    Peeps started out as an Easter only candy, at least from what I can remember growing up. When I graduated in the 90s is when they started making them for all holidays.

    Yes, we mostly have jelly beans around Easter. Do you have them at other times, or not really at all? We really don't have them much the rest of the year.

    • @ThisWithThem
      @ThisWithThem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Love that! Yes we do get them but don’t have many brands offering them and we definitely don’t get all of those flavours!

  • @Cupcakecatiee

    Palmer is a relatively cheap brand of chocolate, you can find them in a lot of dollar trees and discount candy aisles. However ! When it comes to their ‘speciality’ flavors (like cookies and cream, they have a birthday cake unicorn out for Easter at Walgreens, etc) their flavors actually aren’t half bad. They manage to mostly mask that cheapo chocolate flavor.
    Cotton candy, at least up here in Maine, is one of those things they’ve (mostly) just really started pushing for all holidays. They rotate the packaging basically. And jelly beans (except jelly belly) are definitely associated with Easter. You can purchase them anytime during the year but that’s when all the candy brands suddenly have jelly beans lining the shelves :)

    I associate cotton candy with fairs and carnivals. The type of chicken determines the egg color, the majority of commercially produced eggs in the U.S. are from White Leghorns, although brown eggs are becoming more common. My sister has some hens that lay blue and green eggs.

    I love jelly beans but I've only seen them at Easter. I had cotton candy for the first time when I was little and went to a carnival. It is now sold all year long in many stores. I see it all the time in our dollar stores. To me it looks like a big fluff of cotton and kind of feels that way too. I like peeps but I've never seen all the different flavors. One of my favorite Easter candys is the Cadbury eggs. My sisters and I got them each year in our baskets when we were little. We now love the mini Cadbury caramel eggs. I love Reese's Peese's much better then Reese's peanut butter cups. Around Easter Reese's makes Reese's Peese's eggs.

      I feel like it's getting to be more of a holiday thing. It'll be orange at Halloween, red/green at Christmas, pastel in Easter. I'm pretty sure I've even seen it green for St. Patrick's Day - it's a very easy "candy" to color and slap a holiday design on a tub.

    This is adorable to,watch you eat “normal” easter candy. Jelly beans are definitely popular during Easter because they are like little eggs. Our main brand is Jelly Belly and you can find those jelly beans year round, but the starburst and jolly rancher and so many other brands that make other types candy have started making jelly beans just for Easter time. That’s really the only time you can find that type of jelly bean.

    Egg dying kits here in the US are around $2, and there are all kinds (glitter, speckled, stickers, etc). Some come with plastic, like the thing Kate picked up thinking was a bag, and it's actually shrink wrap that you heat up. It conforms to the egg's shape (not sure if the kit you received had that though). The whopper eggs are my favorite, but nobody else in my family likes them🤷‍♀️. We love the starburst jelly beans because they have so much flavor & a different consistency than a jelly belly jellybean. Plus, it's fun to get excited for something that comes out only once a year.

    The Hershey Company acquired the Cadbury license, in the US, in 1988. If any Cadbury labeled product from the US looks or tastes different to what you guys have in England, it's because Hershey's is putting their own spin on Cadbury products (if I remember right, Hershey's makes their own interpretations of Cadbury recipes and they also may not use the same packaging).

Especially because I can’t go out, my daughter is our assigned shopper and she is still working so we’re hunkered down in the countryside by the ocean. Enjoyed watching this! I have a chirping chick here. Jelly beans are big at Easter. Cotton candy you can usually get at fairs here in America though, it is not really that big at Easter time. That is a raccoon not a penguin. We don't usually have carnivals here in Ohio at Easter time, we usually have carnivals and fairs in the Summer time, before school begins in the Fall.

    HEY YOU TWO .....HAPPY TO SEE YOU GUYS ARE HANGING IN THERE! JELLY BEANS ARE HUGE AT EASTER HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. BUT YOU CAN GET THEM ANYTIME BUT IT SEEMS ALL KINDS OF COMPANIES COME OUT WITH JELLYBEANS AT EASTER. THAT COTTON CANDY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TREATS. YOU CAN GET ANYTIME BUT THE CONTAINER CHANGES PER SEASON. BUT YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT.....YUMMY! THE LITTLE CHIRPING CHICK BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AND I ACTUALLY HAVEN'T SEEN THEM IN A LONG TIME. SO CUTE! ROBIN EGGS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EASTER CANDY. I ALWAYS BUY EXTRA SO WHEN EASTER IS OVER I CAN HAVE SOME FOR LATER. LOL! I LOVE TO SUCK ON THEM AND EVENTUALLY THEY MELT AWAY. ALSO THEY PAINT YOUR MOUTH CRAZY. IF YOU LICK THE CANDY AND THEN USE IT LIKE LIPSTICK ON YOUR LIPS...ITS FUNNY WHAT WILL HAPPEN. I KNEW YALL WOULD LOVE THE RUSSELL STOVERS. WHAT A GREAT AND YUMMY BOX! OH....ALMOST FORGET.....THE PAAS ARE ALSO A CLASSIC. THAT PARTICULAR KIT IS THE BASIC ONE AND HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE I WAS A KID (A LONG TIME AGO) BUT THEY HAVE MANY DIFFERENT KITS NOW. TIE DYE KITS, GLITTER EGGS, WITH ALL KINDS OF STICKERS AND SUCH. THEMED KITS TOO AND SOME CUPS THAT ALL YOU DO IS ADD WATER AND THE DYE IS IN THE CUP. I DIDNT KNOW YOU GUYS MAINLY HAVE BROWN EGGS AS OUR EGGS ARE MAINLY WHITE (ALTHOUGH I JUST SAW BLUE AND RED EGGS AT THE GROCERY STORE A FEW WEEKS AGO...THAT WAS A SHOCK). THANKS YOU TWO...SUCH A HAPPY PLACE IN A TIME OF STRESS AND WORRY! YOU TWO STAY SAFE AND THANKS FOR BEING YOU! LONG DISTANCE HUGS AND LOVE~JANE

      The gooey bars are called Outrageous! in the states. You can get them with Reese's pieces inside or Oreo cookies inside along with the peanut butter and caramel. I bought one today, as a matter of fact! The caramel has a tendency to leak out of the bar onto the wrapper causing a sticky mess. Other than that they're delicious.
