The sharp knife technique works better if you stretch the rope between your legs. When you melt the ends, it would be preferable that they do NOT actually catch on fire since charred nylon isn't strong anymore, and the 'weld' can come apart.
You heard of string? paracord? Rope is expensive and used for things that actually require it, rock climbing, search and rescue, fishing/boating... Furthermore, if you're not using the rope for anything serious then just cut it normally and hold a lighter up to the end afterwards, doesn't really matter if nobody is banking their life on it.
Wow that was easy. watched your video and fixed two ropes that looked like crap before in less than 5 minutes total. Thanks.

Thank you.
Thanks, used this method today
Would the same process work if u wanna attach tip to tip? Like heat and attach?
Not with any strength, as the fibres have been cut. It may hold for decorative uses.
Check this beautiful knife out when you get the chance
Can I use nylon ropes for climbing and hiking??plzzz reply
Depends on what sort of climbing your doing and if the ropes static or dynamic. Rock climbing it needs to be dynamic.
@@tomneal8516 Hmmm....Thanks
But I don't from where to purchase good dynamic ropes....Could you suggest???
@@worldofwonders0507 google it
Why not leave the tape on at the end?...
You can, but it will probably get ripped off by your descender if you're setting the rope length
Im actually not using it for anything boat related. I just tied up a banner for my business.
