Noosa '25. Two years ago European friends said they wanted to do Noosa, so I decided to join them, and set myself the goal of doing some sprint triathlons in 2023 at the age of 59, then joining them in Noosa on the Olympic Course when I turned 60 - ie 2024. I achieved my goal, but unfortunately I couldn't go hard, as I had a stent put in 15 days before the event, and was told "If I do have to do it, then just don't go for a personal best". It was my second Olympic distance and only 3 weeks after my first. So I took it easy, but now I feel I have some unfinished business and have entered again in '25, and hope to knock some time off. It's a cracking event, and they really love overseas entries, so while it is already sold out, if your an international competitor, maybe write to them and see if they can find you an extra slot. See you there - I'll be the old guy with the big smile
None. I am coming back from a long time with illness and no real training apart from walking and a bit of strength training. So my aim is to get back into training.
Special note about Wildflower is that they have many race options in addition to the long course option. I’ve done the Olympic distance several times as a college student (they have a dedicated start for college teams, which is really cool) and can say it provides the same challenge and beauty as the long course event in a smaller package. This is great for people who are not quite confident in the 70.3 distance but still want the Wildflower experience. It was one of my favorite races and I have many fond memories closing out the college season with my teammates there.
I'd include challeneg wanaka. Possible one of the most picturesque races in the world. Although I prefered the old course (Swim in lake wanaka, ride out to glendu then turn around head back through town, up to hawea and over the red bridge. Then the run course is the outlet track and gunn rd). Its still a true bucket list race.
@ Of course! It’s my first triathlon (thinking of doing a sprint this spring just for the practice). Retired alpine skier now doing triathlons so it will be exciting 😅. 21 years old and full time student, so the schedule is packed, but think i manage to fit in all the training 🏃♂️🚴♂️🏊♂️
Thanks GTN - that’s an industrial-sized bucket of future dreams right there. I’m sure you’ve got a long list of honourable mentions that didn’t make the top 10 - enough to do another similar video next year (although perhaps publish it earlier in the off season when people are putting together their race calendar for the next year, and still have a hope of getting entries for these races before they sell out).
Huskisson Triathlon Festival in Oz is celebrating their 20th anniversary in Feb 2025. There are multiple events from yoga, swims, runs, short/long/ultra triathlons and Aquabike. A fantastic weekend of fun for thousands of athletes.
I’m planning for going to support in Kalmar after my T100 London. It is just a week between. So great is Kalmar that you want to be there even you not compete.
After doing my first ever triathlon (70.3)last year close to home I will do the same this year as well as a half distance in an former (now flooded) surface mining pit and on top was able to get an entry to the Berlin Marathon. So training is already on the way!
Interesting list. After 38 seasons, Embrun is the only race on my bucket list. Of course. Number one on all triathletes bucket lists shoulde be - support my local events.
I'm doing Sgrail 100 this year for the third time in a row, it's such an awesome event 🤩 . This year there is an Sgrail 80 in Switzerland if memory serves. Love this videos where you showcase iconic races but that we, age groupers, could potentially do. I'm debating whether going half distance or do mostly Olympic distance 😅 so my calendar has a few spots to decide.
I will do T100 in London 🙂. Even Mark think is a boring course. IM Kalmar is the best Ironman competition in the world. Kona is also fantastic. Marie-Louise 🇸🇪
There’s Barrelman Niagara - a 70.3 distance point-to-point race in southern Ontario in September, and there’s the Toronto Triathlon Festival in July with a swim in Lake Ontario and bike/run along some of the city’s highways.
I second the comment about more about Xterra and other off-road triathlons. I would then add Xterra South Africa, in the beautiful Western Cape, to the list of triathlons to do in 2025 😊
There is a new Ironman triathlon hitting the scene this year. Ironman Ottawa 2025. 3 Aug in Canada's capital. Of course it's sold out. I will be doing a 113 this Aug 2025 in Ottawa (a113 is metric for a 70.3). See how things go maybe get a spot for full in 2026, fingers crossed!
I will be attempting the Geordieman 70.3 in 2025. Did the full in 2024 with broken ribs (came in second to last - my first full distance, so cancelling was not an option for me). Beautiful location and challenging also. Highly recommended 🏊🚲🏃♂️
Clash Daytona race should have been on this list. You swim in a canal INSIDE the famous Daytona NASCAR racing track, then you bike AROUND the same NASCAR track before heading to Daytona main high for 90km. The whole run leg takes place INSIDE Daytona NASCAR track.
Working my way up to the big events. Kansas City Tri and Omaha (Nebraska) Tri as well as some half marathons local to me are already on the schedule for me in '25. Maybe in 2026 or 2027 will be my transition to the big races. We all gotta start somewhere.
You forgot to mention the CHICAGO TRIATHLON's TRIPLE CHALLENGE - completing all 3 races over the weekend! Or attempt the unofficial 105km "QUADRUPLE" challenge with the fun @divvybikes division race as a 4th race!
There is a nice one not mentioned here. The Airliembeach tri. Its only a sprint add not a big one. But i have done it a few times. And it is one I enjoyed the most.
1066 middle distance triathlon down on the south coast of England in Bexhill is a brilliant triathlon. 70.3 for £80 now that is a bargain. Also Castle to Coast by Fullsteam Events is a brilliant and a very hard triathlon as it takes on the Surrey hills and part of the South Downs.
I've done a series of Ironman events...and it's a good experience, but the entry prices are nuts.. nevertheless the vibe that I felt is that they look at you like a pile of money, they don't really care or even fake it. if I do any more Ironman event I will be very surgical in the event I will select
Was there ever an accedent with sharke? I always think about that because there are some much "remote" destinations like australia, south afrika, Hawaii, where sharks are quite normal to see
My first ever triathlon overall was Ironman Austria and I chose it because of its beauty. Flew all the way from Los Angeles and instead of picking one in the US I decided to fly across the ocean. It was worth it. Such a beautiful course. I liked that the bike was just one lap. But Mark, I have to say, that was not a rolling course. It was hilly AF. People were getting off their bikes and walking up. How hilly it was caught me by surprise and by the time the marathon started I had no legs left from those hills. Still super worth it.
Thanks for this breakdown, Alpe d’Huez is my favorite. You content is solid! We help athletes level up their mental game with an AI journal and sessions like visualization and binaural beats. The response has blown my mind and athletes are loving it. Would be fun collaborate - do you mind if I email you?
It’s really annoying that you don’t specify where half of these races actually take place as if you just expect people to know or bother to go out and do research on their own. challenge roth iconic course, okay, ummm what hemisphere does it take place in? you guys dont bother to explain.
What is your list of triathlons or competitions for this year? 🪣✅

