- These Terraria fishing weapons are seriously good... Toxikarp and Bladetongue. In this video, I take a look at both the Toxikarp and the Bladetongue which are corruption and crimson weapons obtained from fishing in there respected biomes. These are seriously good options for early Hardmode melee and ranged players!

As someone who doesn't fish, I actually forgot these existed lol
Ikr
Well i didnt knew of their exsistance for a big while
I love the crimson fishing sword
Me too
You literraly forgor Crystal Serpent
It was never the power that makes these weapons so under picked. It’s the fact that no one wants to sit in a corrupted underground biome for any longer than 5 minutes early hardmode.
this
I just box myself in
@@spacesoldier1243 the *worms* tho
@@necron8992 For Corruption I make a fishing pond on the surface and box myself in
@@spacesoldier1243 oh ok
There is also a weapon in the hallow that can be fished up "Crystal serpent" the weapon shoots out a pink bolt that when hits a target it splits into 3 bolts, it uses magic and is great for single and muilti targets, like the destroyer.
Il 100% do a vid on the crystal serpent in the future!
Crystal Serpent is easily the best and most popular of the trio
@L128 @sockrteez it literally my fav hardmode mage weapon it can carry you all the way to plantera, and if you've got your hands on frozen wings you can kill Duke with it
It's not the best weapon but it's a great super early hard mode weapon
@@SacuSacuro which weapon is better in pre - mechbosses?
The Bladetongue isn't actually limited to being fished underground, I caught on in an artificial crimson lake that's high enough to be a sky lake.
cool, now i dont have to worry deal with floaty gross lol
same
pretty sure on the wiki it specifically says the underground crimson? so i have no idea where you got that from
@@chillfrosted2670 I caught one in the sky.
The wiki can be wrong, and has been wrong in the past.
@@Aderon you state that you have caught one in the sky but you have literally no proof. you cant just state it then claim that the wiki is wrong.
Friendly reminder to all that you can get the opposite Evil (corruption/crimson) to your world's Evil if you have the Dryad live in a Graveyard in Hardmode. Do so, and she'll sell the seeds for the opposite evil's grass, which you can use to build your own manual opposite Evil biome.
I like to take the Clemtaminator, purify one of the evil zones in my world, then re-taint it with the opposite evil... but that's just me.
Or load up the seed 05162020
@@pixelgamer4708 Sure, but I'm specifically talking about "your world's Evil", or is using a specific world seed. This was merely a reminder that people could, in fact, get the opposite Evil, regardless of which Evil their world has, purely by doing the steps above.
In general, I prefer to avoid world-hopping to get resources, trying to get what I need for play within the world I'm playing in, unless I'm doing unique personal challenges or the like. I know some, maybe even most, players don't mind doing it, but this was more of a reminder for those players like myself who want to get these things without having to make a new world to get outside-world resources.
That's all.
Never go for luck potions, if you do not have pearls ALREADY. Better spend that time fishing for the actual item you want, not the pearls. Also, if you want increased luck, you can use garden gnomes and biome torches instead
Added tip in case anyone's still here: as of 1.4.4, dropping coins into shimmer also gives you a luck bonus that lasts longer depending on the type of coin you threw in.
@@skelly4197 dropping pink pearl into shimmer also gives you permament luck buff
Tbh, Toxicarp isn't great for all mechanical bosses, it would be extremely helpful for skeletron prime but something like destroyer would be a pain to kill using it.
That is unless you can somehow keep the destroyer under you as the bubbles go upwards which in that case it would be a test of endurance and an easy win.
it's not good for any of the bosses
-too slow for twins
-not enough dps for prime
-will get overwhelmed against destroyer
dart rifle, onyx blaster, daedlus stormbow are much better counterparts
@@Shogun534 i killed the twins with the clockwork rifle before.
Crystal serpent high tier can be use to kill early fishron (if ur good at dodging that is)
@@Shogun534 crystal serpent can outclass both and u can take the crystal serpent up to pre plantera
Sockrteez: "But which one is better?"
Me: "Crystal Serpent!"
Edit: Its sad that there's no jungle version for summoner :(
It would be cool if it was like an electric eel and it did a debuff related to it

@@poke-maniacchris2965 most likely mushroom biome, it isnt strictly a evil biome, but it is one with just as much importance as hollow in the progression of better gunner armor and better potions, I dont know why the devs didnt think of giving summoners a mushroom summon
Wouldn’t this be sanguine staff? It isn’t in fish form, but you get it by fishing
Little story
When I first started playing Terraria and started getting into it, I saw a video on the Toxikarp. I recently learned about artificial biomes, so I thought it would be nice to make a biome near my spawn. I put 200 ebonstone blocks in the air near a small fishing spot. The artifical biome worked, so I defeated the wall of flesh and made my way back to my base. To my horror, I saw that the corruption already started to spread. Not only this, but a nearby desert biome was cursed with corruption. I spent my last moments on that world fighting the corruption, but it was no use. I eventually fell to the harsh rule of the corruptions and I was forced to quit. A grim day, it was.
