    2 questions
    1. Did you install a mainshaft bearing support on the trans? If so did you have any problems running the mid control bracket in front of it?
    2. Is the peg strong enough to stand on?

    I'm building my 81 shovel now, and have a rotary top / cow pie trans. I love your foot clutch setup. Where did you find the clutch release arm/ linkage going to the foot pedal arm?

      My clutch arm made for this.

    Real cool Shovelhead you have there! I have one also. Will you please tell me what belt set up that is on your Shovel there pictured? BDL I assume, but what are the numbers? For example my dry primary is running a BDL 31-47-SK3 and that is front pully 31, basket 47 with a 1.5 inch wide - 11mm (tooth pitch) and 99 teeth. With a belt tentioner. So if I convert it over like yours which pully, basket and belt do I use (with no tentioner, of course) I'm thinking my current 99 tooth belt will be TOO loose (can I use a 11mm with less teeth???) Please fill me in if you can! Thanks a million!

      Thanks for your comment.My belt kit is made by Primo. I think it is a front pulley 41, rear pulley 61, belt width 1.5 inch, tooth pitch 8mm.To adjust the belt tension, a transmission adjustment plate is used.

    Did you cut the starter ring gear off, or buy the basket like that?

      I want to know the same thing, because I have an enclosed 11mm 1.5 inch BDL on mine now with a 99t belt. I want to take everything off and make it just like this guy has his pictured here. I thought I heard somewhere that you gotta switch it to an 8mm 1.5 inch system. To get the belt tension right (without the belt tentioner). For example mine is a 47-31-SK3 (99t) and the happywrench dude (THAT"S where I heard this...) said it's 62-40-SK3 (132t) which comes with a 8mm belt. Anyways, I can't find anything in print about this directly. Just a bunch of vague bs. If you know anything with you please run it down to me?! Thanks a million man...

      Originally, a basket without starter ring gear.

    Looked like you were trying to shift into gear without using the clutch and not even riding it. WHY???

    • @ludditeneaderthal
      @ludditeneaderthal 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wayne Metevia suicide clutch, not a shifter. Notice when the foot lever is depressed, the clutch slips. That's what the sound is, the dry clutch slipping. You use it with a hand shift. Unusual in that it's on mid mount pegs, usually you see it with forward sets, or floor boards. The hand shift used with a suicide is most often a jockey (under the left thigh), but you also see them with tank or downtube shifter occasionally. The old gated tank shift models (like flats, knucks, and early pans) had a rocker clutch that used a friction brake and toe/heel pedal that allowed the rider to disengage the clutch by toeing the front down, and the friction setup would hold that position so you could have your left foot for balance while stopped. You then rocked the back down with your heel to engage the clutch. A suicide is like a car clutch, unless held it spring loads toward engagement. The suicide/jockey mod saves a few pounds and eliminates quite a few parts over a gated tank shift and rocker, and also allows a wider choice of tanks, like a wassel or a peanut with no gate mounts
