I even met Kerry after arranging for him to come visit with Adolescents in the Psych hospital I was working at when he was in town for a wrestling match. Will never forget how Kerry came bounding in larger than life. Make no mistake, he was a big guy.....tall & very muscular. (The photo showed in the clip above did not do him justice.) He was super sweet too. Jeremy Allen White did a nice job portraying Kerry, but to those in the know, he really didn't come close to Kerry's physical size. The film did delivery on their Brotherly love for each other. That was the final take away.

Im a life long fan of wrestling, my family is from texas, my dad went to watch the von erichs wrestle when he was a kid, i lost my leg in a similar manor to Kerry, ive always felt a connection to him even before my accident. Jeremy did a absolutely phenomenal job. Always liked him in shameless and the bear and now i love him even more.

Kevin says in an interview he wasn't involved at all. He was not happy about that. This movie is pure fiction. Villifies the dad and short changes the entire story.

Knew nothing about the family (Never followed wrestling, was into Karate in my youth though). Never even heard of the movie. Thought it sounded interesting. Went in with no expectations. Left in stunned awe and a couple watery eyes. Me and my date were both stunned by how good this was. Neither of us know much about wrestling, but a quick google to see what was playing, and a very brief skim online made me give this a shot. Glad I did. One of the best films I've seen in a while.

The reason why the wrestling community will not attack this film, is bc its not about wrestling. Its about the Von Erich family, theres no trivia here, its not about how WCCW was founded, how Vince called Kerry Von Erich and his go through the indies, they didnt even really touch on just how big Von Erichs really were back then, or their major feud with the Freebirds, it was focusly on each brother and their family dynamic. Its not wrestling movie, its a movie about a tragic family, that so happened to be wrestlers

Its already been said by another on this page about how Kevin Von Erich said he can't even call himself a brother anymore. I've always felt that Kevin Von Erich was every wrestling fan's older brother. Its certainly not the same as having actual brothers and I'm in no way suggesting as such, but Kevin Von Erich is just family to every wrestling fan out there.