Your defenitly misssing te triathlon in Corsica! 70.3 Triathlon de Porticcio!
IM Hamburg, Luxembourg 70.3., Erker 70.3. Did Klagenfurt last year, great Race despite some Rain!
Doing a local half marathon and Ironman 70.3 La Quinta in December (Indian Wells finished their contract as co-host).
Special note about Wildflower is that they have many race options in addition to the long course option. I’ve done the Olympic distance several times as a college student (they have a dedicated start for college teams, which is really cool) and can say it provides the same challenge and beauty as the long course event in a smaller package. You have to mention Xterra. They also have a ton of races to choose from.. You guys should talk more about Xterra and their athletes
NORSEMAN!!! 2.August
Are you looking for that black t-shirt?
@ Of course! It’s my first triathlon (thinking of doing a sprint this spring just for the practice). Retired alpine skier now doing triathlons so it will be exciting 😅. 21 years old and full time student, so the schedule is packed, but think i manage to fit in all the training 🏃♂️🚴♂️🏊♂️
My two goals for this year are in that list: Alpe D'huez and IM Nice :)
Nice is amazing! Enjoy it :)
@@magnusalexander2617 thanks it will be my second long distance. This time adding some elevation gain to the bike course :)
Thanks GTN - that’s an industrial-sized bucket of future dreams right there.

Sea to Summit is world class. What a race. Did it 10+ years ago and still remember every moment.
Roth was amazing! Hope to do it again when I turn 50! Hoping to do some aqua bikes to get back to fitness post surgeries in 2025.
I hope you make it. I did it when I was 52. Singularly, the best event I have ever done.
We also trust that you can do it!
Huskisson Triathlon Festival in Oz is celebrating their 20th anniversary in Feb 2025. There are multiple events from yoga, swims, runs, short/long/ultra triathlons and Aquabike. A fantastic weekend of fun for thousands of athletes.
IM Kalmar this year! 🎉
Good luck!
I’m planning for going to support in Kalmar after my T100 London. It is just a week between. So great is Kalmar that you want to be there even you not compete.
Didn’t James win Alpe d’Huez? Legend.
He did indeed 🎉

