  • Jen stopped by to say hello and do any kind of stupid video I would throw at her... here is the result! I thought as someone who's been in many bands and has stood an the most different kind of stages all around the world, she would have something to say about a wireless system!

    I bought this system after watching this video after it was first uploaded. I was not dissapointed. I used mainly with Acoustic. The feature set for the price is amazing. Any hard working gigging pro's playing clubs & pubs etc would be happy with it. Here I am 2 years later and still using it with zero issues.

    I just looked through the Thomann page. The actually took Hennings advice. Both the sender and the cable are buyable as replacement/addition to the setup. Aaand they increased the longevity of the battery to 10 hours.
    Now they only need to find a better solution for the clip-on...
    Thank you guys for the review!!

    18650 batteries are extremely common these days as they are the standard for vaping devices. You can find them cheap online or in any vape shop in the world and chargers are also cheap and easy to find. I wouldn't worry about this. Good move by Thomann to choose this kind of babttery as they are easy to get, high capacity and long lasting. And, if you vape, your bound to have a few kicking around.

    The capacitive nature of cables is the longer it is the more highs are reduced. Anytime you have a signal cable and a ground separated by an insulator you get high roll off depending on the length of cable almost like using a tone control very cool.

  • @CJZonneveld

    The T.Bone Gig A Pro is great value for what you spend on it.
    With about 100 meter of free range you got plenty enough signal for each and every live show or rehearsal.
    There's only one downside to these, wich is the cable from the transmitter to the guitar, wich is quality wise not very strong.
    And because of the type of connection it nearly impossible to replace only the cable, so you'd have to replace the transmitter if anything happens to the cable or jack wich will cost around €110,-
    It would be nice if there would either be a more universal type of connection for the cable, or a stronger better quality cable with a angled plug to make the cable last longer.
    But overall the T.Bone Gig A Pro is a great buy, and i would surely recommend to all my guitar playing friends who do not like trippin' over cables during wild live shows🤘🏼

  • @OLDM4N-DE
    @OLDM4N-DE 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    With those two there is that funny relation, same as with Kiana. They just work well together, and can be silly at the same time. There is no limit, if two people just work well together. Some of you say Henning is silly, well, would that be a problem ? As long as you enjoy watching it, what does it matter ? And if you dont watch because of this, why even reading/writing comments, just to annoy others or the host ?
    I love watching those two, and I am not even talking about both their incredible knowledge, counting guitar, gear and so on. That just adds to it. I am relatively new (not in time but in knowledge) to Guitar stuff & playing, but these videos make me come back everytime. Just because they often contain a lot of information that I really like to hear, and no, reading a manual is not the same. Not at all. And the humor behind all these videos is what makes me feel so comfortable, because in many regards i really feel a kindred spirit in that sense of humor.
    For me, there is a lot to have from these videos. For that alone its worth it to me. That of course does not have to apply to other people the same way, but if not, just go away and accept the fact that you dont like it or that its not for you. Why posting trash instead ? Just to hurt the people that take a lot of time and work to produce those ? Think about it.
    Go on, Henning ! And please invite Jen more often.

    22:12 :D I would have my regrets with that strap too.
    Gotta agree, that strapclip is not the best without a lock that keeps it safe, there should also be two cables instead of just one with a straight jack, angled jack for some guitars makes sense?
    I also wonder how many mA the receiver needs and if it has a common 9V pedal powerplug, cause if I would use something like this I would want my pedalboards powersupply to feed it .
    That cable tone thing in the menu makes absolutely no sense, why would anyone want to use that for the sound comming from the guitar?
    Oh, and thanks for another fun to watch yet informative video :)

    • @robertw1871
      @robertw1871 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of pros don’t like wireless because it hits their rig different and changes the sound... hence all pro gear comes with some type of compensation to dial it in better... so they can use the wireless, but switch to a cable if it fails and not have to retune the entire rig while playing a stadium.... if your rig is tuned for a 100 foot cable the tone will be extremely harsh if you plug a wireless rig in, which is basically a zero foot cable...

    If anyone wan't to buy batteries and a charger there are a few things to look out for.
    Look for a charger that stops charging once the battery is at max of it's capacity, a safety bag to use with it is an good idea too.
    Watch out for that the 18500 has a protected circuit and comes as a flathead, same voltage as the one included in the set and capacity @ current draw is important, mA @ A can be higher for more duration before it needs to be recharged.

    Putting this transmitter in the pocket of jeans might feels good for Jen. But she will soon find out the the human body will dramatically reduce the distance of the whole wireless system as this thing works on 2.4GHz. Even the position on the strap would a trap for the radio.
    It's really hard to tell the difference of the cable simulation from this video as TH-cam already makes sound not so good. And I really think that is just a gimmick and nobody will notice at all.
    The swap-able plug is a very clever design and it really saves this kind of transmitter from very awkward situation when you plug it into a guitar and it just dangles there like something you know what.

    CABLES making a difference: Some people, including some electrical engineers not familiar with the details, would dismiss the idea of "audio cables" making a difference without thinking twice (or once), probably also being primed by the voodoo "audiophooles" to give a biased knee-jerk naysay response. What they forget is that this is not just "audio cables". If you have passive pickups, like most people, they have very high output impedance, and a cable with relatively high capacitance, e.g. due to length (spiral are longer than they may look) or dielectrical or/and geometric properties, will dampen the high end noticeably. Then, also, a pickup is a high inductance coil, forming a band pass filter with its inherent parallel capacitance and the added cable capacitance. This whole circuit of basically a LC resonator (inductance + capacitance of cable until the next amplifier) has a resonance peak frequency. Given the high inductance of the pickup, it takes relatively small added capacitance like those from a cable, to change the resonant frequency of this LC circuit! I.e. you can totally shift that peak around several kHz range and alter the tonal properties of your guitar dramatically. This effect is reduced by buffers, i.e. active on-board amplifier on your guitar, either inside, or outside of the pickups - but close to them, with very short internal cable. The buffer provides a low output impedance and decouples the LC resonator from the guitar cable's influence. So if your active guitar electronics are not crap, the cable after that should make a lot less to zero difference. This can also be a disadvantage - if you're used to controlling the tone of your instrument with your favorite cable (matched by ear to your pickups and amp EQ settings). I don't know what standard gear on the market today does with this - optimally, a on-board guitar buffer would allow you to shift that resonance peak with a control deliberately where you prefer it (as if swapping cables within microseconds), as just adding a buffer may make it way too high in the spectrum and shrill, now that the normal cable influence is missing. I guess active pickups with everything integrated are already set up to have a fixed tonal quality in that regard (i.e. they have integrated capacitance to put the peak where it's designers thought it sounded best).
    IIRC, Uli Jon Roth has the former method - he can shift the peak where he wants, or is what he used to have anyway, from what someone told me who once did electronic modifications / maintenance to his stuff.

    Jesus Christ. I've never witnessed such technologically incompetent people review a product beyond their capability. This was the worst A/B comparison of wireless/cable that I've ever seen in my life. You should genuinely be embarrassed.
    Maybe record some white noise? Track the latency? Look at the frequency response? The GigA Pro is above your heads. Tragic.
