$33k per quarter is $132 per year. Good grief that’s a lot of taxes. The highest tax rate in Australia is 45%. Of course that only applies on a marginal income over a certain amount. So without going into complicated tax research in Australia I’ll guess her overall net rate is 35%. Meaning a net income of $377k. It’s probably good for Jade that it’s mostly guys watching this channel. Otherwise she might have a tremendous uptick in competition as a great many waitresses, admin assistants, and cashiers just realized that Jade pays more in taxes than they earn.
Misinforming video! That amount is not the tax you paid. It is GST (indirect tax paid by clients). Indirect tax is paid by end consumers and not by the service provider. You just collect tax from them on behalf of the tax authorities and remit the tax to the government. The tax you pay is income tax (or equivalent direct tax) which is the tax applicable on your personal income. Such direct tax is paid annually and not quarterly (like GST).
Yes. Technically my clients pay the gst. But as it is built into the price it feels like I am paying it. It’s also worth mentioning that I don’t get my advertised rate as 10% goes to gst hence why I included it here. It’s very hard to explain the nuances of tax in 60 sec
