Onager price hike is good, but a massive one like this in lieu of fixing what's actually broken about them (ignition rules and Cataclysm, plus many many layers of Imperial dice correction) means they're still going to dominate competitively. It can still fire across the entire board on round 1, add dice to its ignition attack, guarantee the optimal roll each time, can't be salvoed, etc, it's still insane value that's well worth +28pts. Donager is probably gone now though, which I'm mostly happy about.
IMO the Matchstick nerf is fair; free Rogue for 8 y wings after Deltakin clears the skies wasn't reasonable. New Matchstick is still viable in Bail/Lumi y wing spam lists. A small buff to Plo or Acclamators or Obi-Wan or smth would've been cool though, bc basically every way of flying GAR is nerfed hard EXCEPT the one that (at least from my POV) was already becoming way too spammy and cookie-cutter for my liking. Supercarrier Ven + PE Pelta + MM Consular + Y Wings & Deltakin under Bail or Lumi (mostly Bail) is already the main GAR list, and it now basically only has to find 4pts more for Tranquility - and it dumpsters everything else GAR can put on the table.
That said, I'm absolutely going to have a blast flying New Anakin C70s all over the place, and no amount of losing to Gunnery Team ISDs or every faction's bombers is going to stop me 🎉👏
I do like to see someone with a positive take on the Anakin change. Anakin MSU spam could be very deadly.
Im going to miss the idea of Salvo Anakin, but hopefully his new wording is a sign of future RR to come with Arquitens for the Republic. 🤞

Wish the list was a little longer to be honest. But nice to see that Anni got fixed, and the onagers needed adjustment
Who knows, maybe we'll see a trend in the future of AMG making further adjustments.
Having played with most of the changes at this point, I definitely feel like they were good for the game. I strongly agree with most of the RR2 changes, Romodi, Agate, and the upgrade card nerfs. However, I kind of miss onagers. As negative of a play experience as they could be, they helped keep in check certain listbuilding archetypes, and with the massive points increase, I never see them anymore. This is probably how it should be, onagers are a specialized tool that never should have been the go to choice, it just feels weird that I haven’t played against one in months. I also haven’t interacted with Draven. I’m glad he’s slightly better but man, if the timing windows were just a little smoother he could’ve been really good.

Agreed. I like the concept of his old mechanic, it just needed to be reigned in a bit.
I mainly play Rebels, both casually and competitively, and I'm on board with the change to Draven's ability. He explores a new type of mechanic not promoted enough with the rebel faction in my opinion (they should disrupt their opponent considering the way we see the rebels fight in the movies/series/etc) Overall super enthusiastic with the other changes (maybe minus wat officer nerf..)!
I like the planning ahead, strategic level of his ability. I think you could really mess with your opponent with him.

Great Armada players who dominated with Onagers will find a new way to dominate. No losses. Mediocre players who dominated with Onagers will need to improve.
The Anakin debacle just indicates that balancing a game that is played in multiple languages, and on several continents with a large fanbase is very difficult. I'm glad to see the end of "Star Wars- Best of Onager-Anakin" and the return of Star Wars Armada
100% agree here. The errata changes were needed and I think fair.
If this was the anakin the community should have ever seen since day one of RR2. Then i bet this level of errata by amg for armada would have never happened. Though i do like the price increase for onagers
Agreed. If this Anakin was released first, we might not have even gotten a new errata.
Is it possible these changes where made because there is something coming that they would have been broken with if left as is?
I don't have faith in AMG for that. I would love to be proved wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't think ever. Someone else needs to buy the game from them as they are showing zero interest in developing the game beyond rules updates.

😢great assessment Ben, I agree with it all ! Good to see Anakin got dumped. (terrible for the game), not sure matchstick needed it, but ok. Tamed the onager potential at bit, nice to see. I'm one of many veteran players that's probably pretty happy with the change. Then again, maybe not. Especially those who thought Anakin was the bomb.

.. you could have countered onagers by making them unique, instead of taxing them to the hilt
... sorry i've been wanting them cheaper from day one as well as cheaper decimators
