He has said multiple times he is waiting until the offseason. Why the media keeps asking why he hasn't signed is beyond me. Stop making something out of nothing. Petey hasn't spoken so don't speak on his behalf.
Stop worrying about his 'slump'. He hasn't had a regular line mate in weeks.
This 100%. The team has a good management group that will make a move if they think it benefits the team, so if they're telling other teams that Petey isn't available it's obvious they believe he will sign. And they know more about the situation than Friedman or anyone else recycling this rumor. Sitting around and worrying that he might not sign or he might sign for "too much" is useless at best & destructive at worst. Drance was right, the discourse around Petey reflects fans' insecurity more than anything else
@@flights3455 Bravo! I couldn't have said it any better. The media can't accept the team has a shot this year. Their toxic take is self serving as it gives them crap to write about. For years the media scrutiny has been about how bad the team is but since they have a good team this year, they turn their attention to Petey. Why they can't appreciate this year is mindboggling.
I think he has had regular line mates for weeks. Lindholm has been on his line since he was traded. He's played with Mikheyev most of the year. He's played great on the Lotto Line this year. That concerns me. But maybe he turns it around and becomes playoff Petey!
It's because he was offered a massive contract and hasn't taken it yet. That's why. If you were offered that kind of $$$ and term would you have to think about it when we are 1st in the NHL? Just my 2 cents on it.
@@kempnercanucks Pettersson was never offered an official contract. It was reported that he was but it was debunked. Nobody really knows what he is thinking except for himself.
I do have to say that Pettersson's agent could put the whole topic to rest with a simple statement; even if it's that he is waiting until season's end to make a decision.

For starters he not just a top 10 centre, he’s a top 10 player, and better yet a top 3 2-way player and in that one of the smartest-cerebral players in the league. Now it’s easy to pick him apart and focus on his warts, but every player has them, so it would only be fair to point them out too, but many don’t and they just pick on Petey. The thing with Pettersson is his ceiling is higher than most, that’s why you pay him and lock him up long term. Also, he has a playoff record, both with Vaxjo and Vancouver. In both instances he was better than a point a game. IF one were to entertain a trade, how do you replace him. What player? Well, there isn’t another one like him, so good luck with that!

I really appreciate your comments on Petey. But I do not think he’s a top 10 player. Maybe he’s a top 8 C. But he’s hard to replace because of his age and talent. I’ve been trying to think of realistic traits scenarios but it’s difficult.
@@kempnercanucks Yeah Trev your skills don’t go unnoticed. You have God-given gifts my man. Your tech skills are one thing, but your person and in that personality is another. You are a good God-fearing man, and it comes through in spades. Also, I think it’s good we have disagreements on some things. I think it’s healthy. If we all had the same perspective or opinion all the time it would get pretty boring. I find it equally cool that we agree and disagree because we are both coming from a place of passion and common interest. Sometimes I go back and revisit a take and find that yeah I missed something or I didn’t articulate my thought properly. Overall I think you are pretty bang on, and even if I disagree I still think you have valid points and can understand your stance(s). Never have I once thought you were out to lunch. And I appreciate that in you. You are balanced and fair and hold every player accountable…and while you are a fan you are still pragmatic. I respect that maturity. I mean we are both grown adults with a huge hockey history, but sometimes it’s difficult with amateurs and trolls just being negative to be negative. Honestly, and quite frankly I don’t have time for that negative energy. I get you run a pod and more or less have to take the good with the bad. I don’t know how you do it. Perhaps it’s that God-given talent you have..so good on ya 👍
It would be nice if players could be paid at the end of the season based on their performance , imagine the hockey we would see . Petterson seems uninterested in being a Canuck , we need to move him ✅
He does seem uninterested but I’m hoping that’s more of his personality than his competitive nature

Petey and a prospect for Jack Hughes is a no brainer. Petey isn't worth 12 mil..not even close

Not sure how I would feel do we even know where this team is headed after this season. So many guys we need to sign and I don't see how we can resign some of these guys maybe petey sees that

if petey wants to win, you'ld think he would take less, so they can build a stronger team.
They make good money but they don’t make insane $$$ like the NFL & NBA.

I'm sorry Pettersen should be lower. Talentwise he's top 5 but from a consistency stand point he's not even close to top 10. Miller should be in the top 10 though.

Miller types are hard to find for sure. It would be a salary cap situation to get someone like Miller again. Possible if we have the cap space.