I always try to get the bladetounge for early hm crowd control. The ichor is really useful in master mode with the massive defence buffs enemies get.
especially useful on strict melee only playthroughs if you don't want to use ichor flask and instead another flask for higher damage overall, such as cursed inferno flasks or acid venom flasks.
@@IAmMuffin. wdym debuffs
Ichor flasks with an better range meele weapon like yoyos is prob an better opinion as it's easy to be killed with true meele on master mode
if you're better at the game bladetongue might be the better option on a strict melee only run, however im pretty sure that yoyos don't count on a "true" melee run. however that depends on how true your true melee run is
@@A_pers0n I don't like doing true meele tbh ik yoyos are projectiles.
I have to believe that the crystal serpent wasn’t included because we already know how good it is, like it is a very good weapon for the early hardmode bosses, and even duke fishron if you attempt that boss early
I didnt even knew these existed even after Playing Terraria for over 7 years.
this is such an underrated channel, people that invest more time for quality instead of quantity should be aclaimed, and you are one of them! Btw i think i would take the bladetongue, asi already have good weapons for single target, and invasions are a phobia of mine.
I remember getting the bladetounge once in a crimson ice biome when i was trying to get the pigron mount and eventually got the sword (it was a melee playthrough) and it was decent to use against enemies. The ichor effect that it gave was bad for bosses since i always use flasks but it was good for single enemies since i didnt wanna use the flasks for simple enemies.
I know what he wrote but ICHOR DEBUFF BAD??!??!?
@@supercitizenidk8189 bad was probably not the correct word lets say not as useful because i use flasks which already made every melee weapon inflict the debuff
i been playing terraria for years and had no idea this items even existed. good video
Fishing is so addictive to me. I start doing it thinking I will stop once I get the fish finder for the cell phone, and then a few days later I have a fishing pond in every biome
I don't spend much time fishing so i had no idea these existed, definitely gonna try them in my next run
Nice name bro
@@SacuSacuronot as nice as yours brother 🤝🏻
Like how fast ur growing
One of ur early subs like since 3k
Since then all the way till now only quality content love it
Keep it up
You learn something knew about terraria everyday, didn't have a clue the toxic Karp existed
Toxikarp is underrated, mostly because rangers have so many other options ... But if you're playing a fisherman playthrough, then it's better than crystal serpent in a lot of situations. Especially against pre-mech Duke.
Definitely, I’d highly recommend it for ranger players just entering hardmode
If you hate finding wizard then I would get it but I like using guns alot
The blade tongue can also be fished at any layer. It isn’t restricted to the underground. I was able to get one in a surface crimson
0:31 oh bell na this man got the ADAMANTITE PICKAXE
I made underground corruption biom for that wepon in my world and got it first try.
seriously good and seriously rare, i don't use fishing much but i can't remember how long it's been since i last got one of them
Honestly prefer toxicarp due to range you can attack from and blade from crimson shoots really strange directions
I only discovered the Toxikarp very recently through another video, never knew it existed before, but I knew I wanted one so as soon as I get into Hardmode on my current playthrough that's what I'm gonna do.
Crystal serpent is great too, in all my mage playthroughs, I always rush for it, it shreds duke Fishron and I tend to kill duke pre mech.
I have a vid on me killing duke pre mech in mobile expert mode, I planning on doing a master mode one next since I'm on journey.
It's very good on fat targets, like bosses.
i like how each word evil gets a different hard mode fishing weapon and class, mage gets crystal serpent in the hallow, ranger gets toxicarp in the corruption, and melee gets bladetongue in the crimson
Brilliant video - No messing around.
Hey they forgot about the crystal serpent (it was the first hard mode mage weapon I got)
The Blade Tongue is a good weapon, but I feel like it should be buffed alongside the other True Melee Weapons in 1.4.4 now. (It hasn’t been changed ever since it was introduced in 1.3), like getting a bigger size and slightly more dps.
Terrablade and its components are becoming true melee so there is hope.
@@liamfisher7178 Which is real bad, rip melee if there isn't a catch
@@hajimehinata5854 It’ll probably be like, one button for True Melee, the other for projectiles with the Terra Blade. True Night’s Edge is Projectile and True Excalibur is True Melee. Perfectly balanced.