Don't forget that Mt Washington has the worst weather on earth so that's also something fun to contend with on the sea to summit tri.
I'm doing Sgrail 100 this year for the third time in a row, it's such an awesome event 🤩 . This year there is an Sgrail 80 in Switzerland if memory serves. Ironman 70.3 in Bolton, UK . My first half distance. All the best everybody!
Cascais IM - beautiful and tough. Amazing vibe
IM Cervia, but first up is The Monster Triathlon. 5k swim in Loch Ness, 1,000km cycle to Windsor then 50km run to Richmond
I will do T100 in London 🙂. Even Mark think is a boring course.
IM Kalmar is the best Ironman competition in the world.
Kona is also fantastic.
Marie-Louise 🇸🇪
Did Kalmar last year the town comes alive for this event the support is amazing. Going back in 2026
I am doing T100 London in 2025 also. The pro course is boring and bad in the docks area, however, age-group course looks to be amazing!
There’s Barrelman Niagara - a 70.3 distance point-to-point race in southern Ontario in September, and there’s the Toronto Triathlon Festival in July with a swim in Lake Ontario and bike/run along some of the city’s highways.
You should put the Triathlon de Gérardmer in the list, he is so iconic
I second the comment about more about Xterra and other off-road triathlons. I would then add Xterra South Africa, in the beautiful Western Cape, to the list of triathlons to do in 2025 😊
I only started running August 24 and I'm signed up for SupBikeRun in May and September :D
Good luck with the training!
Can't believe you didn't mention Ironman Wales!
Innit. Also said “Ironman are back on the UK” 🥴
🏴
@You.Me.Dancing caught that too...
It was a tough decision to leave some events out. Aside from that one, which other triathlon would you have included in your top 10?
Eastbourne ironbourne 70.3 my first half distance
Would love to see more gravel triathlons. I do an artisanal one here in Munich every year. With friends and family.
Thx for the list guys. One more is La 0-3000 on Reunion Island. From the lagoon to the summit of indian ocean.

Enjoy the journey!
Doing my first 70.3 with IM Musselman
I'm doing Escape of Alcatraz triathlon this summer! So excited.
You forgot to mention the CHICAGO TRIATHLON's TRIPLE CHALLENGE - completing all 3 races over the weekend! Or attempt the unofficial 105km "QUADRUPLE" challenge with the fun @divvybikes division race as a 4th race!
Signed up for 70.3 Rapperswil. Probably also one of the most beautiful triathlons. Might do Thun in 26 as my first full distance
Ironman Copenhagen is the best ever!
There is a nice one not mentioned here. The Airliembeach tri. Its only a sprint add not a big one. But i have done it a few times. And it is one I enjoyed the most.
Celtman 2025 for me this year, I did the 70.3 last year and it’s an amazing event.
Roc Scotland

Another cool race is - Escape from Alactaz - Must do before you die race
Already done my first tri for the year, the bug is truly kicking in now
You're still on time

Hey Gtn where is the link to your SGRAIL race?
I signed up for IM70.3 Kraichgau and Zurich City Triathlon
Nice one, good luck
IRONMAN 70.3 Cap Cana
Has either of you done Wales Ironman???
Was there ever an accedent with sharke? I always think about that because there are some much "remote" destinations like australia, south afrika, Hawaii, where sharks are quite normal to see
My triathlon goal for 2025 is an XTERRA Race in Rocky Gap, PA
Laponia triathlon 😊
Starting the year with IronMan 70.3 Pucón in the south of Chile
You missed PatagonMan a 140.6 miles race in beautiful Patagonia Chile
first Ironman event Bolton 70.3
I was pencilling in T100 London but had to ditch it when they moved the date in recent comms. 😢
Which European XTerra event would be your suggestion?
Can’t forget Escape from Alcatraz!
Otillo Casco Bay!
I wish you had included more off road (a.k.a. Cross) triathlons like XTERRA.
I'll be doing a tinman in South Africa, my first duathlon.
Good luck!
Challenge Roth!
You should look at Sourdough Triathlon 70.3 North of Fairbanks Alaska
👀
Still no course info on ironman leeds 😢
WC IM 70.3 in Marbella👌🏽
I've entered the double brutal for 2025 whoop whoop
I've got to give a shout out to Nottingham Outlaw. It's Ironman organisation without the price tag.
Agreed.

10 is maybe a bit much. I will start this year with my first. this has to be enough XD
You don’t have to do all 10 😂, good luck and take care, it’s addictive!

Relax
Doing Challenge Roth in 2025 😅 Swimming in Hudson river is a shit show.. literally...
None in Asia. I feel sad. Don't leave us out.
I did Phuket in 2004 and 2005. Epic!
Only gonna do nine triathlons this year, sorry 😂
Which one are you going to get Si Richardson to do? 😂
😂
IM 70.3 LapuLapu in the 🇵🇭
Roth x100
Im Rio
Algorithm!
I live down the road from Noosa. I decided not to enter this year.
Any particular reason?
Not a triathlon, The RUT 50K. First ever 50K.
IM Nice or IM 70.3 Nice
