I love our national weapon n thanks for this video 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Khukri is famus in India also, Indian army also has Gorkha Regiments..
We know that -_-
We have Gurkha regiment in UK and Singapore too.
@OMAR you are one dumb kid😂😂you know nothing about our country...do your homework first kid😂
I respect
Jay mahakali aayo gorkhali...proud to be nepali
You know I've seen a lot of knife test videos but Cold Steel slicing through a deck of cards in slow mo is still the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Very Impressive !! being disabled in a wheel chair i would feel safe having the san mai gurkha kukri on hand to protect myself , that is an incredible knife !! Bravo Cold Steel !!
Being in the exact same situation, I have one. And you are right!
did you buy the knife?
@@bugraerkan2663 Yes
@@tikkidaddy did you stab anyone? is it any good
@@bugraerkan2663 No. Stabbing living people is a crime. Unless you can prove self defense in a court of law here in the US. BUT I have used the knife to process large amounts of pork and I can assure you meat is no problem regardless of what type it is😂
Proud to be a gorkhali 😊lots of love from Nepal 😊😊😊
I'm a huge fan of Cold Steel. I do recognize the strength and sharpness of your knives, but I also have to mention that it's not just the knife doing the work it's the person behind it. I'm sure Lynn would agree that to make tremendous cuts like those; form, strength, a well sharpened blade, a strong blade, and a lot of practice goes a long way. I'm not criticizing I'm just clarifying what was taught to me for years. I'm not a martial artist. I'm just a guy that has practiced with trainers and sticks to figure out my personal fighting style with knives. I'm just happy I haven't had to fight anyone yet. Keep up the good work Lynn! Your company make some of the best knives I've ever owned! -Scott
I suggest A.K.K.I.
Have you had to use your skills yet? Refined your technique or fighting "style" yet?
By far my favorite coldsteel product. perfect design and materials in something you can use everyday.
For those who do not know why this blade costs 700 USD: it lies in the construction of the steel. Normal blades are forged from a single piece of metal; Sanmai places a softer steel core into a hard outer jacket. This process takes time, effort, and resources. Thus the extra cost.
Also, props to Cold Steel for replying to comments and defending their products without being overly concerned with political correctness. I appreciate the intensive testing you put your blades through, and you guys put a wicked edge to a knife.
Many thanks to Lynn Thompson and his merry men. I proudly own a Chaos Double Edge, Tanto, and carry a Spartan. Looking forward to more.
im pretty sure its the other way around.. hard steel in center, soft steel on outside.
The King San Mai means 3 layers. It is San Mai.
D1ABOLU5 Still not justified, San Mai is not rocket science. It's just 3 layers of steel welded together. It's like Damascus but with 3 layers instead of like 200. Damascus blades aren't worth/don't cost $700.
You got that backwards there brother. Hard middle soft outer.
Zen Yatta San Mai is laminated construction to increase the durability of the blade. Damascus deferent steels forge welded and folded the pattern is just for cosmetic.
He's literally living out every boy's dream.
the face of him after each cut has NO price.
He really lives to CUT I believe!!!!
BTW this thing cuts like a lightsaber....
Lol he looks like a psycho...lol no offense Lynn...
I have several of the Cold Steel Kukri. They are unmatched in every category. And no one comes close to making them even remotely as incredible as Lynn and his company.

Kul Gurung stay strong! Love your culture!
Vast respect for the Gurkhas!!!
Kul Gurung respect Gurkha, shit on cold steel.
Yes I m also proud to be gorkha
Dangerous weapon because it has bending curve hence it cut fast with less power. Hats off the person who created this design
That weapon is over one thousand years old. They make diff sizes of them as well. Buy one. You won't regret it. I have about 12. Various sizes. Unmatched weapon.
@@redfaux74 you have 12 Khukris.. Amazing
@@vitthal9323 - I have 2 from India, 1 from Nepal, 2 are from some other company (I can't remember the name, I wouldn't use them as weapons but I was young then) and the rest are from Cold Steel. I used to have more but a few were stolen, I gave a few away. I have an old black 9" from Cold Steel that is my favorite, rare and discontinued.
