Very true. One day an "influencer" will tell you that you NEED something and then next month they tell you to trash it. I like this woman's tips but I would not allow a person with such an overwhelming closet influence me. Every time I see this closet, I get anxiety. What an insane and unnecessary number of items! I also think she wears too much makeup but hey, to each their own. I'm gonna continue to wear my silk polka dot shirts.

Polka dots are often “in” during recession and/or depressions, periods of stress because they are abstract patterns but carry a “happy” vibe. Check out those 1930s movies. Polka dots are ubiquitous in the clothes.
So that should be a fashion staple for the rest of 2020.

There's ripped jeans with a couple of rips tastefully done in the knee or thigh. Love those, I consider them a classic. Then there's cheap, shredded jeans that look like a bear attacked your legs. Those are never a good look.

Never got onboard with cold shoulder tops and overly ripped jeans. Uncomfortable shoes are the worst! And I have a hard time with denim on denim. But I do like striped shirts with cardigans and polka dots.
I'd add crop tops. They never look classy IMO, regardless of an individual's age or size.

Dearest shea, I've said this before but I'll say it again. More than 2 years ago I lost everything to my moldy rental house. I had more than 1000 articles of clothing, shoes, accessories makeup blah blah blah and the rising damp ruined everything I owned and had to be decluttered, meaning I had to start again from scratch when I moved into a brand new rented apartment. I had pneumonia over and over again so I started from scratch rewatching all your videos. Finally 2 years later I have the basics and started working on building a cool wardrobe based on suggestions from you. I had to repurchase everything and only a few things I bought second hand as it was just way too expensive getting an entire new wardrobe as you can imagine. Yes I bought the tall boots. Did I wear them or is it the spot for my cat to sleep? 🤣 well my cat loves my boots so I won't be declutting them any time soon. 🤪 did I buy the denim on denim? Yes but I've never actually worn denim on denim.🤣 did I just buy levis wedgie fit jeans and have buyers regret that I didn't get the smaller size? Yep and guess what? Last week I went to exchange them and the shop is totally empty and closed. 😪 I waited years to be able to afford a new pair of stylish jeans recommend by my favorite queen shea, only to be stuck with one size too big. Now you love mom jeans? 🤣🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️ anyway I hope my story brings some laughs. We could all use that right now. Love you girly mmmwah 💋🤗🤪🤣

FINALLY, someone says "goodbye" to the cold shoulder. I absolutely refused to buy any. Got your point with the ripped/distressed jeans. I have one pair and yes they are still fun on occasion, but I agree that extreme distressed and rips everywhere is out.

I refused to watch your clips for the longest time because I thought "yeah another pretty superskinny hip influencer I can not relate to" but at some point I have started watching and now I am hooked. I think you are really funny, clever and I am amazed how many videos you produce
I had to fast forward through parts of the video cause I just wanted to get to the point. The hyperness is cringey to me but I get that the point of you being chatty is to be engaging.
At the beginning of each year I go through my closet & try EVERYTHING on. Then I place only the items that fit back in my closet but place the hanger backwards. At the end of the year, if I didn't wear it, it's either sold or donated.

My thick thighs is exactly why I don't like ripped jeans. Lol. I always feel like my thighs bulge through the rips. And it's not just the fat on my thighs but the skin when my muscles are flexed. Like play doh. Haha. I wish I could make my thighs look good in them tho

@@CKatze-tx9wf if you’ve got baggy jeans on and have rips, it can give the illusion your legs are thinner because of the mere fact your leg fat isn’t bulging through

I actually really like denim on denim, I have a jacket and jeans that have the same colour. And my jacket has a lot of patches and pins on it, that makes it even more fun for me.
I like dark washed jeans with a light denim shirt and any denim jacket - It is a classic and a wardrobe staple - Denim was designed to be serviceable and now it has become stylish and people are assigning rules - If it looks good to you, wear it - And, by the way, she should ditch that ugly top.

I can NOT stand “mom” jeans. They are so unflattering no matter how skinny you are. I do agree with the jean on jean thing, that is an awful look.

This is a helpful trick to sort out your closet for what you never wear: Turn all your hangers the opposite of how you usually hang your clothes. Then when you wear an item and hang it back up hang it the regular way you used to hang it up. (Hang, hang, Hang, sorry for the repetitiveness : )
After a year or six months, check to see how many hangers are "opposite" maybe those are clothes you can give away and declutter your closet. Love your videos, Shea!

I agree with Navneet and KZ. Denim or chambray shirts look great with white or khaki bottoms. So simple, so you can really jazz it with accessories and cute sandals for a fresh summer look. My preference is white.

I like them when the shoulder cut is more straight across, not droopy. I liked them when I was post partum and felt so bad about my body, but I still had nice shoulders!
I've never been a fan of distressed jeans - for me. I have one pair of raw hems and even those are bit iffy. I have abhorred cold shoulder tops, many animal prints, all teddy bear coats, and "mom" jeans - on me. I like them on others - just not for me. I happen to love polka dots if they are more subtle. And will continue to enjoy those. I think it's about what you love, gives you confidence, and feels comfortable. Enjoyable video - appreciate that you continue with your fun content.
Everyone likes and dislikes different things so I don't judge others on what they like and dislike. Everyone has the right enjoy whatever they please. It kinda got me thinking of all the things I used to wear and realizing how my sense of fashion has changed. Great video Shea! Brings me back to memory lane. ☺️

