Rutgers University (RU; /ˈrʌtɡərz/), formally known as Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a public land-grant research university based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Chartered in 1766, Rutgers was originally called Queen's College. It is the eighth-oldest college in the United States, the second-oldest in New Jersey (after Princeton University), and one of the nine U.S. colonial colleges that were chartered before the American Revolution. In 1825, Queen's College was renamed Rutgers College in honor of Colonel Henry Rutgers, whose substantial gift to the school had stabilized its finances during a period of uncertainty. For most of its existence, Rutgers was a private liberal arts college but it has evolved into a coeducational public research university after being designated The State University of New Jersey by the New Jersey Legislature via laws enacted in 1945 and 1956.
Rutgers today has three distinct campuses, located in New Brunswick (including grounds in adjacent Piscataway), Newark, and Camden. The university has additional facilities elsewhere in the state, including oceanographic research facilities at the New Jersey shore.[14] Rutgers is also a land-grant university, a sea-grant university, and the largest university in the state. Instruction is offered by 9,000 faculty members in 175 academic departments to over 45,000 undergraduate students and more than 20,000 graduate and professional students.[6] The university is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, the Association of American Universities and the Universities Research Association. Over the years, Rutgers has been considered a Public Ivy.

These campus views remind me of my happy years in the USA. Yes, I graduated from Rutgers, the State University of New Brunswick in 1991. I enjoyed my studies n my social life that shaped my academic background in Psycholinguistics. My 2 year stay in Rutgers has given me a solid impression of democracy in the USA which colors my way of running the debates in my class sessions in Indonesia, my beloved country. I hope some day I can re-visit my campus n meet my friends in USA.

I live in England and was supposed to spend a year studying abroad at Rutgers. It was all set and ready to go but unfortunately COVID ruined the opportunity. Thank you for sharing, it’s nice to imagine the life I could have had here! But everything happens for a reason and you can’t live life with regrets. One day I’ll visit Rutgers for myself 😊

Rutgers was founded by George III in 1766. It was originally called 'Queens College'.
Glad to see the Sigma Alpha Mu house hasn’t burned down yet. Their previous two houses burned down in fires. Their current house opened around 2007.

Rutgers College Class of 2000. Favorite dorm will always be Mettler Hall. My youngest niece is a freshman there now.
Lived in Franklin Park for some years after I started practicing law, and loved eating my lunch on campus when I worked from home.

Love the view of bus station, college avenue, dining hall, library, stadium, the student center and graduate student center, etc. Bringing my memory back to 1985, the golden fall when I first arrived there. I was 17 and attended in 1989 during the summer period june-august a PALS (Program in American Language Studies) course at Rutgers in New Brunswick. It really was an incredible experience. What really impressed me was the simplicity and rapidity with which I learned english (american, actually). I still have some flash memories, but I do not recognize at lot from the walkaround footage. Maybe things changed a lot... which makes me feel a bit old indeed... :)
