- Talking about cold stratifying seeds. A lot of perennial seeds need to be cold stratified to help them germinate. Just a quick lesson on how I do it.

This was the best video I have found. Super easy super short. You are awesome!!!! ❤️
I have watched so many videos on this and this is by far my favorite!
Great advice.
Thank you!
This is a good reminder! I have some flowers seeds that need to go in the freezer
You'll have to share what flowers you are going to plant. I am curious now
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead oh geeze so many. 🤣😅 im trying to remember what from last year needs freezer time. I think morning glory and I know there are more
This is great information, Blessings
Thank you! You too!
Super great tip
Thanks!
Thanks you.
Good information, Sarah! I like your simple method of transferring the seeds from the bags to the little tubs. I'm continually in awe of gardeners in cold climates. It's a lot of work! Here in Zone 9b, winters are mild enough (with nighttime lows usually mid-30s F or higher) that I can sow directly in the ground (or in pots) in late January or early February for a similar "stratification" effect if I want a crop of cool-weather veggies in early spring. I love learning how other people do things -- there is always something I can use in my own garden! Also, your spray bottle at the end is definitely my preferred way to water seedlings.
You are in one of the best zones. It is a little tough for me because of weather. But it keeps me busy year round. I love my spray bottle. I had to buy 3 new ones this year, because i have so many seeds starting.
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead It's true - I definitely am in a great zone for growing year-round, although many plants (like tomatoes) completely stall for a month or more when the super intense heat kicks in mid-July. However, in two or three years, I'll be moving to a different zone, so I'm learning all I can now! ☺️
Hey 👋 great video good info!
Thank you!
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead Welcome
Great info Sarah, thanks for sharing. Take care and have a blessed day.
Thanks! I hope you have a blessed week
Great info, Sara! But oh no, Gardening was challenging enough for me already... Lol!😉 So I could just put them in the fridge without soil for a few weeks? I heard a long time ago goji berries are good for a natural pain killer. Is that what you'll be using it for? Thx for sharing!
Yes, just put the packets in the fridge. I always make sure they are in a plastic bag, just incase something spills. I have never hear that before, about the goij berries. I will have to look into it. Thank you!
Ok, thank you!
Thank thank new I can use xoxo GCF

Yay!! Glad it was helpful. #GCF
Great video, I need to get mine going,,,, a lot to do, just a little bit time 🤣
There's never enough time to get it all done. We just have to try really hard, to keep up.
I’ve had my paw paw seeds in the fridge for a while, and soon I will be able to plant them! 😊 Happy growing.
Good luck with the Paw Paws. I bought a couple trees last year, and i'm hoping they come back in the spring.
I'm doing some seed stratifying too 😄 Hoping this is the ticket to finally grow lavender 😁
Lavender is a tough one. That should help you get better germination. Wishing you luck
Did I hear you say not to stratify some seeds? Is it because it’s not necessary or would it kill them? I mainly concerned about some perennial flower seeds.
All seeds can be frozen, or stored cold. It won't kill them. Most perennial seeds need to be stratified. Just trick them a little, and make them think it's time to be dormant.
omg am I first! Im first! yesssssssss great video gurl
Thank you!
What kind of soil mix is that? I'm literally starting from scratch with nothing.
I used a seed starting mix. It was Jiffy brand. Honestly, i will use what ever brand i can get. It just needs to be loose, and well draining.
Watching again lol