I never liked cold shoulder tops even when they were a trend...I'm so happy that they're going out now. They honestly just never made sense to me. Especially when they were sweaters.
I felt like I was crazy for never really being a huge fan of ripped jeans. I have 1 pair and almost never wear them. It’s not even that I don’t like them, but I feel like they’re hard to wear bc the rips make the outfit look too busy unless I’m wearing a very simple top. 🤷🏻♀️

Whatever, as an influencer, you suggest to an apparently large audience, please: take care of the environment, but also consider the moment that shakes this beautiful world. I trust you know what I'm talking about.
It is quite legitimate to change your mind, as long as it makes sense. When it happens too often, I fear the consequences are too great, though invisible at first glance. That's about the first thing....
Regarding the second (but not less relevant), I believe there is no need to remind you that we are caught up, all together worldwide, at a time when expressing modesty is one of our greatest virtues. Focus is one of the most important factors for us as a global collective to survive, at least mentally, but also physically. I address you most nicely since you are an influential person to focus on things that will relax us and hopefully make us happy, but at the same time make some sense.

I'm not sure why, but I am so relieved to hear you ridding yourself of some of these items. Maybe because so much about you reminds me of myself & I've liked you from the first time I saw you - probably for that exact same reason. 😄
I have always been what you might call a fashion rebel. I have never followed the trends. Ever! I have always worn only what I have wanted to wear.
I know my body, I know what looks good on it, and I know what I'm comfortable in. Why vary from that winning combo?
I have never worn leggings as pants. I have never worn ripped jeans. Or skinny jeans. I've barely ever even worn jeans. The only time I have ever worn sneakers is if they were a required part of my costume in whatever show I was doing. I've never owned or worn any heel higher than three inches. I never wore pointy-toed shoes. When your feet are as big as mine, why wear an additional inch or more that you can't even fit your toes into? I liked the very first cold-shoulder top I saw, which was quite glamorous. But before I even had time to try to find something similar, everyone was mass-producing them, changing the cut & style with each new production. It wasn't pretty. I don't wear age appropriate. I don't wear age inappropriate, either. I wear what I like. And I don't need a designer, a model, peer pressure, or what's trending on Instagram to tell me what that is. The end result? A wardrobe and style that is not cookie cutter, but is uniquely my own. I dress like no one and no one dresses like me. I'm remembered for that, and I'm always complimented.
I began my fashion rebellion in high school, and have continued it on ever since. Along the way, I discovered what I like, what looks best & what is most comfortable.
My tastes are mostly classic and traditional. Always feminine. I prefer dresses to pants. I love vintage - anything from the forties to the seventies, mostly.
While not at all trendy, everything I wear is comfortable, stylish and pretty. And it's just me! I figure that must be okay. I've never been good at trying to be anyone else, but I'm better at being me than anyone else has ever been, so I think I'll just stick with that. 😉😀

You are not out of fashion because you are not wearing trendy clothes. The trends come and go so fast that sometimes it is like you are just throwing your money away. It's probably better to spend your money on quality classic clothes.

We're on the same page. I wrote out a list in March like this.
1. No camo or léopard (animal print)
2. Nothing with embellishments like sequins, buttons, textures, zippers
3. Nothing low rise (very long torso)
4. Cold shoulder tops
5. Painful shoes, granted I haven't worn them for 15 years

I also don’t wear cold shoulder any more nothing yells over 50 like a cold shoulder. However when you’re a size 8 or 10 mom jeans look awful at least on me instantly turn me into a 12-14 ugh NEVER.

A lot of people internalizing this list, if you love how something looks on you keep wearing it. You will look better and more confident wearing something dated that works for your body than something current that isn’t “you”. I still wear so many things mentioned in this video because I’ve curated a closet full of pieces that work for me regardless of trends. Notice how the video is titled “things *I* never wear anymore”. And honestly the last bit of advice is good. Get rid of things you just don’t wear anymore.

Can you do a whole video on how to wear mom jeans casually? I bought the levi wedgie jeans and they just looked frumpy on me unless I wore them with heels which I never do.
For me, I have to wear them with a tighter fitting top, or a cami to balance out the loose mom jean on the bottom. If not, I can definitely see how you would feel frumpy. Same with skinny jeans. Since those are tight I will do a looser shirt in the top. The right outfit is about proportion and balance.
Try a white button up, white simple sneakers, small hoop earrings and maybe add a blazer

I have never liked ripped jeans, denim on denim, polka dots, or cold shoulder tops but people certainly did! I do still love my otk boots though! Lol, I wear my plaid shirt once a year for apple picking :) I've given up on uncomfortable shoes. I've found some new brands that I am loving and sold many of my luxury shoes to replace with them- it's just not worth it anymore!

I wear jeans in the summer because every indoor place I go; grocery store, Target, restaurants, movies are blasting their freezing cold air conditioners. Maybe not this summer due to covid, but normally yes.

I've been making it a point to donate/sell the stuff I no longer wear or use. I used to hold onto things, because of how much I paid or sentimental value, but after the initial "purge", I felt better. It's not nearly as hard to get rid of stuff now.

Love them or hate them, there's no denying ripped and distressed jeans will be in the limelight in 2020. Balance the casual, undone look with a sophisticated high-neck blouse or a polished blazer as seen at Givenchy.
Moral of the story is never go for trendy pieces. Buy quality classic pieces you can wear for years( get your money’s worth and look classy at the same time).
I stopped wearing ripped jeans years ago, I rarely buy trendy pieces and If I do I usually buy something affordable. I only buy leather shoes etc...
