A year ago when I stopped playing. My clan was teamed with another to take on a clan. We had been having issues with them and they did the same crap. Only no one got banned but we could literally not make progress and man. Like we have all since moved on to other games. But when I saw the VOD'S it clicked in my head. Which we always suspected.

I played Ark for five years If something doesn't change with this company, I can't trust them to hold up there end.

as a PVE player I haven't really had to deal with these problems. But seeing other creators and players I know, in the community get railed by Snail Games like this sucks to see.

PVE player here, friends and I play on non-dedicated servers and we love the game. To be honest, don't give two shi** about any of them. 13 minute video for this?
i feel like most pve players have no idea what pvp players have gone through over the years. Simply because its 2 different worlds, and this is stuff they dont have to deal with thankfully. Just imagine, time and time again, losing base after base, inventory after inventory, of your things, to meshers and cheaters. This banning shit is small part of it and really seems to only have been from dealing with tea. Its just crazy that one side of the community can be so happy and see the game as so great, while the other side is just left to be abused by hackers and exploiters with almost no repercussion, which in turn has caused so many players to turn into cheaters themselves just to compete. And players rarely get banned sadly. So many of us just quit.
Fun story:
I experienced something extremely similar but on an unofficial server (several servers but this story pertains to one specifically)
The owner and her admins would fly around the map using in game cheats and “grief” players bases with smoke and toxic grenades, effectively pissing off lots of players. When my friend and I managed to grab one of them with our quetz, the owner threatened a dino and base wipe in game chat if they weren’t immediately released. Additionally, someone ran inside my friends base without him realizing, and after closing his gates, they claimed to be trapped and threatened to use the creative mode red gun to demo the entire base instead of just ghosting outside.
To make matters even WORSE, they were manipulating children into paying real money for skins already in the game. I’ve seen numbers up to $100 for bionic skins in that servers discord.
In short, give immature, toxic, and narcissistic people control over a world that can negatively affect other real people, all you need left to do is watch shit hit the fan.

What's even worse is no one that is actually competent has made anything even like it.
There are other survival that are excellent, but ark has so much that no other game has. Sad really, that formula is a huge winning formula and no one is using it.(not that exact formula per se, but just what you can do and the world's etc etc)
Lightning in a bottle. It was all over once the megatribes took over. You used to be able to play on pvp and not get raided within the first 24 hours. What they’re doing to the franchise now is just icing on the cake.

What saddens me as a pve player is the community ive formed on my map SE900 is my home and im the local news station keeping up to date on weather and rare tames spawning
Lets be honest, it wasn't just a fun game, its the only game of its class. Its the only dinosaur game where you can breed and ride your own dinosaurs into battle, its the only creature focused survival game. Its loss is less a tragedy and more the death of an incredible idea, a million dollar idea at that

I thought "play by my rules or I'm taking the ball away" is already petty and childish, but it's got nothing on "If I don't win you never get to play again."
I remember when the developers took over the torch from The Stomping Land and released the first early access of ARK, a time when the developers were talking in real time with the players to grab feedback, restarting the servers several times an hour to apply hot fixes and updates. Oh how they have fallen. Today's state of the gaming industry is utterly shameful.
This is insane. Another developer to add to the blacklist. Unfathomable that this is so known yet people will still be preordering their next game.
I don´t think is widely known. I think it's very well known in some circles - but not by the public at large. So, who knows it goes away - but the new players keep buying, without knowing all this.
What would be great is to all these problems to get out on the mainstream. THAT would be something to behold. :D

It’s not the developer, it’s the game’s publisher snail games, The devs can’t do anything about it. Wildcard made this game; Snail Games corrupted it (edit: Also if you watch Hod’s videos you can literally see snail games blackmailing one of the devs)

