Gavin is one of my favorite musical talents in the world. I don't say that lightly. I first heard his collaboration with Stateless on 'window 23' which is amazing. Since then I've bought his albums and listened for years. I so, so wish his music was a championing theme that focused on inner triumph (rather than inner struggle) although I'm sure someone could prove that perspective wrong. The music often speaks more on the struggle to just make it through the scene - which from my perspective is crazy given the sounds he makes. His music grooves through the god danced scene like a cyborg Michael Jackson programmed to seduce, rather than inch by to squeak out a song. I'd love his music to be like, 'boom. Buckle up. Here's what a professional sounds like.' And then everyone gets pregnant. I'm super torn because the confliction in sound and thought. Like if Mark Twain wrote to convey his sadness of life, rather than to celebrate his hard work and the incredible universe he created, through will and curiosity. Why Castleton isn't America's Gotye us beyond me. I figure it's soon, my hunch is it will happen when he shifts creative focus to reveling in life's comedy, rather than thunder at its tragedy. Mho anyway.
I love those vocal melodies...and that swung floor tom hit. Been following since the Gruvis days. Its cool seeing how the music keeps evolving over time.
Gavin, I just discovered you tonight on fb. Two cell phone batteries and 8 hours later, I've watched all of your works of art from six years ago to present. (Doom hooked me) you are an extremely talented, passionate and beautiful man in every sense. Music takes over you and permeates every cell of your being as you perform. I'm sure you have a website/fb page where I can stay abreast of your magnificent creations. Every song you sing sends tingles from my fingers to my toes! I adore your talent and although I may be a new fan, I'm probably your biggest! Don't ever stop making music. You touched my soul today, and that's what it's all about, right?
Gavin Castleton I can't BELIEVE your not huge yet Gavin. I have been listening to you since Home was released. Back then I thought for sure I was in on the ground floor. I felt like that cool kid who was ahead of what's cool. I still feel that way. People be sleeping on you Gavin, but don't you worry. Just keep on keepin' on. Your 'ish is dope and someday people are gonna wake up to it. BTW I love EBU GOGO!!!
Recently found #doom and have been diggin on it hard! I have had the Voice Live Touch 2 and have just started to unlock its capabilities. I will be follow you from here on out....you have a new fan!
Hah! The cinematography reminds me of Nine Inch Nails. Which is a good thing ;) Love the song! Once again I love your creativity. The Voicelive is no tool to you but a way to set that creativity free. And again. Well done!
This was fantastic. Gavin thank you to you and your musicians for making such wonderful music. You've got real talent backing you. Wish I could give this video as many views as some of the bullshit pop videos get.
Saw you and the band in Cleveland. First time I heard of your music, completely dig it! I know you're busy with The Dear Hunter tour and The Dear Hunter. Should try to get on tour with Papadosio or Jimkata! Great music! Hope the rest of the tour treats you well!
I was just trying to find out how to hook up my digital piano to the VL3 so I could use it to guide the vocal harmonies...This slight detour video was a fantastic surprise. I thought innovated, yet still great sounding, music created and performed by your generation was dead as hell. Sweet job brother. Love the Peter Gabriel sound....
Missed you since Gruvis days, so glad I found one of your videos explaining the VL3 by chance. I'm pretty sure I've watched "Doom" dozens of times now (and a bunch of your other videos). Great job. Started listening to all of your CD's on bandcamp. Psyched your still rocking it! Thank you! Dunno what it is about this song that I love, melody, vocals, funk vibe, it's all great.
Gavin, did write a song way back in the day with the lyrics, "so amused by loving you.."? Glad to find you on here after so many years. Old Gruvis fan.
Just heard you in the new Dear Hunter album. Dude you voice is awesome, I have never heard someone who sounds like you which is really refreshing. Keep up the good work, I love you music!
Gavin when you hit it big time I will tell you I told you so. I just wish I can hear more. Your music has meaning it resonates deeply. This guy can sing Jazz and hip hop in a single song ;) Best wishes. If you ever want to publish an album allow me to design your cover it will be my pleasure. I am happy to listen to you with a touch of sadness in your voice.
I look forward to the time when you make music in all languages ;) starting with English/French and English / Arabic. follow the evolution and get on with the revolution. It is painful yet inevitable.

Groove still hits so hard. Excellent performance. Rhythm section is so redonkulously tight, make sure you give them cookies and bacon on the road.
I think this is pretty awesome. Been a fan since I saw that wicked Fiona Apple cover
Thanks Allyson!
Great music. Don’t give up!
