I bought 2007 Odyssey new, EXL DVD and Navigation. Today, she has 227K mi (9/2021) and is still running. No problem on transmission. Engine had oil leak 2yrs ago but fixed (that's the major issue to me). Other than that, minor issues like driver side door latch, alternator, AC compressor, pwr steering pump, batteries, starter, suspension, ... got them all repaired or replaced.
I love my Honda odessy 2006 touring. What they didn't mention is the amazing fuel economy. If you can afford a touring buy one... there is no other van on the market that will do more, carry more, or work harder for you. I love mine!
If you like the Odyssey, you'd love the 2013 Sienna SE. I said I'd never get a van, but when I saw this van, it's really not that much of a compromise. It's very sporty looking, and comfortable. I love it.
Give me a 10 page thesis on PowerPoint on your own personal Research backed by scientists from at least one multi million dollar company proving your findings
2020... my Honda odyssey 2008 still running very good, just have road trip last week Denver to Los Angeles and Grand Canyon and back to Denver Colorado. Nonstop driving.
my family had a dodge grand caravan for 3 years then the transmission went out. we have had our odyssey for 5 years now and it has never had one problem
My sister had an '03 Caravan that constantly had problems with the AC (she went several summers with no AC because of the cost to fix). She replaced it with a '15 Caravan (against my recommendation for the Odyssey). I rode in it the other day when it was very hot out, and guess what - the AC did not blow very cold air even thought it was set at 64 degrees. My '06 Odyssey and even my old '02 TL will still blow ice cold air.
snorman1911 Really? Wow lol, that's like the opposite of my family. My mom's odyssey's ac is completely dead, but my dad's 06 Caravan's ac is still going strong.
No i;m not a mom but i'm a dad but i love my 06 Honda Odyssey plus i'm a bass head i have 4 15" subwoofer on my odyssey with a 3000 watts amplifier . this thing really bumps,
I agree. The neon,pt cruiser and 300m were market leaders. These cars started trends seen today. The Pacifica started the crossover trend and is a nice car. Same as the Crossfire.
i have a 1996 dodge grand caravan and i carried 1926 pounds of cargo in the back over the weekend with no problems it is a awesome vihicle and has served me well.
I rock my Honda Odyssey. It's bad ass I can sit comfortably in the backseat have a lot of red leg room sit back relax and watch the TV. I did upgrade kind of I have a Roku stick
Ya know, Chrysler minivans are really not bad. I have a 1998 Town & Country with 120,000 and no problems. I have a 2005 with 68,000 and no problems. They have both performed everytime i start them. They are sure smooth, and the 3.3 is the most dependable engine ever. I rented a 2009 Grand Caravan, and took it to New Hampshire. It had the 4.0 liter and 6 speed tranny, and that car was terrific. smooth, quiet, very powerful and user-friendly. Also averaged around 26 highway on the steep mountains
we tested one 2008 Grand Caravan SXT 4.0L V6 120,000miles with swivel n go seats, we loved it, 4.0 has power 251hp, felt like driving a muscle car lol but no and it spins the wheel and chirps no matter where u at, has great low end power. and gets 25mpg average. handles very well but ride quailty is ok u can feel every bumps but still rides great. SXT package is nice! it comes with all in front and rear seating heated seats, dual climate control, VES DVD and Video games with 110V, SirusRadio, NAV, back up camera, swivel the seats with table, electric 3rd row seat recliner, power liftgate and sliding doors, many more its like fully loaded. great van. note, if u get stow n go seating, they are bit smaller less cushion so fits in the floor its uncomfortable for long trip, the swivel n go had more cushion and lot more comfy for long trip and it doesnt go into the floor, will take it off for more cargo space. looking forward to get one.