I remember first playing ark, and I didnt realise what I was getting into, but to see this game fall so far from grace because of a greedy, selfish company is nothing short of a disappointment. I'm glad I won't have to worry about it anymore after August, and can use the space for something that's actually worth it.
This happened to us when we fought them years ago. That was when i stopped playing. We were removing them from a fresh server and every time we got ahead the server would reset, but only when they lost something, caught on real fast to what was going on.
These statements are point! This has been abused since the beginning. Among other ways players have been able to cheat. For me it was the meshing. Spend 1000’s of hours making an impenetrable base just for someone to climb under it and dodge every bullet loaded and ready. I will not be buying anymore ark content until I see reviews worthy of my money.
@Evil Squirell game had so much potential, the chinease fleet was on full retreat and coming through my server 272, our server decided to help crush the fleet and we had em surrounded, right as were about to engage from 3 sides the server coincidently crashes

Buzz, if you find this disturbing, you should look into the crazy amount of real life money transfer and trades that go on with Ark for in game dinos, items, duped equipment, targeting servers for pvp or to be hacked/dosed, the list goes on.

Duping is absolutely the dominant meta on official 1x servers and there are RMT shops abundant where people can buy slot caps of more or less anything up to and including duped dinos, and even entire dedis of resources and structures. Most tribes "farm" via purchase of structures (notably tek dino gates, elevator tracks, and war drums), and then they are demolished en masse for crafting resources. Wildcard has done minor things to combat this, and a lot of tek tier items in game have unique IDs (tek suits, tek bubble). Any time something with the same ID is on the same server, one of them will be deleted. Overall Wildcard's measures to combat duping are more of an inconvenience than an actual deterrent. Disclaimer: I do not partake in RMT nor does anyone in my tribe actually dupe, but I have benefitted from the purchase of duped items by fellow tribe members. This is not something I personally support but it is, quite literally, unavoidable due to the widespread prevalence of this issue.

Saying "duping doesnt exist anymore" is extremely ignorant of how online games and their communities work. would you like to count how many duping exploits have been fixed over the lifespan of minecraft for example, yet there are still plenty of videos where people nuke servers on the current version using item duplication?

The sad thing is, there's no way Valve staff aren't aware of this situation by now. Particularly due to the mass amounts of Steam moderator actions on the CC threads over the past several weeks. At this point, I consider them complicit. No doubt trying to appease to Snail/WC so Ark 2 doesn't end up being an Epic exclusive.
Snail and Wc have been caught doing real world trades for money for dinos, gear and even base locations such as mesh zones and rat holes! Of course steam doesnt stop them this is a chinese company, they pull a few thousand people from steam and it hurts the bottom line. Writings on the walls we have to troll this company until they quit or sue them.

Let alone any of the other games that are on the top games list. Besides, wildcard is getting a lot of flack right now, and ark 2 might end up being a flop, same with ASA.
This is truely the start of the end for Ark. I believe I can say this with confidence that the community of Ark Survival Evolved have had enough of this abuse that Wildcard and Snailgames have given us.
It won't kill ARK and ASA and ARK 2 probably will sell well, but I agree the events on these last few months are a permanent stain on ARK's reputation that's not going away

Listening to the tactics you described, how Snail responds to criticism, the utter corruption, I thought "This sounds like how things are done in China". So I looked the company up, and yup, it's a Chinese company. Gamers need to jump ship (which I say as a former ARK player with thousands of hours under my belt a few years back), that culture of corruption is the norm in China, they wont change for western gamers. Coders should also go through the game and check if it's all it says it is - Chinese made programs are infamous for their data harvesting (including clipboard and keystrokes), spying, and accessing things they should not.
There really needs to be an active oversight team to look over the forums. It's terrible we have to use outside resources to hold the forums accountable.
At this point it's absolutely clear fair oversight is impossible. If you own a game and run it and you cant behave like a decent human being there's no way you're going to agree to someone else doing this for you.
Stop playing . Stop paying . Only way to hit these types where it hurts.

