    Great Job, the details you’ve provided are very helpful. AEV should have hired you to show their customers how to properly install their Bison fender flares via TH-cam.
    Thank you

      Thanks. That is kinda what this is for ... minus the hiring :)

    Just knowing how much the AEV bison flares cost from GM I couldn't do it lol I went with BDS 4-inch kit I'm also running the truxxs 1.5 level and the zone 1.25 body lift great video !!!

      There are lots of way to get bigger tires to fit but each comes with a cost. Either more money or a sacrifice to geometry or function.

    hello Sam,BTW I love the work you do for Magnaflow also. I have a 2015 colorado 4x4.Not a z71 just an LT model. Do you think I could do this fender flare trim kit on my truck. Can't find anyone that will tell me yes. Thank you

      It's Rich, and thanks for watching. Unfortunately while I do provide some insight on how I do my own modifications, I rarely have extra time to work on others and I am certainly not a shop.
      If you are uncomfortable with doing the modifications yourself, I do highly recommend going to an AEV authorized dealership where they have trained staff who can properly install any of these modifications.

    This video is brilliantly done. Will be using this video to help with the install as soon as my trim kit comes in from AEV. Thanks for for all the info!

      Thanks, it's an labor intensive install but not difficult. You just have to take your time and see where you are headed to move on with confidence. Happy to help!

    What is your caster angle set at? I just installed the trim kit and 1 inch level on my bison but I have -12 offset rims and I'm still worried it might rub with 33s as it still only has about 1 and a quarter inch of clearance with the stock duratracs on at full lock. great tutorial by the way. excellent stuff you put out.

      Thanks, I try to cover the things i don't see covered already in other content of drive a little deeper into the details.
      As far as Caster set-up it will depend on you upper arm configuration / adjustment if it has it. More caster achieved by driving the lower control arm forward will provide different clearances than caster achieved with upper control arms. I can dive into that some more if you need further explanation.
      I like 6-7 degrees of caster in the Colorado but because our suspension geometry only really works well near stock ride height, it really matters how you achieve it. There are some wonky things with bump steer the more lift you provide in the front.

    How does this work with the stock wheels? Say its leveled on stock wheels with a 285/75R17

      @@scottydoesntknow254 The AEV 33" Tire trim kit works BETTER with the stock wheel offset of 33mm (the same for both ZR2 and Bison.)
      I had a 0 offset wheel which makes the scrub angle worse because the wheel / tire package stick out more. I had to accompany the kit with a High caster alignment to offer a little more room to accommodate the 0 offest

    Do you have to cut the wheel wells on the z71 to fit these or just the fenders?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The AEV 33 Trim kit does require cutting the metal fenders but if you are speaking about the felt like inner fender liners those remain intact minus a little trimming.

    • @codymiller5995

      @@exhaustinglife I have been told that cutting wheel wells makes filing with insurance in the case of an accident difficult, so do you think I can just trim fenders only?

    It looks like you may have leveling springs? I am looking at picking up a ZR2 this week and would like to fit a 34" tire (either 285/75 or a 34"). I am hoping that a combination of leveling springs, add a leaf and the trim kit will allow adequate clearance. Thanks!

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have Eibach leveling springs and yes that should get you adequate clearance with 34s however the closer to 0 offset the more likely you will make contact unless you also do a high caster alignment

    • @zechariahnash8801
      @zechariahnash8801 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@exhaustinglife I appreciate the insight! The plan would be to run AEV Crestones, which have a conservative offset at +25mm. I would expect that only being 8mm different than stock, it should retain the majority of stock clearance, especially when compared to a +0mm or similar

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zechariahnash8801 that should work out well. I have a set of AEV Crestone Dual sports for the 35s after I install the Highmark fender flares. I am awaiting some new skinnier 35s from Milestar that will be closer to 11.50 and not 12.50 in width.

    Question: What size are your wheels? I assume it's a 17
    You said 0 off set but what width?
    After you did this 33" tire clearance kit how does it do at full stuff? any scrubbing?
    I was interested in a 17 x 8.5 Method with bead grip. Do you think I should run a +20 or +0 offset?
    Will the 0 Clear everything at full stuff?
    Thanks

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My wheels shown there are a 17x8.5 0 offset. 20mm is much better than 0 offset for scrub angle and minimizing any trimming.

      Thanks for the reply, I was planning to do the AVE 33" Fit Kit
      Questions:
      ** Do you actually notice any issues or differences on or off road related to the scrub radius increase?
      FYI, when the numbers are run in a scrub radius calculator the OEM to 0 offset is 25mm increase in positive scrub radius.
      ** Have you had any rubbing or contact from the tires to the flares, fenders or anything else with the front and rear tires at full stuff after the AVE 33" fit kit, the 17x8.5 +0 wheels and the 285x70x17's?
      Thanks very much

    Do I need a level kit to fit 33s after trimming?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes unless you have a ZR2 or ZR2 bison. It depends on your tire ... each brand sizes are different but also width and wheel offset are part of the consideration
