Praise YAH! No disrespect and with honor I must say this is the first time I have ever heard a Gentile interpret this story correctly. In most instances, gentiles interpret this story in order to justify slavery and paint Ham and his son Canaan as degenerate homosexuals, when in actuality this story was about rebellion to Hierarchy and attempts to overthrow order and structure of the family (tent or house). It had absolutely nothing to do with sex or anything sexual, yet this nonsense is still pervasive in Christian circles today to justify the way Black folks are treated. Thank you for this truth. You have gained a new subscriber!
Regardless of what the offense was, Noah did Curse Canaan so the Curse is there regardless. This would not justify african/black slavery since Canaan was in the middle east, Israel. Africans come from Ham's other sons who did not receive this curse since it was directed to Canaan and not to Ham and all his offspring. Violating another man by violating his wife was rebellion to Hierarchy as exemplified in 2 Samuel 16:20-22 also in the case of Rueben.
@@dashboy007 certainly not now but following the flood that is the land given by the God of the bible to Ham(and his descendants), beyond (west of) the Nile I suppose. I appreciate the thorough explanation and ideas to ponder. I still believe he slept with his mother(I refused to believe this for years). I did a lesson where I looked at the Typology if interested called Noah’s Nakedness Revealed. The Garment covered the Bride. Noah is symbolic of Jesus while his wife is the Bride that needs a covering. I’ll always keep an open mind and all sides have to speculate but it isn’t a salvation issue. We all like a good mystery. God Bless
Love this! I think your conclusions make the most sense logically, especially how you summed it up with the nations. I can’t see where it states or why anybody would assume there was an offense against Noah’s wife.
Ham Stole the coat of many colors that was given to Adam by God passed down to Noah if had special powers then in Genesis 25:29 Essau killed Nimrod who had this supernatural coat passed down to him (how he gained all his power) Esau took the coat from Nimrod and sold it to Jacob for soup. Sold his birthright. Then Jacob gave it to Joseph who then had dreams of the future. Much about it in the book of Jubilee
Capital Punishment also extends to rebellious children, those who break the Sabbath, those who commit adultery, rapists are condemned to death. The covering was the robe of authority. Shem committed raped with his mom and took the robe; the symbolic robe of authority, trying to transfer the authority. Canaan is cursed because he was the product of incest.
Ham did not sleep with his mother. It was just disrespectful to walk into Noah's tent without first getting the parents permission. This is why Ham's two brothers showed respect to walk into the tent walking backwards to cover him. Wouldn't you get drunk after knowing all the people you knew are now dead on top of all of the people of the earth are dead.
One of my speculations on this issue is Ham's mother was most likely not the current wife of Noah when Noah's current wife had the child Canaan, Noah could see that Canaan was not his son but the son of Ham.

My opinion is no , but seeing his fathers nakedness was looked at , as defiled..He covered his father and at the time Noah was drinking alot of the wine from his Vinyard
No. Leviticus states that do not uncover the nakedness of that mother for it is thy fathers nakedness. Ham's sin was having sex with his mother as Noah and she were drunk and naked. This vile act resulted in Ham's fourth son, Canaan, with whom the curse of blackness was renewed from Cains curse,
I'll say this, you're reading a post law of Moses worldview into a pre law worldview event. I do believe the text is stating that Ham did lay with Noah's wife and thus why Caanan was cursed because the offspring was the result of incest. Let me give another example, prior to the law of Moses someone like Abraham, Isaac or Jacob was allowed to eat pork or shrimp because the laws were not given prior to the laws of Moses given by God. While we have moral laws like the 10 commandments, these other laws were not in place and therefore you cannot read it that way. While we still have clean and unclean animals (flood event) no one was made ritually unclean by consuming these foods. It's interesting because you started by saying you cannot read things into the text (eisegesis), but you went on in the 2nd half of the video doing just that.
Agreed. I've never known anyone to apply exegesis exclusively, 100%. However, I've met many who think they do. It's a natural thing that occurs, eisegesis. It's how we were created, with creative minds. We use eisegesis to read between the lines. The Holy Spirit may guide that, given sanctification. The problem is when people use eisegesis as a foundation or as a dominant mode of interpretation. Exegesis has to be the dominant mode of interpretation. Focus and discipline. Sanctification. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie-just as it has taught you, abide in him. John 2:27
This does not explain why Canaan was the son that was cursed. Han had many sons, and why does the scripture call your attention to the fact that Han is the father of Canaan. I just don’t believe this explanation is justified. Having sex with Noah’s wife and producing Canaan from this union seems to make more sense. Or maybe it’s something all together different. But to uncover ones nakedness in scripture almost always refers to having sex with that persons wife or concubines.
I disagree. First, the sin was Ham lying with his fathers wife. Second. the brothers new of the sin and covered the sin from their father. Third, why was the sin not put onto Ham but his son Canaan? Because God told Noah and the sons to replenish the earth and Noah willfully disobeyed God's commandment. Ham seeing his father disobedience fathered Canaan on his fathers behalf. So, Noah couldn't justly curse Ham but instead cursed the product of the sin or interaction. Lastly, notice the last part of the curse upon Canaan, Noah said that Shem will receive the blessing and Canaan will loose his inheritance. Later, Abraham [son of Shem] would take all that Canaan had.
Thank you for the reply. Its fun to have these discussions. I am not trying to be rude by any means, but the second and third sentence you wrote are not implied in the text. There would have to be a rather large assumption brought to the text to think that the brothers didn't literally cover Noah in the robe that Ham took.
I agree that Ham fathered Canaan through noah's wife. Uncovering his "Nakedness" is a hebrew idiom as mentioned in the video from leviticus. I disagree with your reasoning however. Noah was already fruitful and had multiplied (these three sons when he was approx. 500 years old and likely unmentioned numbers in the prior 500 years in which he was found to be righteous, to be fruitful and multiply had already been commanded before the flood, the others would have died in the flood or before). This is the only rational reason to curse Canaan and not Ham himself. As for the brothers covering their father's Nakedness (again a Hebrew idiom), it was not Noah they covered up it was his wife as the idiom implies. That they did not look upon her and so disgrace their father. Shalom!
@@unlimitedhappy After the flood, God said:" Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. " Noah was included in this command to Replenish. God would give Noah and his wife the strength to have more children. However, Noah did not do as God had commanded. Ham saw this and informed his brothers of what he was going to do. The brothers may not have agreed but did cover the sin from Noah. Once Noah realized what had taken place and Ham and his brothers confessed their intentions, Noah could not curse Ham because his intent was to fulfill God's commandment-Noah cursed the child to remove his inheritance.
I have to disagree with the presenter here. The Hebrew word used for "drunk" does not mean "to enjoy ones fill of wine". Strong's concordance defines the word "šāḵar" to mean: 1) "to be or become drunk or drunken, be intoxicated. 2) to become drunken. 3) to make drunken, cause to be drunk.4) to cause to be drunk. 5) to make oneself drunk. Noah got drunk. It was a sin.