I wouldn't buy another unless it was Cold Steel. They beat the others by far. There is a guy from TX that makes them by hand. He's on the TH-cam channel "On 3". His stuff looks amazing and he makes a variety of sizes. When he got advertised by On 3 his sales went thru the roof and he's so back ordered that I'm not sure there's a point. Good short video tho. Check it out.
@@redfaux74 nice collection i have just one.
"Jai Nepal" Mero Khukuri ko Dhaar 🇳🇵🤘🏼
"Hear those ribs break? Effortless penetration."
kingmanted that’s what I said at my trial!
Those were very impressive cuts. A lot more difficult then the cuts even in other cold Steel videos. This time the bamboo was twice as thick and cut at a deeper angle, cut so clean that it fell straight down, have you guys even touched bamboo? The cow bone was in a leather bag and hanging instead of fixed. They didn't even bother with the weak ass door that any of them and myself could punch through with bare hands. The other tests with the super thick mats rope and meat hopefully don't need explanation. You guys aren't giving the knife enough credit, that's for sure.
No Lynn
That's not what your kukri does best
It cuts, chops, stabs
Does all kinds of work
Makes shelters and fires
Clears a path
And yes, protects when it has to
So what exactly does a cold steel kukri do best?!?!
Support you and save your life
0:57 "The other thing about a kukri is you don't always have to make _huge cuts_ . I can just flick with my wrist, like that, and make _huge cuts_ ."
You have to admit, the guy's funny.
@Player Zero I rewatched the video because of your comment and noticed a whole bunch of these funny bits. Like how the assistants at 2:48 got sacrificed as they held the bungee cords, the bottles retracted and they got totally splashed 😂
i've owned a cs kukhri for well over ten years now and believe me their steel is among the best.part of my apprenteship was in a heat treatment lab testing and developing different steels. so i know my steel.
being a Gorkha, we own this in every house..my dad gifted it to me when I was 19, its a piece of art....being said that this isn't original blade design...I wish if I can export this to other countries, the original master piece...
Cold Steel has a better edge geometry
Iwant to buyit

this was a brilliant marketing campaign in all seriousness
COLD STEEL IS THE REAL DEAL! I do not work for them, but I damn sure buy thier products, because THEY WORK, THEY ARE QUALITY, and YOU GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH!
I have one and love it! I really like Cold Steel products and also get a kick out of their videos. Keep up the great job guys!
I watch this over 1000 times now
The sharpness of that blade....out of this world
You guys really have the best job in the world. Maybe when I grow up I can work there.
this is one of the best physically designed kurkri in the market if not the best. people who doing these test are some well know martial artists. regular person will still be able to cut very well with CS knives. but probably not as well as those guys in the video.
i know you guys never waste those meat used in the video. and when we saw thompson lynn we assume he eats them all.
THAT BIG GUY IN THE BLACK SHIRT IS A LEGEND. I LOVE HIS ENTHUSIASM!
"Life saving cuts" HAHAHAHAH I love them guys.
Awesome knives.
This is why nepalese khukuri is the best knife in the whole intire world
is "Robert" some kind of specialist?
He is very good at cutting stuff up to be honest
4rreste cold steel products are crap. I had one for a month till the handle flew off. I didnt even do abbusive testing, just water bottles.
He holds world records for cutting.
Bob my student.
Just took this knife (SK5 version) out for it's first backpacking trip after watching Nutnfancy's review. Awesome is all I can say. Best camping, survival knife on the market period. Cut through and split logs with baton like nothing I've ever seen. Beautiful blade.
Really don't understand why some people are complaining about the price of this knife. Costs for r&d have to be taken into consideration as well as marketing costs, since this knife is a mass product. In this regard: It may be difficult to produce knifes with these outstanding features in large numbers.
