I watched Eva live in Miss Saigon and though I am
a big fan of Lea, this girl
pipes and she was equally fantastic as Lea in her own right!
I was born during the War . As a Black American I felt compassion for Vietnamese people and what they had to endure to survive the war. American GI and his Vietnamese wife raised their two children in my town and we played together. When I saw Miss Saigon on Broadway I was so moved by the musical drama I cried so bad. Then later in life I met a young Vietnamese woman who told me her father was a black American soldier during the war and she never knew her father but she was not ashamed of being part black and we talked all day about her experience as a mixed child in Vietnam and how her mom was able to bring them to America. We became good friends.
Amazing it did not win - if ever a revival was better than the original this was it! Terrific
I still think the original is way better but that's your opinion. We all have our favorites.
I still love the original.
The newer one is better no doubt. Even Lea herself has said this. It might be because the original was a work in progress and went through many changes
But there were song lyrics that a lot agree that shouldn't be change. The revival is awesome as well but i will stick to Lea as Kim. Not saying Eva is bad, i just preferred Lea. anyway Miss Saigon has the best production on that Tony.
@@labellavita12 I like both and have both singers on my playlist. Hopefully I get around to see the tour!
I START SOBBING OUT OF NOWHERE
One of the most amazing live vocal performances I’ve ever seen
i cant with this. even when lea is just talking my heart melts. wtf is this wizardry
her voice is so clear and clean, i’m obsessed
Oh god- I swear that scream shook the auditorium… and the amount of pain and emotion she put into the role is just
❤👌🤌🤯
I have no idea what’s going on but I’m crying so hard right now 😭😭😭
How does anyone give that intensity 8 shows a week. Absolutely wild.
Amazing performance. Eva continues the legacy set by Lea. No need for comparisons. Just enjoy that the Tony’s continues to honor the amazingly, talented Filipino singers that will permanently be “Kim”.
Her scream was remarkably so well in tune
She’s so brilliant
I got so much goosebumps. She is such a good actress and singer it’s like it is impossible
Embarrassed by the fact that I once auditioned and she was there. So blown away by her voice an talent!
One of the absolutely best Tony performances in my humble opinion.
i humbly second that
Yo she’s a an amazing actress and singer. I felt that performance. It was all in the eyes!
Love how she nonchalantly covers his ears when she’s really belting 😢 I also heard they stage the more violent scenes so that the child actor is never actually directly seeing the gun violence
wow she’s good. they picked the right artist
Her cry at 2:06 gives me undeniable chills every time wowowoWOWOW
Aa a Vietnamese this performance is absolute perfect , I thought she was Vietnamese for a sec but she is a great fillipinos actor
Her acting is incredible! I love how each actress brings her own vulnerability and strength to the character. They are all different but astounding! Full package! I love her
so talented. we Filipinos are so proud for you. Mabuhay!
What did I just witness?!
WOW!!
Absolutely amazing performance 🎭 of this talented young lady.
Yes, I was moved to tears. 🥲
Didn’t like the sped up tempo, takes away from the emotional meaning of the song. However, great performance on her part!
It’s only because it’s the Tonys and they had to cut it for time requirements
Great Job Eva. I know Lea is so proud of you.
This is what got me into the show and now I’m driving 6 hours to see it on tour :))
wish everyone in the comments would stop comparing eva’s performance to lea’s, they’re both great performers.
I just cried in the first few minutes-
crying?! literally crying i miss theatre so much
Years later and I still come back to watch this. And every time I wonder where her mic is
such a jaw dropping production
The heart wrenching yell...wow.
YOUR ONE OF A KIND EVA. You didn’t just gave justice from the original kim but you almost surpassed this scene. Not to mention your vocal prowess. Goosebumps!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
That choir though😭they’re so good
You who I cradled in my arms
You, asking as little as you can
Little snip of a little man
I know I'd give my life for you
You didn't ask me to be born
You, why should you learn of war or pain?
To make sure you're not hurt again
I swear I'll give my life for you
I've tasted love beyond all fear
And you should know it's love
That brought you here
And in one perfect night
When the stars burned like new
I knew what I must do
I'll give you a million things I'll never own
I'll give you a world to conquer when you're grown
You will be who you want to be
You can choose whatever heaven grants
As long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you
Sometimes I wake up
Reaching for him
I feel his shadow brush my head
But there's just moonlight on my bed
Was he a ghost, was he a lie?
That made my body laugh and cry?
Then by my side the proof I see
His little one, gods of the sun
Bring him to me!
You will be who you want to be
You, can choose whatever heaven grants
As long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you
No one can stop what I must do
I swear I'll give my life for you!
No grace, no hope
No life, no hope
No chance, no change (no regrets)
No grace, no hope (no return, no goodbye)
No life, no hope (no regrets, no return)
No chance, no change (no goodbye, no regrets)
One day (no return) one night (no goodbye)
One day (no regrets) one night (no return)
One day (no goodbye) one night (no regrets)
One day!
I was blessed enough to watch Miss Saigon live at the Kennedy Center and it was fantastic
