    Co workers have Marco hyper step...I can't come off of 500$ so I googled them and these pulled up. Amazon reviews were great. They look great on this video. I install truck accessories,hitches ect.. so these would get used daily or atleast a few times a week. $160 is Alot better than 500...tool trucks only warrenty 1/4 and above anyways. Def about to order these.

      And as you probably know matco doesn’t manufacture anything they just resell and add lifetime warranty. Someone like Norsemen would mfg these for them. Not positive who does, but they look identical so I’m guessing it’s Norsemen.

    Can you re sharpen them? I'll stick with a good strong old fashioned split point bit that you can easily sharpen with your grinder out in the field.

    Just picked up a set of these after price dropped below $160 on amazon! Looks identical to Matcos "hyper step" bits.

      Awesome!! Yes, I think Norsemen makes those but not sure.

    2:35 That 1/2" drill went through that 3/8 steel like a hot knife through butter LOL

    How are you going to sharpen these drills?

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the one trade off I see is not able to sharpen, but you gain incredible time savings. I’ve used these everyday for 7 months with medium speed and cutting oil and they are still sharp as of now. Thank you for watching!

    How are thie bits holding up? Still like them?

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely love these bits! I use the 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 constantly with just a drop of oil and they never seem to dull. They seem to have a sweet spot on my M18 drill speed 2 about 1/2 to 3/4 trigger. I could only ever do speed 1 with regular bits. Huge time saver!

      Appreciate your response. I'll definitely be getting some. Keep up the good work on the videos.

    How do u sharpen these

  • @DaveElectric

    HHS can drill through hardened steel if your drilling tool can run at low enough RPM and be able to supply enough feed force. For example, if you were to try to drill a 3/4" hole in hardened steel you would need 500 lb-force (2200 newtons) of thrust. Your average drill press quill only generates between 70-120 lb-force. It's extremely unlikely your average person has machines that will allow them to do that.

    AT 2:20 IN YOUR VIDEO WHY DON'T YOU USE ALL 3 HOLES IN THE DRILL CHUCK
    IT HOLDS THE DRILLS OR WHAT EVER TIGHTER.
    JUST CURIOUS
    COMING FROM A RETIRED JOURNEYMAN MACHINIST OF 40 YRS.

    • @HuntsWorkshop

      I guess I’ve never tried that. They all turn the same upper ring on the chuck and these bits have the 3 flats so they don’t spin in there. I’m curious to try it though!