Koletyn Kenney hi I was wondering if you can help me. I am thinking about buying a dodge caravan it has 133,000 miles. It's 2011 model. How many do you think it will get up too? Thank you
I happily own a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. It's a really nice car. Old, yet classy and luxurious. I have a good mechanic and the previous owner took good care of it. I am handicapped too, so it is adapted well for me. Grand Caravans are the best for converting for a disabled person. And it feels fast and drives nice.
It wouldn't surprise me if the entertainment system results in more automotive accidents. It's so flashy and amazing, you wouldn't notice the countless number of things you run over until you finally look up.
I have driven both new 2010 Dodge and 2010 Odyssey. Dodge feels like you in a plane cus of the inside lighting feature and the TouchScreen DVD and backup can is a Plus. but ride quality and handling sucks big time. On the other hand Odyssey feels more well built and great handling. After all it's a Honda. A name you can trust always. Plus in the long run it will last longer and worth something. Thats why I Bought a Odyssey.... ;)
honda oddysey has 2 engines, a 244hp v6 on the lx and ex, and a 241 hp v6 on the ex-l and touring models with the multy cylender tecnoligy. They were showing the 241 hp touring with pax
This Odyssey ran circles around that generation of Grand Caravan, despite having a design that was 3 years older. And Chrysler just discontinued that same generation of Grand Caravan. Imagine having a brand new van that's not even as good as a 16-year-old van from another manufacturer. January 14, 2021 3:24 am
It is a beast. Once we were going 110-115 MPH with 7 people and 20 lbs. of luggage in it. Alos, we managed 0-60 in 7.6-7.8 secs with only 2 people in the van.
We had a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with lots of rust. Its now rust in peace. We now own a 2008 Honda Odyssey. We like it so far. Lots of options and comfortable ride.
I have a 07 Grand Caravan with the 3.8L V6, and it used to put out 285 hp....I tuned it up to over 300....at most stoplights, the front end break loose, causing it to go to the right a lot of times...I keep the trac off, because I left it on one time and when I left the light, I blew one of the tires, or as they say, ripped it!
hahah dodge transmission went to Limp-in-Mode after the quarter mile run 85mph into 2nd gear. Had a Honda in the family since '76 and gonna keep it that way . Thanks, Certified Honda Technician
I know you wrote that 2 years ago but the Chrysler vans are actually made in Canada and the Odyssey is made in Alabama, so when you buy the Chrysler van you are actually supporting the Canadian economy
In 06 the hp rateing is now sae rated so many of the 05's rateings are higher. Pontiac G6 used to put out 170hp for the 4 cylr. In 06 it became 167hp in 07 its 169hp. Don't worry your oddy still puts out more power then the base Caravan. The van tested was the SXT with optional 4lt.Oddessy has more standard power and so does Toyota and Nissan.
...and I put wider tires on it so it grips better, espically in conering, using the same factory rims...looks more like a sport van....soon, I will redo the exhaust...with stow n go its tricky, but a pro exhaust shop can do it for under 500..it will have a deep mellow tone not loud, but you'll know its there!
i wonder if they put some decent wide tires on the caravan, what handling numbers would be there is to much sidewall & too little contact patch...which is even worse from the huge sidewall flexing
I'm driving a 1995 honda odyssey, and it has just under 300.000km on it and it still runs like a top! The only problem here in canada is the rust of course!
The Honda feels very nice and solid on the road and so does the interior. The Caravan's interior is GARBAGE, though I'm sure they've improved upon that, with the upgrades from last year.
ok well that wasnt right for them to compare the prices like that...considering they maxed out the engine option on the dodge, had they done a standard feature comparison like they gave for the oddesy they would have found that the prices are almost the same, and actually the dodge is starting at around $22,000 because of their employee pricing offers
The Chrysler Minivan is built right in my backyard (literally) in Windsor, ON. The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chysler Town and Country are awesome! Too bad they're discontinuing the Grand Caravan soon. Hopefully they'll build something else in the plant to replace the Grand Caravan (they'll still be building the new Town and Country there) or else they might have to get rid of a shift (they have three right now).