Snail owns Wildcard they are not a publisher they are the owners. They would all have to quit and wait out their non-compete clause to make a new game like Ark

I walked away from the game after extinction, only coming back recently to try to make a D&D campaign set in its universe. The sheer shit show that has brewed in that time is astonishing. And every few weeks it somehow finds a way to get worse. What a fall from grace
Can confirm companies or steam itself is paid to mass post positive reviews. There are also PR bots or people paid to always post positive responses in forums. I have noticed this trend ever since Metro Exodus and Epic games in 2019. Who knows how long it has been happening. But I have watched copy/paste replies in forums for any negative feedback in multiple games since 2019. And I have watched games like Star Base have massive negative review numbers come in. Only for there to be a counter flood of positive empty reviews. Or I have seen for example, where 10 negative reviews come in dropping the overall score. But 2 positive reviews come in massively boosting the overall game score itself.
It is becoming easier for me to point them out as time goes on. These fake accounts have a handful of talking points they apply to every conversation. Or they will recycle their own previous statements as if the conversation never progressed. If you manage to get a real person paid to speak positively. Eventually they will get upset by losing their stance and attempt to either derail the thread or upset you. Which is then used as an excuse for moderation to silence you with a perm ban or locking the thread. Even if you broke no actual rules and the other account used demeaning language. You will be the one banned not them. Or they will use that person's posts as an excuse for the thread being off topic or heading no where to warrant a locked thread. These are all very common patterns I have witnessed to silence any negative discussion of a product. Oh and the biggest sign is that the paid account will "always" have a private account showing as little information as possible.
Either way, these games have massive advantages assisting them to keep their product positive. Yet still fail somehow when they disregard their own community. So their product ratings get artificially altered to look more appealing and thus more sales for steam. Instead of losing money for making poor decisions that upset their community. Claiming the backlash is mere review bombing. If you want to counter act their paid positive review bots. Upvote every negative review in every language. Its the only way remaining to us that counters their actions in the score.
Lastly after watching the video that was posted three days ago since my comment here. Ark is now back to a mostly positive review score. Hard to believe anyone was ever upset right? Maybe we should question how many other games have had such PR treatment...
For a company that want you to rebuy their game and put in an ungodly amount of hours to get everything back they doing a lot to lose loyal fans
The Island boys should file a class action lawsuit against SAIL GAMES and sue them for wrongful misuse of in game cheats and wrongful banning of long time players who have followed the rules and conduct actions of the official server games.
I ran into some island boys a while back and they were using aimbot to instantly kill me every time I went into render so I’m kinda glad they all got banned… too bad the rest of the cheaters wouldn’t get banned too… I say keep it up snail… get em all

I remember playing ark on official servers years ago now. Even then it was hard to find a legit fight due to all the duplication glitches, and ddossing. Imagine going against the people that RUN THE GAME, thinking “hey this should be a fun and fair fight” and then all this happens. It takes actual weeks and months to become Megas on official servers 🤬
I always liked Ark. it was a great way to just chill out and relax. Now I feel the whole thing is a bit tainted thanks to the developers and the publishers… the game has always been plagued by bugs, delays and broken promises.
Their community goodwill has been drying up for some time, but this year has been disastorous. Player outrage & backlash has happened before, but its now on a large enough scale that anyone who plays ARK or at least is adjacent to its community can't ignore it.

I was there....;o; thank you for making this. I had been fighting Tea while in GT7 for so long. I encouraged the island boys to fob, that if we followed their 'set of rules' that we would be fine. Foolish me for not considering the 255 ping 100 players can create by rendering a base in and out....

Funny thing is, if I am looking into a game, I always look and read through the worst reviews first. The best reviews are never trust worthy.
Be the change. Unite and demand action from Valve. If Valve knows it'll affect their wallet in some way, they'll act and hold Snail responsible for abusing the gaming community. You have to make sure you all let Valve know you'll stop buying any games at all from there if they don't act. Flex with your wallet.

This is surreal! I don’t quite know the history of ark, but I played it for a good number of years and I absolutely love it, so I was obviously looking forward to our two. But ever since arc two came into the picture so much shady shit has been happening. I don’t know that I ever want to buy their products again, I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on wild card, I don’t even know who to blame. Whoever is at fault is destroying wild cards reputation rather quickly
Don't feel bad to exercising your right to vote with your wallet. Honestly the best thing for WC is to jump ship and find better projects. It's my understanding that Snail Games owns WC, and even though WC gets a ton of flak they're not the ones at fault and are as much hostage as the playerbase, sadly.

