Heartbreaking quote from the real Kevin Von Erich: "I used to have five brothers. Now I can't even call myself a brother."
Yeah, I remember him saying that :(
He says it in the movie too it’s so sad
it was in the movie too... was one of the saddest films ive ever seen
I remember that saying from " Dark Side of the Ring " So sad :(
That's cause Kerry can't count
He is so likeable, seems so akward and down to earth. Love him
Loved him in movie
Awkward?
I wouldn't say awkward, more like uncomfortable and nervous
Not really awkward at all but ok
Just a human being,no reason to make it weird
Hearing him talk like a wrestler is awesome. "They protected us, they made us look good" so hyped for this movie
It's really good bro
MJF was a beast in this movie
@@primeapegaming4277he was only in it for like 5 seconds lol
@@barrymccockiner773 well yeah most people don't know about Lance
@@lancegustafson4190 yeah it was! Lol finally saw it on Wednesday night
The Von Erichs are to Texas as the Harts are to Canada
As the Anoa’i family is to the Pacific Islands
Kevin Hart isn't Canadian
@@innocentrage1haha
@@innocentrage1 He was the dark Hart.
@@innocentrage1 They are talking about the Harts from Calgary. Canadian wrestling royalty
The movie did a decent job portraying the Von Erichs, but after you watch the movie, I would strongly recommend to watch Vice’s “Dark side of the ring” episode on them. It will help to fill some of the plot holes the movie didn’t explore.
The real story is more depressing than the movie
The fact that they just cut out one of the brothers entirley. I forget his name, but I watch dark side of the ring with my dad
They left out a brother
@@sniper8560 ik
The fact Chris was left out is kind of despicable.
I grew up in the 80’s in Dallas and the name Von Erich was ubiquitous. You may not have even known wrestling but you knew the name.
Same
It was the Dallas Cowboys and the Von Ericks. That's how big they were!
Same
The movie omits the 4th brother, because they thought that would enter "overwhelmingly sad" territory. Brutal stuff.
Which is a chicken sht answer.
@@FlixCreEightRI agree. Chris should have been in there.
Sean Durken fought to keep in the 5th brother. The studio wasn’t going to green light it. And to be honest, having just seen it, another death and a half hour longer, would have been brutal. It’s a very sad sad movie. I saw it knowing nothing of the Von Erichs beforehand and I was saying aloud in the theater multiple times, oh my God! It’s great but it is super sad.
well it was just chris who is the youngest one and his story was sad enough on it own it would ended with his death as the last one being shot in the head
@@kenny31000 Yep. “Just Chris.” That’s probably what he thought in real life before he shot himself. I made a few comments already about the irony that he wasn’t “important enough” to make the movie because that’s probably how he felt about himself in real life because he wasn’t able to wrestle.
There’s nothing more difficult than making yourself look like a legit pro wrestler. Good on them for doing such a good job.
Nothing more difficult? You’re positive?
@@hahahaj7117 ever seen someone trying to make themselves look like a pro wrestler when they’re not???
@@Meatball2022 it wouldn’t be that hard as long as you don’t have bad genetics and you run a cycle (which is exactly what this guy did) not saying he didn’t do a great job, he did, and the movie was sick. But I can think of a lot of things that are harder than learning how to do some flashy moves in the ring and generally getting jacked.
@@Meatball2022 examples include being a professional at almost any sport, being in a SOF unit in the military, etc.
@@hahahaj7117 if it were that easy, how come in other wrestling movies they look ridiculous?
Gosh i cried so much especially when Michael died :[ Such a heartbreaking movie filled of tragedy. To think they left out one brothers death because it was too much tragedy is even much more heart wrenching. Kevin is an incredibly strong man.
which death? i havent seen the movie yet
@@dopeonthescale They left out Chris's death. He wasn't even included in the film or brother count. I just looked it up after seeing the movie. I was shocked.
@@sonokoroxsthey sort of combined him and Kerry.
@@yourmothersbox4446 i think it was also cause Kerry and Chris both died of suicide so they said showing 2 suicides would have been too much and repetitive so they just kinda combined the 2
@@alba4132 the changes were made with the most care in the world, it would have been too much death to handle it wouldn't work in the constraints that is a film. its one thing to retell the story but also make a good film out of it too and due to many factors, and the fact chris and mike had such similar they sorta combined the brothers
Love "Tom Sawyer" by Rush! 🍁 I'm glad they got the rights to that song for the film. That song's line about the "Modern Day Warrior" was Kerry Von Erich's nickname in wrestling because he liked the song and it's message. I'm glad Kevin is still around to see this film about his beloved brothers.
