- Welcome to an exciting episode of discovery, learning, and unforgettable plant adventures in a Singapore garden that is covered in ornamental plants collected from all over the world. Our collector, Ryan, is a charming, knowledgeable, and passionate plant lover with one heck of a smile.
In this episode, we will tour his eclectic collection, which includes aroids, begonias, orchids, platyceriums, labisias, and a plethora of stunning Indonesian plants. Our host Ryan, as well as the plants featured in this tour, are easy on the eyes, making it effortless for you to stay glued to the screen.
Ryan generously shares care tips for some species that he has found challenging, as well as general garden maintenance. I promise that you will walk out of this episode smarter and more informed.
I've hidden ten gardening tips throughout this episode using subtitles, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for them. They are either very useful or downright hilarious. There's also an encore at the end of the episode to reward those who watch all the way through.

One thing made me an instant fan of Ryan: not buying into the variegated craze. I don't particularly find them more attractive than the regular versions of the same plants, and the variegation also makes growing the plant in a bright environment annoying
I tend to prefer the green forms too. Though the more challenging care for variegated plants tempt me 😀

Wow our garden in bali is beginning to look like that allthough ea havent quite got the variety as you you guys i wish well were working on it love your passion i want to learn heaps about asian plants thankyou so much for this program i”ll look at it as often as i can wow i love it especially you guys being young and knowledgeable l havent lost interest even though im 81 but my daughter is in her early fifties and shes got the tropical back yard its a joke in australia 😂no shes really into the tropical plants and i”m learning but were both very enthusiastic thankyou again darlings ❤

Shefflera albidobracteata, now Heptapleurum albidobracteatum, is actually from the Philippines, being a Mindanao endemic.
Many of the so-called labisias coming in from Indonesia appear to be Ardisia or Discocalyx, and I have seen some that were in reality from the genus Strobilanthes, from an entirely different family. Labisia as a name has become the dumping ground of sellers who can't identify the plants they are getting from the forests.

I almost forgot, the Piper at 0:51 is very likely the unpatterned form of Piper artanthe. And, he is correct: it is a water guzzler. I have been following him in IG for quite some time and haven't seen many of the plants here in his posts. I would have loved to see more of his orchids in the video, though.

For the lupinum, I noticed that they prefer a solid sturdy pole compared to a mosspole. They didn't really want to cling and roots to a mosepole hence the leaves is not getting bigger.