I have over 1000 hours in this game. I left years ago, I could see the writing on the wall when the server I was on "glitched" and I lost two years of dinos.
This is why I refuse to pay for any other games the dirty devs make or the greedy publisher publishes!! They are all rotten to the core and they have ruined the best game I have ever seen for years through their own cheating, hacking or direct and intentional inaction / negligence to police and enforce their own servers resulting in those servers and this game being ruined for years!! This is just one small example of their constant misuse of their power over this game and those in its community and in all honesty is anyone surprised??
Folks need to mass report and talk about these situations, make your voices heard, and on top of all else HIT THEIR POCKET BOOKS!

@LtBuzzLitebeer it isn't just this game. Snail does it in Atlas and also did it in LO for the two seconds it was relevant. Happened to my team in Atlas. Tea = Black Butterfly in that game. Start in strong on them, gg ban 100% of the time. The game is just much smaller than Ark, so less heard of. In our case it was over 120 accounts and the reason blasted on the servers was blah blah blah "banned for suspected cheating". Suspsected. Haha. I quit their products and will never look back. Edit to add: I had posts on their forums and reddit about all this that got removed eventually.
Except, for one thing: Drew, your company did cheat. Your dudes literally showed everyone a number of exploits, like the one for placing farms. Anyone who brought it up, your company would attack as a group and say it was all TEA. Regardless, this is a problem with the design of these games; since it is impossible to be relevant without some sort of dishonest play (as if by design.)
Ive only played single player on this game, to be honest i didnt know the online community was so huge.
I feel bad for the online community but this is why i only play single player.
I’m sure if I was a PVPer and didn’t get my copy of ASE for free I wouldn’t be buying ASA, but as a SP I wouldn’t mind the upgrade

not the first time this has happened, quite some time ago before meshing got fixed and banned, there was admin in some tribes and used admin commands to destroy bases that were well hidden, even meshed to hide tames. and they used their commands to find the bases to raid them and disable all defences.
If you are referring to getting out of bounds and building under the map, that's been against the official rules pretty much forever because it's abusing a glitch. It's been a ban worthy offense since before the game even left early access. Hard to feel bad for groups who knowingly exploit a bug to gain an advantage, there's a word for those types of people... what is it... oh yeah.. cheaters.
I didnt actually know about the TEA tribe specifically but that is very interesting.
This is a different platform and mode but on nintendo switch pve there is a tribe called "Cup Of TEA" and they have gone to many official pve servers and pillar spammed legitimately half of the maps off leaving no where for players to build and causing wild dino spawns to be almost non existent.
A bunch of us made tickets about it an absolutely no ones was answered.
BUT when we decided to do the same thing, a whole lot of us were banned....like console banned, need to purchase a new switch if you want to keep playing ark.

Need to research back farther. Back when Ark was a brand new game years ago, I paid a decent price for early access on Steam. Months later, devs get sued by another studio, then suddenly an "expansion" shows up for this game that was still in early access, for a hefty price, that they dubbed "their truest vision of the game", which early access should have already paid for "the true vision of the game". Die hards defended their actions, and somehow they survived.
They were forcing consumers to cover their legal fees, and any early accessor that didn't pony up the dough were left with a shell/husk of a game for the price they already paid.
As I read about ASA, it sounds like the same exact bait/switch. 😕

One of the first things that i learned in Ark was "Don't Play PvP".
If you go official server you will be smashed by large tribes using unfair methods.
If you go private server you will be smashed by the admin or his friends cheating.
Ark 2 need to rethink how pvp is did entirely.
I had heard from a friend that sometimes Studios can leave their publishers.
Given what has been presented so far... I feel like I owe Wildcard an apology given it seems snail games is the basis of most of Wildcard's problems. I can imagine animals important in PVP got nerfed because someone used them on Tea, delays because Snail wanted to throttle something for one excuse or another... Wildcard does charity events and funds content creators like modders... I don't think something like snail would take modded maps like Rag and give official versions of those to us for free... they'd slap a pricetag on it.
On top of that, I believe if Wildcard switches to an American Publisher, we may see less shady stuff you see in other countries.
I’m not in favor of giving a hall pass to WC - they have knowingly ignored well-publicized bugs for *years*, many of us have lost everything more than once due to their incompetence, and if I remember correctly we still aren’t going to be able to bring even our tames to ASA. Snail is not Wildcards publisher Snail owns Ark/Wildcard They have since 2015. Wildcard is just the name the snail games ark team likes to work under.