***** 3.6 that has 283hp it nosey it likes to down shift a lot. I own 2014 and I hate it. Stow n go nice but it doesn't have same confort as the 4th had. Also own very nice 2000 grand caravan es awd and it is very comfortable and very power motor. It has a 3.8 liter v6 and it is quicker then my 3.6 v6 in my new minivan
Oh we have a 2006 Grand Caravan and my dad has a 2014 for work and he loves both. I like driving the 2006 a lot. We also have a 2014 200 and it's a great car. I don't think they'll change their minds though. The Town and Country will be continued though which is similar to the Grand Caravan.
Did I hear that right? That Dodge's SXT (loaded) van is only $4000 than Honda's bottomline vehicle. Maybe I am not understanding that correctly but how is that a bad thing. A fully loaded vehicle for only $4000 more than a baseline vehicle. I have owned 2 Dodge vans and LOVE them. I am very excited to know I will be looking for another new one come this spring. :)
Actually that wasn't a Walter P Chrysler Edition, that's just a Grand Caravan, i'm talking about a full tilt Town & Country with that package. Maybe the Odyessey has slightly better numbers but a WPC Town & Country has a much nicer interior which is what most all care about in a minivan, comfort not which pulls the most g's on a skidpad.
Anyway, the comparison is only between Dodge and Honda. Not GM and not Ford. So, if we're gonna banter on about which one's the best, let's stick to the topic at hand instead of what could have been.
I think the minivan's "mom-car" reputation needs to end. Sure, they happen to be the perfect vehicle for shuttling large numbers of kids about, but they're pretty excellent even if you drive solo. On the rare occasion when I throw gas-conservation to the four winds and decide to get to the speed-limit ASAP in my 03 Windstar, I am rewarded with all the acceleration I'd ever want, an an exhaust note that puts my dad's V-8 Ram to shame. At all other times, it's like riding on a cushion of air.
The transmission problems were fixed like ten years ago. Have you read about the Honda's transmission problems. I would have gotten the Honda if it was the better minivan.
How about some impotant features. There is never a towing demo or how the carpets resists gummy bears. There should be a throw back van. A 70's style with shag carpet and a waterbed. Maybe a cool cb radio and some groovy paint.
so what one would you put your family in?? (I'm assuming family car = safety first) The Dodge with alarmingly unresponsive steering and DODGEy breaks; "the pedal went to the floor every time", i've driven a car that done this once before and it gave me the willies. All for the tiny bit of xtra power you won't even notice.
Ya, these tests make sense for a passenger van. Just in case your outrunning the cops and need to swerve in and stop for a quick bite at McDonalds: a quick in and out and your back on the run... err road.
the engine on the 2007-present Dodge Caravan/ Lancia Voyager Engine 3.3 L 175 hp (130 kW) V6 3.8 L 197 hp (147 kW) V6 4.0 L 251 hp (187 kW) V6 3.6 L 283 hp (211 kW) V6
the as base as it gets Honda starts at $29000 and the caravan third up the ladder sxt starts at $24000 I couldn't even afford a Honda but I got a real nice Caravan. If you got a Caravan crew that starts at $28000 you would get a lot more for the money including leather and soft to the touch and better made switchgear. This was a one sided test bias to Honda.
The killer feature on the Chrysler is that ALL four rear seats fold into the floor. No need to remove 50-80 lb seats and find someplace to put them. Plus, the storage space underneath the middle seats is great for stashing away all of your crap and keeping the van clean. Having said that, I don't like most of the changes for '08. Uglier. Stupid gear shift placement, copying Honda and Toyota for no good reason. More expensive. I'll probably just buy my '06 when the lease is up.