In addition: Information economics (Grossman-Stiglitz-Theory) tells that high prices indicate superior quality of durable goods. :D You never pay "the name" only!
But in our country its 10$.
Anup Dhakal yeah, and as cheap as $5
Benchmade, CRKT, and buck knives all produce AWESOME products, but I am yet to see any company make some of the beautiful, functional, and touch pieces cold steel makes. They are in a class of there own, I have a great amount of respect for Lynn
I'm from Nepal and Khukuri are as common as a kitchen knife . There are many kinds of khukuris available mostly tourists are sold a showpiece with less intention of utility and harm with extensive shine .but, what we really use for self defence and daily use is an genuine Khukhuri called sirupate a traditional ,efficient combat knife made to silenly chop the head off from a body and wrecklessly going on killing spree untill you kill 10 of them and brave enough to sacrifice yourself in any combat . But on streets we mostly use even heftier rusted ones to make matters worst with a smile .the little tooth like figure on the bottom of the blade is to stop the blood from running down the blade to your hand and slipping off cause it often happens when you're on a killing spree .
And they cost less than your everyday vegetable knife 5$-25$ max for show piece and 50$ max for a Genuine sirupate custom made with rosewood handle and a horse leather holder!
Why don't you just put a guard on it?
Anook G this is what the truth is many don't know what the real gurkha kukri is and they have no idea what's the real purpose of kukri is your words can really make them know the real truth about our khuruki peace✌
Thank you for this comment and telling the truth about how they are supposed to be used and what they are used for I have one made in 1940s it's battered and rust pitted but deadly as a black mamba and tough as a hammer, I had one from cold steel it was very pretty but it broke after one hard day in the forest I received it in a trade for bear skins so I'm glad I did not spend cash it now lives on my wall of shame
Mudsuitable You broke a San Mai kukri?
I'm so happy the new one came out. I missed my chance to get one like 5 years ago. Not this time.
wow this knife is truly worthy of a tip of my fedora
They don't make like that in Nepal.
You should visit nepal and see real magic of KHUKURI
Holyy fuckk mateee u still using this account?
@fcarabat one thing i know, is that rope fibres are way tougher than muscle and fat, so to cut through solid rope like that, thats thicker than most peoples arms, says ALOT about its abilities. no its not wood, i hink though that this thing is more geared towards being a fighting blade.
It'll take some saving, but I'll definitely get one. Awesome knife. By the way I have one question, would this be at all suitable for a smaller person? I weigh in at about 140 lbs. I'm in good condition for my size, but I'm not sure how easy it would be for me to actually wield that beast.
Thanks :)
***** the new Chaos Kukri costs $105 and is more tactical
When you get your hands on this, you will grin like a child on Christmas morning. The blade will compliment any one less than 7' and even then, it will be a nice pocket knife. This blade is the world's greatest blade. No one beats this Cold Steel version. No one and no country.
dontblinkparkour did you ever get the khukri?
Don't blink....
And my suggestion is to practice with a wooden version or the polypropylene version. These are razors out of the box. That's what we did with Dr Muang Gyi in his Kukri clinics.
Thanks for you answer. :)
It's a very tough choice to make. The Bowie is very versatile, the Kukri has enormous copping power and the Tanto is very fast with it snap cuts.
I guess, I'll need more time to choose. :)
Did you get one or all three yet?
Bamboo: "I'm flying!"
Gravity: "No you're not."
Bamboo: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!"
My absolute favorite is the Voyager Vaquero XL serrated
I think for 700 dollars it should cut through gallaxies .-.
Madeline Blank you are right..
It cost around 47 dollar in Nepal
Sudarshan Rai Nepal made Khukuris have *much* inferior steel.
@@zenyatta3947 and most are far too heavy to control in a defense conflict ,just way too darn heavy but that Cold Steel Kukri will stab slice and chop with little effort.
Wait until you hold one in your hands yourself. You won't believe it. There is NOTHING like it. Nothing beats this weapon from Cold Steel. I have one.