Seen this movie yesterday. All these actors did a great job!❤
Why didn't they get him to be the new Willy Wonka? He looks exactly like him.
Missed opportunity right?
Hey... maybe because he was making the movie about the wrestler they're taking about?
Bro, i litterally clicked on the video to comment just that
Utterly spot on! Jeremy Allen White would definitely have been an excellent choice for Wonka!
I just saw the movie over the weekend not gonna lie I don’t think he would have fit the character that well. I understand he looks likes the original one but that can only go so far but yet again we will never know lol
This move was so good I cried more than once tbh I recommend anyone and everyone watch it
Shoutout to Chavo Guerrero!
Hell yeah
Not only is the story of the Von Erichs tragic, they were like gods in the wrestling world. Kerry Von Erich was probably only second to Hulk Hogan in popularity back then.
@incinerator1016 "Lie" is a bit harsh. There was a small handful of wrestlers (Savage, Dusty, Hogan Andre, RnR) who were as big back then. I lived in Maryland and never saw a WCCW match until the late 1980s, yet I knew exactly who the Von Erichs were.
You're delusional@incinerator1016
You're forgetting about The Naitcha Boy and The American Dream, baby.
@@one_with_kevrything9825 Dusty was definitely a major draw.
Kerry was super popular especially in TX, but would not say 2nd to Hogan.
this movie was f n incredible. and emotional rollercoaster for sure. every person that played in this movie played their characters perfectly.
Except the guy who played Ric Flair, but otherwise amazing movie
@@ulyssesdoroja2973 Yes, agree. Terrible cast job for Flair.
WHAT MADE THIS FILM INCREDIBLE is yes show the brotherly love they all shared BUT the movie also showed no matter how toxic and horrible parental role they still loved their father they still wanted to make him proud which was so interesting and surprising
Yess!!!
Agreed. The coldness from both mother and father, but when you grow up in that idk toxicity you believe that’s normalcy. I hope something like this wouldn’t happen today. What superstars the Von Erich’s were!
Why is that a good thing? Just normalizes toxic parents. You can show the love while also showing how misguided it was.
@@scz1770you don't understand why because you never do Iived that life
@@mychaeljones7526 oh sorry, I forgot you know everything 🤡
listen to how chavo explains jeremy. he said Jeremy was the best/easiest to train. how incredible. the dude that didnt really care for wrestling and was the best to teach. dudes a talented stud! the bear. a chef, shameless a criminal drunk that was a father figure. dude deserves his accolades
From Lip Gallagher to Chef Carmy.. The acting magic of this guy is phenomenal! J.A.W has gone a very long way and he's definitely one of Hollywood's shining stars right now.
Does anybody else think that Jeremy would have been better suited to play Willy Wonka than Timothy Chalamet purely based on looks?
Jeremy Allen white is a great actor. Love the movie and glad to see you in another movie
Kerry Von Erich was my favorite of all the brothers. It was when he was the Texas Tornado in WWF that I became a huge fan!
I grew up in the 80’s. I loved the Von Erich’s! Can’t wait for the movie!
It was so amazing!! I saw the movie at an early premier, I shed a lot of tears!
@@prisilla7633 It’s such a sad story. Kevin survived it all which is really amazing!
@@WendyDahling3 I can’t imagine someone as strong as him 😢😢
It was great
The movie was terrific! Each actor did a great job with what is ultimately one of the most tragic life stories ever. I think they were very respectful to the family and it showed in the film.
The Flair guy didn’t. This guy didn’t. The Harley Race actor didnt either
@@djdarq6311 The guy who played Flair was awful. Horrible casting choice, he didn't anywhere near Flair's charisma.
I thought Jeremy Allen White sucked as Kerry! He should've played the omitted brother Chris Von Erich!
We have the upmost respect for you playing Kerry Von Erich. The only thing I noticed was the powerful performance.... Thank you!
The movie was incredible. The acting was phenomenal. It will take me a while to get over this movie.
Sameeeee I’m watching every doc on them

Zac Efron's finest work
Love the movie, hated the storyline. …But I think that was the plan. Shakespearean tragedy.
Dude. JAW’s styling is en pointe. Holy wow, a nice homage to The Bear’s theme of restaurant camaraderie; coming out in what looks like kitchen staff black&whites, but the close-up provides a bit of interest. And his hair, as always, is a blessing to both him and us. Bravo.