@@hajimehinata5854 yeah man, i hope they do something about it. And I'd love it to be less generic
melee is too overpowered in hardmode and useless in preharmode against bosses
"do you always fish for those items?" I didn't even know they existed
Man alot of the weapons you show off I didn't even know exist, thank you
Now i wont be the only one who used these weapons. I got the karp, serpent AND tongue on my first playthrough. I accidentally got the tongue and jarp while fishing for potion ingredients and i found about the serpent via the wiki. Those are my 3 most used hardmode weapons. Now even kind of nostalgic
I have tried the bladetounge and to be 100% honest I think it below average. Because the grind to get it is not worth it because you WILL replace it as soon you defeat a mech boss. It not even good against the mech boss. But I said it blow average that because it actually very good against group enemies like in the goblin invasion and I feel if the devs made it easier to get it will be a standard in my melee runs
The only drawback for the bladder tongue, is that it only shoots ichor when you hit an enemy.
That voice and editing are worthy of a sub
I am team red and always fish for the blade tongue even if I play any other class that's not melee it is amazing because it's basically free ichor!
I loooove the Toxicarp! I am always looking forward to getting it, it's speed, high damage and lack for a need of ammo makes it among my favorite ranger weapons. It isn't the greatest at taking out bosses in my opinion, but it is excellent for almost everything else.
I farmed with it for a long time! It can actually be fine for crowds, if you have a decent skill using it. It can be good for all pre-mech enemies and for biome mimics too.
I agree though endless musket balls also work if you don't mind the money.
@@Seannahrtsyou Also true!
Toxicarp is really good with debuffs as well so it’s super good early game
I don't know if they changed it, but the Bladetongue isn't exclusively caught underground anymore, as I caught two of these swords in a sky island that I had made an artificial crimson biome in.
I make a rule for myself on any new character that their world is the only world they can enter until after they defeat the WoF. I also always go for a random world initially. I prefer getting the corruption in an unrestricted playthrough...not because of the toxikarp (I tend to get the Crystal Serpent instead of either of these two), but because of how broken Cursed Darts are. Even with only the Blowgun and no Dart weapon (though I do still grind for the Dart Rifle when I can), early Hardmode becomes an absolute breeze the moment you kill your first Clinger with a Blowgun in your inventory. It took a while, but Relogic eventually making Cursed Flames, and their associated weapons/ammos not suck, was great.
finally a video on these underrated weapons!
toxikarp is nice when you don't have anything else so I rarely use it when I get lucky to find it quick, but the sword has carried me through a lot of the early hardmode on multiple playthroughs, I like it a lot. but then again, it's just for the super early hardmode, I always go for daedalus as fast as possible to farm the destroyer and get the rest of the upgrades from there xD
im team corruption but the crimson is good for the items honestly. both side but i like the appeal of corruption from how it looks, idk why
the toxicarp is probably the most unique weapon in the game, it's ranged and uses no ammo, and the projectile floats upwards
You have a good point but why I don't really like the corruption is because if I'm traveling through the corruption in pre hard mode I fall in the holes
@@SoulsOfCinder63 the crimson hills are sometimes a pain to navigate through and jump over too in very early game
@@Lunarcreeper true with the weird world gen you can get some annoying hills

Purple clubbfish also goes pretty hard if you manage to get it early on
I dont think I knew either of these existed, cool video!
these weapons getting more and more obscure by the day
Toxikarp for ranger user and it's pretty good against early Hardmode Boss. While Bladetongue is good for melee user to shred Multiple enemies. If you 4 target dummy while you stand in the middle and attack, it can shoot many ichor projectile which is very useful way to grind some coins or items on Solar Eclipse (i feel satisfied when i tried this)
I've fished up a bladetongue just below the space layer before
This was 1.3 though so that's
1: A change in 1.4 onwards or
2: Wherever you got the information was wrong
Can you also make a video on the scaly truffle (the one you fish from the cavern hallow/evil ice) it's pretty much the most forgotten mount :)
bro i completely forgot it existed , and i don't even know what it does!
@@Shogun534 It's like a budget version of the Shrimpy Truffle that summons a pigron for you to ride on. It doesn't have infinite flight and I'm pretty sure the flight depends on your current wings added onto its own air time.
@@SacuSacuro
1: it always has the same flight
2: it's not really a downgraded version, it's more of a mix between bee mount and unicorn/bunny mount
But it does have it's downsides, such as the fishing, and the low catch rate. But, I believe it's definitely a mount worth checking out :)
@@SacuSacuro
Tho sorry if I'm wrong about the flight thing
@@994playz Well it's a mount I haven't spent alot of time on so it's okay! It's actually a very good mount and I love it too. IJ just doesn't get enough respect because it's less known

also congrats for 11k
Thanks!