I heard about this before the this video called out the high school lvl tantrum to not loose, the head of snail games has been called out before for his bullying of ark players. Sadly wont happen as that is up to the developer as Valve tends to hands off. People attacking valve for Forum Moderator behaviour in regards to the bans from the steam forums forget THOSE are rights given to devs to manage the forums related to their products. That screencap of a moderator saying "and you dont deserve to come back" is a bit vague sadly.

While I agree with most of what you are saying, I would like to make perhaps a minor point about the devs playing a PvP game. I feel the devs not only can, they absolutely *must* play their own game to understand the cycle and see for themselves where it can be improved, a process called 'dogfooding'. However, if you do that, using admin privileges to basically cheat at your own game is the exact opposite of that. If you get hammered, you need to understand how and why you got hammered. Is there an exploit being used, or are they just better at the game than you are? Hell, if they were really thinking with both brain cells, they'd be offering rewards for having beaten the devs, or at least acknowledgements.
It is safe to say that this is a clear case of... bringing shame to the game (both figuratively and literally).
Looks like most of the super successful studios are acting the same. Just look at WOTC and how they tried gouging their community. Goes to show ya that these people are only in it for the money and no longer care about what is fair or fun for their communities. Real sad to see this happen to so many great platforms 😔

This is true, and also not true. Developers are always about the money. But this type of behavior is short term thinking. Sure, you may benefit in the short term, but what happens when your short term profits you drive your players away?

I was playing on April first, normal gaming just doing my breeding as I logged in. Heard the news and alt tabbed to read the patch notes.
After reading the notes I didn't even maximize the game, I killed the window and never logged back in

They could actually file a class action lawsuit. Their access to a product they bought was revoked when they broke no rules. Thats grounds for legal action.
So snail game's team are playing the game and abusing their privelages (or using backdoor access)
So basically Ark now is an Anarchy game (not server, an anarchy game)
This situation seems far worse when the backdoor access happened on 2b2t back then (most well known anarchy server in minecraft), there is also an instance where Haus is active on the server and uses his privileges (but never really abuses is, and he is more passive in playing so it doesn't really affect the server.)
There was also an instance where a dev on a battleroyale, accidentally left his dev mode one causing people not to see him. But that was accidental and he apologized to the players he was playing and left dev mode.
And here we see Ark devs stoop so low. I'm glad I got the game for free yes, but I'm much more glad I never installed or played it.

Over the years, I've seen game companies (figuratively) shoot themselves in the foot, admit the problem and recover, but this is the first time I have seen a company shoot itself in the head- repeatedly. Sadly, at this point there is NO recovery for either snail nor wildcard.

If you really want to defend those guys you're allowed to, but don't be surprised when people question your motives when you defend people who are known to abuse their privileges on other platforms beyond ark official servers. I personally have never played this game, and I personally don't want to, but I'm really glad that I never did, because when this is something that can happen, it really prevents people from wanting to play, and drops any and all interest in any further games that are made, especially when this specific publisher is tied to it.
Also, one thing I just want to mention about Snail Games here, it is absolutely sad that they cannot handle a legitimate and total defeat to the point to where they just go the salty Battlefield admin route and just ban people because they either can, or because they're losing and they "Just want to have fun."

Most pvpers on ark cheat or tribed with cheater, theres some footage of players removin visuals by changing game files. So i dont think its black and white. Ark enforcement has always been corrupt. Favoring tea,streamers and dev tribes. Or some allowed mesh defences others dev wiped for same

This is how games die. I was playing on a well-populated MMO, where most of the NA server was ruled over by a strong alliance, who seemed to be always ahead of other alliances. No matter how much alliances prepared, they could never beat the lead alliance in the territory war. Then, that alliance started to bully their rivals with items they should not have had so many of because they were rare af. People quit over it. Alliances fell. Playerbase dropped because these wars were the reason you would level up and play. But since they bullied others and won all of the wars, nobody felt the need to be competitive anymore. Fast forward a few years and it turns out one of the GMs was giving them items and helping them out.
All members of that alliance were banned but it was too little too late. Competitive players left, nobody bought cash shop items and eventually the game died. They let it happen for way too long. Trust me, they KNEW about it because there were lots of reports about how sus the alliance was and there were requests for inspection but nothing was done.