Thank you! For showing us our nepal power by the way im from nepal
2:32 Cool magic trick to impress at parties
Robert has such great form, and I don't even know what good form looks like.
6:32 “Congratulations, Robert. That’s 10 inches.”
My favorite weapons for my dungeons & dragons Ranger/Rogue is a Rapier in the main hand and a Kukri in the off hand. The rapier and Kukri both have triple the critical range of a normal European longsword. The rapier is weapon-finesse compatible b/c it is a fencing weapon. The kukri qualifies b/c it is a light weapon (all light weapons qualify). The weapon finesse feat lets you use a character's dexterity bonus in place of the strength bonus. High-dex thieves become formidable warriors.
Kukris are also excellent utility knives.
The Frosty One they aren't utility knifes
eggrollsoupnova2000 Well, what is it then? Truth be told, all cold steel is really is backyard cutting swords. So, please, humour me! Tell me what kind of blade a khukri is intended to be!
eggrollsoup They are used for everything from food prep to brush clearing by the Nepalese. They can do a huge variety of tasks from skinning, to taking down trees. How is that not a utility knife?
Isheian Thank you! Finally, a voice of reason in this shithole.
it is a battle knife the nepalese army and the british gurkhas use khukuris as a close combat weapons, nepalese have been usuing it for centuries in wars.
I miss these older videos
I am born on those hills, believe me...khukuri is not simple to use..you need habit of playing with this knife..they are using all their power to cut ropes and meat but one who is habituated of using it can do it simply.
Well actually it is not a knife
True. They are intimidated by their objects. Familiar practice will destroy the targets easily.
@@sagarshrestha9289 - It is a knife. Some call anything over 12" a short sword but the typical Kukri is 12" or less. Some are 15" but hard to find. I have a 9" from Cold Steel that I love and several of the 12" models. Knife, blade.... whatever.
@@redfaux74 i have both 12" and 22" khukuri (not kukuri) and as you mentioned ("anything over 12" a short sword ") and also standard khukuri is over 12" in length.
@@sagarshrestha9289 - I understand that people in other countries claim rights to weapons and all the details about them. In America, we don't care at all. We do love the history but we want the skill that comes with the weapon. We mean no disrespect. We do expect however true authenticity in form, function and style. What it does, what it does best and all the applications. If Lynn Thompson makes the world's best knife, blade, sword Kukri style (and he does) and he calls it Kukri, then I accept his spelling, his pronunciation, Lynn rules.
Lynn Thompson made this Kukri with the input of Grandmaster of Bando, Dr Muang Gyi (from Burma, a true Ghurka) and I have nothing BUT respect for that. I trained under Dr Gyi and am humbled to have done so. I know of no one with more knowledge of the martial arts than him and have always been impressed in every way with his spirit. Dr Gyi was incredibly impressed with this Kukri. The Bando stamp says it all.
Many blessings your way.
Hm. I must have missed all of those. Love your videos, love the quality of blade you make over at Cold Steel. Probably the week after I turn 18, I will be the proud owner of multiple Cold Steel products, a kukri machete to be certain.

i need this in my life

Did you get it?
well finally you are beginning to understand what ive been trying to explain to you!!! let the knives perform by actions there is no need for dialog in the video let the reviewers of the merchandise brag about the knife not the manufacturer be humble instead of trying to be the one cocky jocky of the football team
I just came from a kukri ceremony vid where they chop a cows head while alive wtf!!
That's Buffalo coz Nepalis are hindus too and they dont eat cow. Its the Gadhimani festival where they sacrifice a lot of animals around half million in a day.

I have one of these (and other kukris by Cold Steel, they make many sizes) and no one can convince me there is a better combat weapon in the world. Dr Gyi was very proud of this weapon when it came out. No country OR company can match it! No one beats Cold Steel. No one.
