Gosh i cried so much especially when Michael died :[ Such a heartbreaking movie filled of tragedy. To think they left out one brothers death because it was too much tragedy is even much more heart wrenching. Kevin is an incredibly strong man.

@@alba4132 the changes were made with the most care in the world, it would have been too much death to handle it wouldn't work in the constraints that is a film. its one thing to retell the story but also make a good film out of it too and due to many factors, and the fact chris and mike had such similar they sorta combined the brothers
Sean Durken fought to keep in the 5th brother. The studio wasn’t going to green light it. And to be honest, having just seen it, another death and a half hour longer, would have been brutal. It’s a very sad sad movie. I saw it knowing nothing of the Von Erichs beforehand and I was saying aloud in the theater multiple times, oh my God! It’s great but it is super sad.

The movie did a decent job portraying the Von Erichs, but after you watch the movie, I would strongly recommend to watch Vice’s “Dark side of the ring” episode on them. It will help to fill some of the plot holes the movie didn’t explore.

@incinerator1016 "Lie" is a bit harsh. There was a small handful of wrestlers (Savage, Dusty, Hogan Andre, RnR) who were as big back then. I lived in Maryland and never saw a WCCW match until the late 1980s, yet I knew exactly who the Von Erichs were.
The movie was terrific! Each actor did a great job with what is ultimately one of the most tragic life stories ever. I think they were very respectful to the family and it showed in the film.

I was a kid living in Dallas when the Von Erichs were wrestling. We even went to the Sportatorium to see them wrestle live and in person a few times. At the time, it was just what we did. I had no idea how special a time and place it was. I'm not even a wrestling fan anymore, but I'm glad I was there during this time.
Dude. JAW’s styling is en pointe. Holy wow, a nice homage to The Bear’s theme of restaurant camaraderie; coming out in what looks like kitchen staff black&whites, but the close-up provides a bit of interest. And his hair, as always, is a blessing to both him and us. Bravo.

Love "Tom Sawyer" by Rush! 🍁 I'm glad they got the rights to that song for the film. That song's line about the "Modern Day Warrior" was Kerry Von Erich's nickname in wrestling because he liked the song and it's message. I'm glad Kevin is still around to see this film about his beloved brothers.

I'm not religious but it can't be denied that Paul Levesque (Triple H); religion & Shawn's wife & son (Cheyenne wasn't born yet, Cameron was 2 when Shawn got sober) saved Shawn's life. As Paul put it, after people were making fun of Shawn for finding God...no one ever OD'd on religion.
As someone who grew up with the von Erich’s living 60 miles from Dallas I actually got to see them when I was small and I remember thinking not a move any of the wrestlers had could ever beat the iron claw ice man king parson Ugandan giant gentleman Chris Adam’s the fabulous free birds von Erich’s were the best
My husband and I just watched the film recently. Being a HUGE Von Erich fan back in the day, I was a bit skeptical. I even met Kerry after arranging for him to come visit with Adolescents in the Psych hospital I was working at when he was in town for a wrestling match. Will never forget how Kerry came bounding in larger than life. Make no mistake, he was a big guy.....tall & very muscular. (The photo showed in the clip above did not do him justice.) He was super sweet too. Jeremy Allen White did a nice job portraying Kerry, but to those in the know, he really didn't come close to Kerry's physical size. The film did delivery on their Brotherly love for each other. That was the final take away.
Im a life long fan of wrestling, my family is from texas, my dad went to watch the von erichs wrestle when he was a kid, i lost my leg in a similar manor to Kerry, ive always felt a connection to him even before my accident. Jeremy did a absolutely phenomenal job. Always liked him in shameless and the bear and now i love him even more.
Kevin says in an interview he wasn't involved at all. He was not happy about that. This movie is pure fiction. Villifies the dad and short changes the entire story.
I loved the movie. Was very emotional towards the end. All of these men did a great job but that quote from Kevin just broke my heart. I just wanna give the man a big hug. 🤍
Knew nothing about the family (Never followed wrestling, was into Karate in my youth though). Never even heard of the movie. Thought it sounded interesting. Went in with no expectations. Left in stunned awe and a couple watery eyes. Me and my date were both stunned by how good this was. Neither of us know much about wrestling, but a quick google to see what was playing, and a very brief skim online made me give this a shot. Glad I did. One of the best films I've seen in a while.

Its about the Von Erich family, theres no trivia here, its not about how WCCW was founded, how Vince called Kerry Von Erich and his go through the indies, they didnt even really touch on just how big Von Erichs really were back then, or their major feud with the Freebirds, it was focusly on each brother and their family dynamic. Its not wrestling movie, its a movie about a tragic family, that so happened to be wrestlers

Its already been said by another on this page about how Kevin Von Erich said he can't even call himself a brother anymore. I've always felt that Kevin Von Erich was every wrestling fan's older brother. Its certainly not the same as having actual brothers and I'm in no way suggesting as such, but Kevin Von Erich is just family to every wrestling fan out there.

Its already been said by another on this page about how Kevin Von Erich said he can't even call himself a brother anymore. I've always felt that Kevin Von Erich was every wrestling fan's older brother. Its certainly not the same as having actual brothers and I'm in no way suggesting as such, but Kevin Von Erich is just family to every wrestling fan out there.