Yes, Im obsessed with the shirt material. It has to be some sort of silk blend or macerated cotton

Chavo shoutout makes me happy
I love that Chavo Guerrero is now like the coach for all wrestling movies/shows
As a Wrestling fan for over 40 yrs, this guy does not resemble kerry von erich at all............
Give everyone an Emmy for the Bear.
they read ur comment and followed through 😆
They did win them for season 1
I loved the movie. Was very emotional towards the end. All of these men did a great job but that quote from Kevin just broke my heart. I just wanna give the man a big hug. 🤍
I was a kid living in Dallas when the Von Erichs were wrestling. We even went to the Sportatorium to see them wrestle live and in person a few times. At the time, it was just what we did. I had no idea how special a time and place it was. I'm not even a wrestling fan anymore, but I'm glad I was there during this time.
There was a time in Dallas when they were more popular than the Cowboys.
Found out about this guy after my girlfriend put me onto Shameless and he’s an amazing actor, still need to continue The Bear
I grew up watching the Von Erichs in the mid 80's, they were gods in the World Class Championship Wrestling territory
He has to be our lead for a Marty Jannetty film
What would that be about
The rise and fall of Marty Jannetty? Look up his story it writes itself! He made a man disappear! Lol.
@@Himynameisantone97 a marty movie would probably be Rated r lau😂
@@Himynameisantone97 I don't see the appeal of a movie about just Marty Jannetty. Now Shawn Michaels...there's a story. The rise & fall & rise in both his personal life & wrestling career is something that would give hope to a lot of drug addicts & wrestlers struggling with sobriety. I'm not religious but it can't be denied that Paul Levesque (Triple H); religion & Shawn's wife & son (Cheyenne wasn't born yet, Cameron was 2 when Shawn got sober) saved Shawn's life. As Paul put it, after people were making fun of Shawn for finding God...no one ever OD'd on religion.
Wonderful film and Jeremy was outstanding in his portrayal of Kerry!
Jeremy should play Gene wilder in bio pic
He's too small to play the Tornado. But he is a great actor.
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too small on the other hand Zac looked great
Size isn't that important. If everyone is shorter than their characters it evens out.
The reason why the wrestling community will not attack this film, is bc its not about wrestling. Its about the Von Erich family, theres no trivia here, its not about how WCCW was founded, how Vince called Kerry Von Erich and his go through the indies, they didnt even really touch on just how big Von Erichs really were back then, or their major feud with the Freebirds, it was focusly on each brother and their family dynamic. Its not wrestling movie, its a movie about a tragic family, that so happened to be wrestlers
well said
As someone who grew up with the von Erich’s living 60 miles from Dallas I actually got to see them when I was small and I remember thinking not a move any of the wrestlers had could ever beat the iron claw ice man king parson Ugandan giant gentleman Chris Adam’s the fabulous free birds von Erich’s were the best
Von Erichs is one of the greatest tragedies in wrestling - I wonder if the film will reflect that
That's...... literally the point of the movie
To be clear, Kevin was NOT involved in the film. He was able to contribute in any way that would matter.
I like that he gives credit to Chavo Guerrero for training them
i love him
love that this insane story is finally a mainstream thing now......loved the Texas tornado back in the day...this stuff is why I still talk about the old days of the business and don't care for the stuff that is out now
This dude does have that feeling of the 'it' factor however, he just has a cool aura around him. I hope he gets his personal life in order
This guy is the biggest thing since French Toast
I loved the movie and everyone was great, but I felt like Jeremy Allen White as Kerry was the best performance. I don’t watch The Bear, so he’s new to me, but I’m a big fan.
Dude go wat h the bear. The iron claw was a 1 out of 10 when compared to the bear
Chavo Guerrero, coming off the top rope!
I knew when i watched shameless that Jermy was going to be around for a long time , and he is here to stay
Von Erichs vs Harts at Survivor series. What could have been, Stu and Fritz as the corner men.
Incredible
That would have been a great full circle story, Stu Hart trained Fritz Von Erich in the dungeon.
Kevin says in an interview he wasn't involved at all. He was not happy about that. This movie is pure fiction. Villifies the dad and short changes the entire story.
If they make a movie about Gene Wilder, this is a guy for the role. Look him up if you are not familiar. This guy could be his son.
I'm a huge wrestling fan, the guy who trained you is Chavo Guerrero Jr! Son of Chavo Guerrero and nephew of Eddie Guerrero.
I loved this film. I cried a lot.
such a great film
I can’t forgive the movie for leaving Chris out and making him and Mike one person! Mike was not short. He was 6’2 just skinny! Basically if he was in WWE new generation he probably would’ve played slender man!