I've owned both models. Bottom line is the Chrysler feels great until it's about 2 years old. The Odyssey still feels new after 7 years and 175k kms. Fully loaded the Chrysler has questionable stopping power - I'd leave extra room in front on the highway. The Odyssey never worried me for stopping power. And when you trade it in - the Honda is actually still worth something. You decide - do you want good brakes or an extra DVD screen?
are you serious? the only thing the caravan has over the odyssey is power and that would matter so much if it was for racing or performance. But obviouosly, minivans are for comfort and odyssey owns caravan in every category from confort to safety and not to mention the MORE luxurious looks inside and out. Oh, did i mention that odyssey gets better mileage? And fully loaded, the odyssey costs $4000 less? yeah case dismissed.
yes touring is better for a family van i agree, your prolly looking at it from that point of view, but i was looking on the side of performance and handling, sorry
What is it that makes these people disparage minivans on just about every road test? And why do they put minivans on the track to test cornering Gs but not mention either's mpg, visibility or turning circle?
exactly. While Chrysler spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on Ads in these magazines. Honda only spends thousands. Therefore the magazines rather glorify Caravan.
We own a 2007 Odyssey Touring and had to rent a Caravan a couple of days. We also live in a hilly area and never had any problems getting the Oddy up hills with a body in every seat. Can't say the same for the Caravan (maybe a 2010). Couldn't wait to get the Oddy back! The Caravan literally struggled to get up the same hills. I love dodge cars and would buy the Challenger or Charger, but I'll stay away from the minivans for now....
well we all knew that honda would win. i mean come on!?? honda usually beats everyone in everything. they even build the best engines, they hold the title for building more engines than anyone else, AND, not one single honda v-tech engine has EVER failed.
08 civic si stock 22k, 08 Neon srt-4 stock 23k, wow what a difference there man, your future is protected by faulty japanese airbags that have about a 50% chance of deploying compared the the dodge's American Steel, and great airbags
Yeah, don't get that dodge. When the blower stops working in the rear, to reprogram the control module, was over $400. They said the video was outdated. It worked 2 weeks (off and on) , then they wanted $1600 to replace the module and the directional doors. My friend is not too happy about it.
in anemities and features the dodge wins. however, the dodges quality and fit and finish of materials is very cheap and hard, while the honda's quality is top notch and materials are soft to the touch. honda's are also much more reliable.
so many people are fighting about what is quicker a 4000 pound soccer moms box minvan......all minivans are less than 7.5sec in 0-60.....ITS A MINIVAN! not for street racing.
Compared to the Odyssey, the Caravan is cheap and un-refined, due to the use of hard plastics, uneven/sharp edges or finishes, large panal gaps on the exterior, and an unrefined engine compared to the Honda. Also, the Odyssey is more reliable and hold up better. The Odyssey uses top-notch materials and has a refined suspension system and engine. However, on egranomics, the Caravan wins. And, the Odyssey feels like a sports car when driving too.
Odyssey- Sleek and aerodynamic Caravan- Blunt and brick-like Odyssey- Refined and smooth engine Caravan- Brute force and clunky Odyssey- High quality and well designed Caravan- Cheap and low quality design Odyssey- Expensive but more for your buck Caravan- Cheap but lower quality and refinment Odyssey > Caravan

Never been a mom(and never will be) but I just bought an Odyssey and I love it!!
Love your videos.
why are you only basing that just only on styling?
Stow and go with Dodge is cooler
Ill never be a mom becuaseuase im a guy
Melanie Martin more room for “activities 😛😉😉”
I like the Odyssey more. More Spacious and last larger. Plus it got good test crash testing.

The Dodge with alarmingly unresponsive steering and DODGEy breaks; "the pedal went to the floor every time", i've driven a car that done this once before and it gave me the willies. All for the tiny bit of xtra power you won't even notice.
i have the 2007 TOYOTA PREVIA SMART!! AND IS THE BESSSTTT!!!
Tmi.
The dodge looks more like a utility van while the odyssey looks like a family van.
