the vlogs coming.
That’s so lovely Annette, thank you so much! I did a lot of pattern placement Tetris to get the most out of all the fabric!! Hoping to do many more vlogs! Thanks for watching!!

Thanks so much Amelia! That blue is so stunning.. even better in real life I think! I would really recommend the Eclipse Top alright! It looks so great on him. Thanks so much Michelle!! Seems like we’re not the only ones with a Davenport story 🤣 so glad we got there in the end!! Those hats would be perfect gifts!!! Glad to give you a shout out… love your channel as you know 😉
That’s such a great idea with stacking the bobbin and thread onto one spool. I do have a cover stitch, but it’s kind of a hassle to use, and I have been thinking about selling it. I’ll have to give this option a try.
That’s so interesting to know! I thought cover stitch machines were the be all and end all, if this method works for you I’m delighted!!! Thanks for watching
@@TheFrenchSeams_vlog With a coverstitch machine you need even more thread than before. To sew a T-shirt, you need 4 cones in your serger (if you have one) and 4 more cones in your coverstitch. So you really need 8 cones of the same color for every color fabric. You also need to measure the hem and sew very carefully if you want the stitch on the back to encompass the edge of the fabric. It's tricky to get it perfect. I usually give up and just trim the extra fabric on the back of the garment, rather than try to get the edge of the fabric perfectly centered under the stitch and missing it in sections. Also, my practice scraps may turn out perfectly, then I'll mess up the stitch on the real garment. I haven't used my coverstitch for a few years because I decided to use hem bands instead, which I can sew with my serger. Now I'm a little bored with hem bands, so I'm looking for coverstitch alternatives. Who knows though, maybe I'll go back to it and learn to love it. (I will say that an air-threaded serger is worth every penny. Easy to thread with perfect tension every time. No more spending 20 minutes before every project trying to figure out the perfect tension settings.)
Oh your makes are so gorgeous . Love all the cutie hats , adorable 🥰. I feel your pain with the davenport dress. I made so many mistakes with mine too . I only cut one set of yokes and forgot the back channel too. I had no fabric leftover so I ended up having to cut a piece off the bottom ruffle … no harm to me at 5ft ! I really really want to make one like yours too 🐘 🦒
Thanks so much Andrea!!!!! Eeeek the Davenport really is a labour of love isn’t it!! Worth it in the end I think though. Definitely make a jungle Davenport! It’s so much fun 🦒🤩
Love your videos, I’m super impressed at all the sewing you get done especially having two little ones. The little hats are adorable and love that your little boy is desperate for the t shirt to be out of the wash! Your Davenport Dress is beautiful and I love your idea of the elastic in the waist instead of a tie. Happy September sewing xx

With the tilly and the buttons juno dress did you cut the neck band on the bias, I didnt ( because it didn't say on the pattern) but I had a lot of problems with the neck band ( not the knot ) the band itself the back of the neck was to big and baggy.
Hi Janis! That’s a shame, sorry you’re having issues. Do you mean the Lotta dress? If so no the neckband isn’t cut on the bias, it’s cut on the fold perpendicular to the grain line. I wonder what happened? Is your fabric very stretchy? Has the neckline stretched out maybe?