My husband and I just watched the film recently. Being a HUGE Von Erich fan back in the day, I was a bit skeptical. I even met Kerry after arranging for him to come visit with Adolescents in the Psych hospital I was working at when he was in town for a wrestling match. Will never forget how Kerry came bounding in larger than life. Make no mistake, he was a big guy.....tall & very muscular. (The photo showed in the clip above did not do him justice.) He was super sweet too. Jeremy Allen White did a nice job portraying Kerry, but to those in the know, he really didn't come close to Kerry's physical size. The film did delivery on their Brotherly love for each other. That was the final take away.
He'd make a great Willy Wonka.
He was great in the movie
What was odd to me is they portrayed Kevin being bigger than Kerry in the movie when in real life it was the opposite
Just like in Goodfellas. Joe Pesci was a short guy that was playing a guy who was over 6ft tall in real life
Off topic - how did they not get this dude to play Willy Wonka ??🤯
Love Lip so much.
Well made film. Everyone involved on and off screen did a fantastic job.
Hold the phone. I never saw the trailer shown on any network tv ONCE and I watch shows across all. BUT its shown during late night talk show?
This dude looks, talks and even acts so much like Gene Wilder.. That's crazy as hell
He should have been Wonka! He says they aren’t related though.
Dude is such a great actor, but that movie has some of the worst casting I've seen in a while. A lot of these characters had really distinctive physicality, and detail is very, very important. At the very least they should've had more time to really nail the characters. Kerry and Ric Flair were among the worst offenders. Again, not Jeremy's fault; he just wasn't a good fit.
Soundtrack sounds amazing after hearing (don’t fear the reaper)
Great movie but Jeremy and Efron should have switched roles imo
Phenomenal, phenomenal movie! The love/emotion displayed by the actors playing the brothers is palpable
I enjoyed the film despite some flaws but the guys did a great job of showing the brothers bond.
Big fan of the Von Erich Family. Can't wait to watch The Iron Claw.
It was great
@@claymathewselevator8121 I'm sure.
I saw Kerry VE wrestle Ric Flair when i was a kid living in hawaii. the VonErich v. Fabulous Freebirds was the main rivalry when i watched.
This guy looks like Paul Reubens
I want see a Peewee Herman movie by him
he may have had to become 2 foot taller buty I bet he didn't become one foot less
Never heard of them which sucked cuz I went down that rabbit hole n whoa they were amazing !
But I watched wrestling with my brothers when wwe was wwf so I was shocked I never heard of them. But so cool they are giving us this movie , it’s so moving so sad but they were great entertainers for sure !!! may they rest in peace 🙏❤
Huh that's funny I thought I've seen chavo Guerrero in the movie I think it was the first or second match
Am I the only ones that winced when he said Chavo Guerrera??
i noticed that as well, but to be fair he does say he knew very little about wrestling until doing this film 😅 and it's very close, just the feminine version of Guerrero
it's crazy how much he looks like Gene Wilder. He should've played him in the new Willie Wonka movie
I just went to see the movie it was great. My dad is not a wrestling fan at all and he really enjoyed the movie as well. I would def recommend it
The movie was great! Everyone should watch it
That film was remarkable 🎉
😢 texas tornado
Movie was AWESOME!!!!!
Chavo Guerrero is the man 🤘🏽🇲🇽
The movie gave me more respect for zac efron and jeremy allen white as actors, they did incredible!! An absolutely phenomonal film!!!
That's Gene Wilder
This guy can play Gene Wilder OR Marty Feldman with some prosthetics.
😂. I feel like if you showed this as a meme to Mel Brooks it would kill Jim, he’d literally die laughing
Him
If this guy doesn’t win an Oscar for playing Kerry, he will for playing a guy named Gene…if you know, you know.
Chavo Guerrero is part of a historically great wrestling family
Knew nothing about the family (Never followed wrestling, was into Karate in my youth though). Never even heard of the movie. Thought it sounded interesting. Went in with no expectations. Left in stunned awe and a couple watery eyes. Me and my date were both stunned by how good this was. Neither of us know much about wrestling, but a quick google to see what was playing, and a very brief skim online made me give this a shot. Glad I did. One of the best films I've seen in a while.
THE IRON CLAW IS 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Between this and GLOW, Chavo is one hell of a teacher
It's so awesome that he trained with Chavo. They were in pretty good hands.
Great movie
"They protect us, they make us look good". That's the definition of beign a pro wrestler. I think these guys made a great job portraying the Von Erichs, and really dig the passion about wrestling. Great movie.
I can’t believe they said “short king” TMG’s impact
