@@carbon.the.christ5626 not just in the college, but in the league too. iverson was dunking all the way until his nuggets days. prime iverson probably had something like a 36 inch standing vert and 4.4 speed, maybe a sub-4 20 yard shuttle, and 10ft+ broad jump. easily one of the most athletic players to ever hoop.

Guaranteed contracts. He played less than 3/5 of games in his last 2 years with much declined productivity - earned $20+ million. An NFL player like that could get cut and get nothing.
Longevity. He played 14 years in NBA. With his slight frame, he wouldn't have lasted that long in NFL (at that time). He was slowed by various injuries in the NBA. He was just crazy tough and played through them. I doubt he could do the same after being crunched by NFL linemen given how long he held the ball.
Endorsements. He got $50 million during his career. $32 million in a trust from Reebok at age 55. Another $800k annually for LIFE. Not too many NFL players get that much as endorsers? At around the same time period, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Tracy Mcgrady were among players who got more massive endorsement deals. Even Gilbert Arenas got $40 mil.

I've always been a big Allen Iverson fan and one thing that I've noticed is if you watch his old basketball games with the 76ers when the game was at a timeout and he had the ball in his hand he always threw the ball to the referee like a quarterback.. he would release it and watch it in the air all the way until the referee catches it, I saw this maybe over 100 times

Look up “The Hampton Four” Feb 14 1993.
Racism is the reason he stopped playing football - A white guy named Steve Forest called him the N-word at a bowling alley called “Circle Lanes”, a fight broke out after the same guy threw a chair at him and his friends for being black in his presence, Iverson was blamed even though he was the one attacked because Forrest's family was "well off" and was facing 15 years in jail as a result. He spent four months in jail which caused him to lose all of his football scholarship offers. He was being scouted by D-1 schools like Florida State for football.

To me the thing that's most impressive is he played basketball like it was his ultimate passion. I know a lot of guys who loved one sport but were just more talented in another sport and while they played hard you knew it wasn't their obsession. You never got that from Iverson, he played as though his life was on the line and that speaks to how competitive he was... even if he didn't want to talk about practice.
