    Iyanla I just figured out why my marriage didn't work. I tried to turn a seasonal person into a lifetime person. He wasn't ready to be a husband or a father. I was ready, but he wasn't because of this my children and I suffered. It's time to forgive myself and close tbis chapter in my life book. Wow!

    You answered my question before I asked 🙂 I wanted to know how you trust the new season that comes in. The answer is "Remember the joy" from the last one & just enjoy the new one. Don't get invested to the point of "I'll die if this ends". 'Cause the truth is, you won't die. Thank you, Iyanla! 😘

    Iyanla! this episode was perfect for me! I had a seasonal relationship with a man for 4 months. Just as you said- it started fast and ended abruptly too. The relationship came to help me heal and show me I could open my heart and be loved. I knew a chapter was over and that I had to let go and look forward to the next chapter. Still it was very hard to believe that we could love so much and then just stop. Your episode really helped me. Thank you!

    I was in a seasonal relationship he kept begging me to stay, because i was so attached i would stay on. But deep down i was suffering but i realized early this year that he came into my life to show me things about myself that i need to change, aspects of my life that i need to improve upon. I'm grateful for this 4yr relationship, it wasnt a waste of time after all. I release myself from every attachment

    Thank God my last one was only lasted 3 years, the one before 18 yrs. before 7yrs, on and on. The last was cumulative of all those years & prior. In the end I learned it wasn't them, it was me not willing to look at my own deficits. This year I'm spending taking a hard look at me. Of all the past abuse, I now see I was the volunteer.

    one of my closest friends i made at work seems to be a seasonal friend despite me wanting it to be a lifetime. He came into my life when i was feeling so lonely...up until that point, i hadnt made any friends in about 8 years. I was alone, with no one to hang out with or talk to or even play a video game with. Whats funny is, we work together but in separate departments...i knew of him but never gave him a thought until one day, when he came back from a trip back from his homeland of taiwan, we started talking. since then we became good friends and finally i felt friendship again! now he is moving away...i feel at such a loss but he helped me realize things about myself, about my anxiety, that i chose to ignore. I am so thankful for all the times we hung out, for his generosity, for teaching me to be more generous, for talking with me and listening to my problems. It wasnt easy, my anxiety got the better of me a couple times that led to arguments because of my self-doubting but he heard me out. I wish we could still be friends...i will miss him dearly. what point is there in seasonal relationships when the season ends and you end up feeling the same way as before that person came into your life? sigh...been crying on and off today....he's not even gone and i already feel lonely again.

    Since discipline is a rare trait these days, most go into a status of denial, even lying during the course of a seasonal relationship. It is so sad that most cannot simply enjoy a seasonal relationship without feverishly attempting to solidify that which will not coagulate.

As a former WWW student, I have always respected how you get down to the point and are so real and your message today (as it has been in the past) is right on target for me. Thank you once again for opening up my eyes and reminding me to "let go" which is the most difficult lesson for one suffering from abandonment issues. Hanging on to a seasonal relationship serves no purpose whatsoever. I will "let go" and I will survive!!! Cheers!!!

That piece touched me so deeply, I think I will finally be able to let go of the deep grief I've been feeling over my husband's departure to another woman. Even though it was a 17 year marriage and I loved him deeply, it was obviously a seasonal relationship for him. Now I see it in a different light. Thank you so much!! You are awesome!! xoxo

    I know i'm in a seasonal relationship right now and trying to leave it. But the person just doesn't want to let it go! Trying to guilt me and saying my reasons are stupid and selfish. But i know there not, it's what I really feel. I want a long term relationship and I know he's not the one. But the crazy part is he lives with me. I want him to leave, but I need to get the strength and courage to do what I have to do first. It won't be easy at all but I'm going to do it. It's so funny how God works because he lead me right to these videos.

    • @fayetaylor1998
      @fayetaylor1998 8 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Updating my situation regarding the "seasonal relationship" I was in. Well he's finally gone. And boy was that hard! But like Iyanla said I left while things were "still good". But beginning to go down hill so I got out just in time.
      Whew!
      I've learned more about myself with this experience. I'm learning what I want and what I don't want in a relationship. One of the biggest things is learning to "value my time" more. If I know something isn't working or isn't going to work. I'm not pushing thing anymore or trying to fit a square into a circle. Life is just too short to be unhappy. I'm learning to put "me first", and treat myself how I've always treated everyone else. And there is nothing wrong with that. #WhenyouKnowBetterDoBetter

    I went through what that man described in his letter. After over 2 yrs the 2nd love of my life left me with no explanation. Unfortunately he was cheating and I discovered he was a narcissist. It has taken me over a 1.5 yrs to accept and completely let it all go. It was excruciatingly painful though. Ms. Iyanla speaks to my heart.