Now Ark is banning quite a lot of honest players. This will come back biting. Especially if Ark 2 will end up with the same corruption. And it WILL, unless they split from the publisher.

I am very surprised and disappointed to see this kind of behavior from people who are supposed to be leaders in our community. 💔
This hurts like no other, I am a private server player BUT, the fact that someone so heavily connected to a game is openly abusing their status like a rich kid in a candy store is physically painful. I loved ark in every sense, especially with the fantastic survival and Dino gameplay but I honestly think that if the next gen ark stuff goes bad, I can’t be associated with it anymore.
I would guess H.O.D. could pursue a lawsuit on this matter.
TEA AKA Black Butterfly AKA Snail Games also does this in their other game ATLAS. It's the same players you will see in ARK.
By my estimate, over the past 5 years they have unfairly banned over 2000+ accounts for attacking them / just banning people they don't like.
I believe they do this to increase sales metrics because players will have to buy the game if they want to play again.

in all my time playing ark I have not once joined an official or unofficial server I only ever play alone or with people I know. This video perfectly reinforces and encapsulates why I play games like this by myself or with only people I know
This reinforces why I never like playing any games where pvp is a feature. I play on a modded unofficial pve server that rarely has many people on at any given time, but is still consistently active, every map in the cluster, and the server is owned personally by the people running it. It gives no reason for breeding toxic behavior from anyone in the game, it only breeds cooperation and relaxed exploration of the game. It's a very fun game and I play with my friend many times a week when we have time, and it's very pleasant. Sad the official side has gone this way but most official servers for games are full of garbage anyway, especially pvp.
I’ve been an ark player for the better part of a decade, I’ve loved playing with my friends, meeting new people and raiding others in the community. Seeing this and while reviewing what other people have found alongside with what I’ve compiled it’s starting to look as if Ark2 is essentially a “cash grab” and it’s sad to see because the ark community is a hurricane of fun
I had a friend in YSS that told me they bribe devs. And aside from that, certain bugs and exploits are way too specific and long-term to be unintentional. Like no creature in the game can carry artifacts, except Otters, a shoulder-mount that can carry any amount of artifacts, whereas even a player can only carry one. That's a weirdly specific bug. Or gas masks making water transparent. And certain mesh holes on various maps that are coom building locations, some of which have been around for years and are widely know. I suspect some devs will intentionally cause these things or turn a blind eye towards fixing them on behalf of their friends in PvP, particularly the mega-tribes
I’ve been upset with them since they released DLC for an early access game. I never understood how the game didn’t die years ago. People defended the DLC or just simply didn’t make a stand.
In a perfect world this would be a disgruntled employee seeking to harm the company and he/she/it is found, tried and imprisoned. Alas, this is the real world and its just yet another corrupt organization that needs to go away.

If you ask me I think the whole player base that’s not affiliated with development and administration should file a class action lawsuit. There’s no way a Judge would pass on this much fraud and corruption especially when the proof is so solid.
Tbh this was always going to be the case for ark. 50% of the game is admin on a power trip, stuck in a loop of wanting people to join their server, holding them to ransom and back to wanting people to join their server.

You should look into Daybreak Games (a subsidiary of Enad Global 7). Daybreak has taken a "It's MY game and I LET you play if I want to" whenever they're unhappy about anything. I've been banned for multiple things that all come down to my asking why their customer service is so bad. A quick look at their BBB rating in San Diego will tell you a ton. Last I checked, they were 1.47 of 5, but the range is actually 1-5 so, a 1.47 is really a 0.47 out of 4. You could name a restaurant Salmonella-Salad-Bar and get a better rating. Gamer need to have rights that need to be protected.