Maybe the most sexual innuendo of any video on TH-cam
Oh yeah hit that sweet spot dady
I am not trying to criticize at all here but I have to mention that the rice rolls should have a bamboo core to symbolize the bone, and if you wrap it up as a leg then the bamboo should be bigger (of course) and that is the one thing that I have never seen in your tests. I would like to see that, as that really proves a lot more than just the rice rolls themselves. I have personally cut through them, I know from experience that the bamboo in the middle make a huge difference, and others do too.
ZGB should test this
@csknives I have seen the reviews and people love yours, but prefer the original for some reason....it seems that people find it more pleasing knowing their knife was actually hand made and not mass produced, but i like your stuff anyways, my first knife was one of your kukris, really good stuff
I would rather buy a handmade Nepalese one .
John McCarthy want some contact me.....nigen Kathmandu nepal
If you ever had a Kukri from Cold Steel.....
You would NEVER buy one from any other company or country. I have had several from Nepal and India and I wouldn't give $30 for one after buying 5 from Cold Steel. I trained in Bando with Dr Muang Gyi (a real Ghurka from Burma) and believe me, he was impressed with these very highly. I very light tap from a Cold Steel Kukri anywhere on the human body can cause traumatic life threatening bleeding within moments. You can't say that of any other Kukri that I know of.
We are nepali ..and khukhuri is our national weapon ....as u all.know ghurkas have win lot of war with this in the history and in world war as well.....proud to be nepali

true you do have great vids

Cold steel wow what a place to work cool produce looks fun testing too 👍🐺🐾❤
Barely. Gets. Through. Bamboo.
A machete, that offers adequate functionality against meats and furniture. I'll pick one of these up the next time I'm planning a trip to Ikea. If I'm going into the jungle, I think I'll pick up a real machete.
Lol?
The kukri was made for hacking off limbs, not cutting couches
Pfff Gurkhas, what do those IKEA warriors know about warfare? Not like they train their entire lives or something
your ikea machete is most likely recycled out of soda cans
P-51 Thunderspit for that price it better be able to cut through a couch
For HD I think you want something that is both more threatening than the attackers weapon, of medium size, sturdy and cheap. CS' katana machete would cover a lot of that, as it have a lot greater reach than a knife, is imposing since it's big and freakish and have a lot of power. What's unique about it is its long shaft that let you control it easy in very tight quarters. Also, starting to lift some never goes wrong - u'll see incredible progress.
Unfortunately all your kukris aren’t made with the real metal. The real kukri is only made of wootz steel.
Our national weapon.. nice video.👍 🇳🇵
Gee, Cold Steel replicated the traditional, handmade kukri from Nepal and charge $600 for it. My genuine Nepalese kukris can do anything this overpriced contrivance can for a fraction of the price. Skip this South African snake-oil unless you are truly a CS junkie.
Nate Boyd it all depends on the quality of the steel, how strong you are and how sharp the blade is. You can buy a great knife with the same quality for much cheaper.
I call bull fucking shit, I have 2 Himalayan Imports, a British Mark 1, 2 custom gurkha kukris by Nepali blacksmiths made from non-recycled 5160 steel AND this San Mai CS Kukri. The originals are excellent but the CS kukri is the one I bring all the time into the jungles because of the crazy edge retention. You pay for the steel not just the brand.
Brett Miller You cannot compare 5160 with a sub-par heat treatment with VG1 San Mai with a good temper and expect them to be priced the same.
Okay bud. Those gurkas in their huts with no electricity put out better products than a 600 dollar knife from CS, a knife company specifically known for the value for the dollar. In your dreams lol
Haven't bought a cold steel kinfe or sword that didn't meet what I wanted, they go Beyond what I thought.
We gurkha use that khukuri in certain circumstances dude that is not to play for the childrens

@nightember, thanks for your reply. the nutnfancy review is for the SK5 Carbon Steeel kukhri And not the San Mai III. the SK5 is a keeper in its own right though.
Nutn did Carbon V if I'm not mistaken. He had the San Mai but preferred carbon due to mostly cost
