I'm an intermediate, so I usually just watch your videos cause I like you as a person. However, I really like these tweet analysis videos. I haven't watched this episode yet, however, they've helped me cut away some of the bulk in my understanding of certain grammar patterns. Like, I might actually know how to use these concepts, however, at times it's more like a subconscious understanding. Your videos help a lot to remove some of that vagueness and I find them invaluable.
I wanna thank you for the format of these lessons. Tweets help soooo much to understand natural way of speaking of japanese people. I'm begging you to continue doing these videos. You're great teacher.
These long videos are excellent! I'm sure the short version is good to get a summary of the topic, but the long version helps me practise listening, and covers lots of aside topics that ensure they mean what I think they mean. Could watch this sort of thing all day!
FINALLY how to properly use ほど is starting to become more clear, especially that second usage. Thank goodness. Good shit, looking forward to watching more of your stuff.

This will help language learners prepare for the test with your videos which are relevant to them. (This grammar point appears on the N3 test for example)

The individual one is more exclusive and you may get more options of what members to shake hands with and more time to talk with them.

I had only heard the term 握手会 recently and when I saw this video was curious to look up to see what it was. This page makes it quite clear that the abbreviations are what George said they were in the video. I saw a couple other pictures and clips of these events and it looks very strange, I was picturing more of a small meet and greet with maybe a couple hundred people but it looks more like thousands of people and they basically walk past the singer and shake hands without stopping, so maybe by "a little longer" they mean they get to stop and ask a question? Or based on George's comment maybe I don't want to know.
There is this song by Mogol800 (chisana koi no uta)..... and there is this verse.... 'Hora anata ni totte daiji na hito hodo Sugu soba ni iru no' And none of the explanations of ほど go with it...... I wonder what this ほど means....? 'such an important person for you?'
This does match the ほど from the video. “The one most important to you is the person immediately by your side.” This sentence is hard to digest though I think.

Sorry to make you confused😭 I got confused “全握”, because I though “全” refers “全員”(Everyone = everyone in the group), especially because this person talked about “個握” (individual handshake meeting) in a same sentence. But when George looked it up, it was refereeing “全国”(Countrywide) Perhaps these are common terms for idol groups but I’m not familiar with that, so to me, “all” and “individual” felt more natural sentence wise.
Just want to say: anybody who wants to become an ALT (especially if you end up in JHS or HS) what the Japanese woman is doing (すみませんでした名前を忘れちゃった！本当にすみません) that's basically what your job will be like. Hi mPD780C1. Well actually, I think "20 Seconds Songs"'s sentence is too short to decide subject. So we can't decide 我々（われわれ） as a subject. I think the subject depends on context. Because if you add あなたが ahead of the sentence, the new sentence sounds not unnatural. "AAAほどBBBになる" sentence means, (1) a result of actions (2) show degree/level When it says (1), you can add someone/something that close the captal as subject. When it says (2), the sentence let me sense "3rd person's point of veiw". Instead of someone/something that close the captal and the enemy. I don't explain (2)'s nuance well, however maybe it is similar to "It seems xxx" ? For example, "沖に行くほど、海は深くなる". Also "敵の抵抗" can be the subject, I think. I might be wrong though. Thanks.
@@ManFinest You mean it's not true that they "MIGHT" never be fluent? I think a "MIGHT" can always be true since I didn't say they will "NEVER EVER" be fluent. I chose my words. There are different levels of people for sure. But in my history of teaching Japanese, rarely does the person who only has 7 minutes become fluent. It takes a TON of dedication. I am sure there are outliers though which is why I hedged my words.
