    All this useless internet searching saying "oh no, computer fans aren't strong enough" and "oh you can't make your own ventilation" and shit, and here you do it in a couple minutes and looks good enough to me! Thank you so much!

    Your sponge and Velcro seal has literally turned my world on ducting almost upside down. Thank you! I will probably be using this setup once I get my station set up. *thumbs up*

    How do we solder the power wires of the two fans in parallel if we don't have the fume extractor with which to safely solder?! :(

      While you do it just make sure that you bend down and sniff the fumes before they dissipate

    I admire the ingenuity. While drafting up a plan for a fume extractor, I was very close to overcomplicating the design. Checked to see what others did and came across your vid. Thanks for keeping it so simple and for sharing.

I also follow DIY Trying but they only show the stuff before, and after it's done, but they don't actually explain all the steps to build things, but you do and do it very very well! Cheers from your fan from Norway! :). Really looking forward for the next one! :)

    i did this but replaced the cardboard box for a large plastic food container as it has a rubber sealed lid. this is good as it meant i could have 2 lids, one with the ducting and the other with a carbon filter.

  • @Sony_08

    Currently in the process of making one of these on a slightly smaller scale. Im using 3 small fans instead of two bigguns' and I am replacing the LED strips with a modified USB light that has a flexible stand, so that it can be positioned where its needed.
    Thanks for the awesome idea DIY Perks!

    Another great idea! I have a vent for a generator in my garage door the previous resident used. I could use your vent idea with an extension hose run from my workbench; The fans would push it right outside. Had been just using a small USB fan directly on the the work, but would much rather draw it away and out.

    This looks useful for airbrush fumes as well. Hopefully some sort of filter in front of the fans to catch the particulate wouldn't damper the airflow to the point where it loses too much suction.

    Why not invert the flow and have the hose as the intake, that way you can more easily position the hose near where you are working, and the fumes will be drawn along the hose to the box?
    This is how many professional soldering fume extractors work. Along with the filter.
    However, I must say the pack away design is VERY clever.

    • @krypton1142
      @krypton1142 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      because if the fans are at the back it is harder to suck in all the air because the air has to travel through the entire pipe

  • @bruceyoung1343
    @bruceyoung1343 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question. Do you have any data as to how many mm/inches from fans your extractor still “sucks” bad fumes at 100%, 90% , 80%? I had made a extractor and used a 120mm fan and in order to get 100% , I had to be within 6” of the fans
