Thank you for demonstrating the pin. I think I will suspend one from a shawl pin, since I often wear shawls. I love this! I am planning a trip to Portugal, as I am exploring Medieval Knitting on the European Continent. I’ve been to Spain a few times and always wanted to visit Portugal. I will definitely make a few knitting shops my priority to looking at the different yarns and purchasing an authentic Portuguese knitting pin!

@@SimplyMaurcrafting I made a search for Portuguese Knitting Pins online and found some Knitting Necklaces. That gave me the idea to use a wooden OM necklace. They have that perfect curve and you don’t have to worry about sticking your clothes. I’m certain there are many other items that can be used. Thank you for the inspiration!

Hello! I love portugesian knitting! I'm badly handicapped and I allways vibrate with my hands and fingers. So knitting is hard work!!!!! but with portugesian style I saw on YT Ifinally could handle it a lot better! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos to learn more than oly right and left mashes but, I hope, all the different types of mashes that are knittable to learn to knit eveything! I knit socks and Pullovers, loops, mittens with and without fingers, but specal mashes I donnot know yet. Thanks for your fantastic video! Be blessed!!!

can you clarify something I have been asking since I learned how to knit 4 months ago. Someone said I have to read the pattern backwards to use this style. Can you explain the best way to read a pattern while using this style.
sharon allen - Hi Sharon. I’ve never heard of such a thing! Portuguese knitting is a style of knitting like Continental, English, etc. if your reading a specific pattern for toe up or cuff down, you just read the pattern as written. Please let me know if you have any more questions, or need further explanation. - Maureen

+Susan Shapiro . Sure.. It;s basically the same as shown, by using a stitch marker to show where to begin and end. I can try to put a short tutorial up, but it will take me a few days to film, etc. Have you already started the shawl on your circulars? It's best to begin with the Portuguese style right from the beginning.
Thanks Maur, no I started in the middle because I met someone last night who was doing it and it looked really great and easy on the hands. I have the purl stitch down but can't seem to get the knit stitch yet. Thanks again and please rush. Have a great weekend!
Does the knitted fabric look just the same as with English or Continental knitting? Or are some of the Portuguese stitches look twisted?
I'd love to practice this, but I'm in the middle of a project . . .
+ladygray4 i the stitch does look the same, however, I wouldn't try it in the middle of a project for the simple fact that Portuguese stitches are a bit tighter than your Eng. or Continental. I flick English style, and have tried using the Portuguese style for purl rows, and my reg for the knit ones. I didn't find a big difference. I'd still practice separately myself.