Ya, these tests make sense for a passenger van. Just in case your outrunning the cops and need to swerve in and stop for a quick bite at McDonalds: a quick in and out and your back on the run... err road.
I like the lights on the 07s better than the 08s.
the engine on the 2007-present Dodge Caravan/ Lancia Voyager
Engine
3.3 L 175 hp (130 kW) V6
3.8 L 197 hp (147 kW) V6
4.0 L 251 hp (187 kW) V6
3.6 L 283 hp (211 kW) V6
the as base as it gets Honda starts at $29000 and the caravan third up the ladder sxt starts at $24000 I couldn't even afford a Honda but I got a real nice Caravan. If you got a Caravan crew that starts at $28000 you would get a lot more for the money including leather and soft to the touch and better made switchgear. This was a one sided test bias to Honda.
Cheaper and more reliable. Done deal. Love my 2007!!! 230K miles and still going strong.
Running a stop sign lol, well advertised.
Why did Honda go to 244 HP in the newer Oddy? I have an 05 that is rated at 255 HP.
Also, they didn't factor in diy repair costs or estimated future resale values.
I have an 08 town and country touring with the dual tv's and you CAN play games in the dodge.
I love my Ody. Dodge makes some seriously ugly cars. They look like airport shuttles.
They don't look anything like airport shuttles you idiot.
Madiemic0506 i agree with the fact
Munchkine26 yes they do you dumb fucken idiot!
Madiemic0506 Fuck You I have the BEST GRAND CARAVAN
They are mainly fleet vehicles.
are you serious?
the only thing the caravan has over the odyssey is power and that would matter so much if it was for racing or performance.
Please the oil parcentages are read -808% cn the dash board
yes touring is better for a family van i agree, your prolly looking at it from that point of view, but i was looking on the side of performance and handling, sorry
Stow and go will always win for me plus I'm also a Dodge fan and I love Dodges sporty look
What is it that makes these people disparage minivans on just about every road test? And why do they put minivans on the track to test cornering Gs but not mention either's mpg, visibility or turning circle?
@cream10451 They also forgot to mention the honda's service costs 900 dollars.
exactly. While Chrysler spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on Ads in these magazines. Honda only spends thousands. Therefore the magazines rather glorify Caravan.
Grand caravan has repeater. Honda Odyssey doesn't have a repeater because it's older than the Grand caravan 2008
We have a Grand Caravan SXT and it goes up the hills perfectly. We found this out when my family and I went camping.
well we all knew that honda would win. i mean come on!?? honda usually beats everyone in everything. they even build the best engines, they hold the title for building more engines than anyone else, AND, not one single honda v-tech engine has EVER failed.
That was perhaps the best April Fool's day prank ever!
Screw minivans, we got a used '04 Volvo XC90. It's the safest car out there & gets 23 MPG
Bullshit my oddesy peels to second gear
so many people are fighting about what is quicker a 4000 pound soccer moms box minvan......all minivans are less than 7.5sec in 0-60.....ITS A MINIVAN! not for street racing.
Great review!
@Beantown96 Sorry to hear that buddy at least you weren't hurt man!! and I agree Odysseys are the best and most attractive minivans on the road today.
That's true Chrysler has more feature but let see how long it will last, maybe 3 yrs or less.
Excellent review he was right on the money.
Yeah and they forgot to mention that after that test Dodge had to install a New Transmission on the Test Van. Honda is Made to Last.
@Danexman your honda can go up to tht much miles?!?!?!?
@sidescrollshot86 Which is exactly why Chrysler has built the best selling minivan in America!
Odyssey- Sleek and aerodynamic
Caravan- Blunt and brick-like
Odyssey- Refined and smooth engine
Caravan- Brute force and clunky
Odyssey- High quality and well designed
Caravan- Cheap and low quality design
Odyssey- Expensive but more for your buck
Caravan- Cheap but lower quality and refinment
Odyssey > Caravan