I have my lights and shadows config pinned on my discord server. Link is in my vid description :)
I honestly thought toxicarp was a weapon in a mod and I had no idea blade tongue was even I thing
Could you make a video on the piranha gun? Its actually pretty good and I used it to kill Duke Fishron on master mode with shroomite gear.
The piranha gun is a really interesting weapons! Il definitely do a vid on that in the future
Love your channel bro
I actually fished the Bladetongue multiple times in my crimson ocean, while trying to get the water walking boots
the toxiccarp has always been one of my favorite weapon. i love ranged weapons that don’t use mana/ ammo
they're both very useful
and for a gimmick Fisherman Class playthrough they are must haves.
today I literally got a toxikarp on my first try lmao
I think blade tongue is kinda redundant when there are early hardmode melee weapons that shoot projectiles without being close to an enemy. The bladetongue should shoot it's ichor stream regardless of distance, then it would be worth boring yourself for
I'd argue toxicarp is better, because a flail + flask of ichor can deal with crowds like the blade tounge, wheras the toxicarps advantages are hard to find elsewhere. It's great against speedy flying enemies or in close quarters, in contrast to many other ranger weapons, and doesn't need its own ammo pool, which is handy for saving inventory space for other things while still having a well rounded arsenal.
I normally keep a sword equipped on ranger for bats, bees, and spiderwebs, but the toxicarp deals with those things just as well, if not better.
I never really knew these existed. I don’t do much evil fishing, just purity
If you want both of these for you and your friends (if you have any) just buy the opposite evil seeds from dryad in a graveyard during hardmode
U can also wear the lava proof tackle bag along with tackle bag + earring for even more power
So there's the Hallow's Crystal Serpent for Mages as well. The Summoner gets... uuuh well I guess we can count the Sanguine Staff? You get that from fishing. But you also get the Drippler Crippler and the Blood Thorn from fishing in Hard Mode Blood Moon. Would be cool if you got some sort of Shimmer type summon from fishing in the Shimmer in Hard Mode. Maybe if they required you to get a Shimmer-proof fishing hook too.
1:12 i got one on the surface in my mage playthrough probably because its 1.4.1 lol
Edit: works in 1.4.3 too no longer worry about worms anymore just got the toxicarp
Tbh I didn’t even know these were vanilla items since I only randomly got it while playing through calamity
Tbh i think the toxic carp could turn into the best mech boss option with just two buffs, a bit of proyectile velocity and splash damage on the bubbles
Not necessarily a fished weapon but it is dropped by a fished enemy, the Drippler Crippler is so good just beginning hard mode, you can get it right after killing wof if its a blood moon and defeat a certain enemy from fishing (I don't know the name of the enemy)
I imagine the Tokicarp could also be a decent option for Duke Fishron if you go for a high damage loadout.
I'd love for you to talk about the flamelash. It's one of my favourite weapons to use in early hardmode and late pre-hardmode
Bro these things are so irrationally rare, that you’d probably already have beaten a mech boss AT LEAST before you get that shit.
Once I got the crimson one fishing at the crimson ocean on a blood moon, I spawned a shark from the water and he dropped it
Never knew these weapons existed until this video
I used the Bladetongue back in 1.3 and it was very good, i used the Toxikarp in 1.4 and if your struggling on ammo the Toxikarp for single target
don't forget about the crystal serpent from fishing in hallow. OP magic weapon carries you to post plantera
personaly I'd prefer going for the golden shower than the blade tounge simply because you can still keep your distance and be accurate with the ichor application. The toxicarp on the other hand is a fun weapon paired with the frost armor set
POV: you go for the crystal serpent instead of toxickarp or bladetounge
I always fish for the bladetongue but not so much toxikarp since I like using the dart rifle so much
the blade tongue is supposed to be used as a secondary weapons so you dont need to use the ichor flask and be able to use another type of flask for more dps like venom etc.
they aren't rare at all, only marginally more uncommon than bass and specular fish in my experience
as a summoner the Toxicarp is my goto for a close range emergency weapon when i need to deal a shit ton of damage to some random minion but don't want my summons to leave the boss
To anyone wondering what to do in a multiplayer playthrough, I recommend you do as I did and focus entirely on fishing. It's surprisingly reliable. You will have to start using an actual class eventually (which is why i went summoner), but still, it's fun
i think you should look at the nail gun its really good & it can be very useful in the duke fishron battle
I wonder how many people even know that the luck potions exist let alone used the pink Pearl potion
Ikr, I’m amazed by how many people don’t know about luck potions let alone the luck mechanic. Il definitely do a vid covering luck as simply as possible in the future
@@sockrteez all hail the torch god and his menial luck increment
I honestly forget about these, the blade tongue would be great against piates
1:14 this pool is not great for fishing. For people that don't know water surface down is what is was starts to count and anything past the torch on the left simply down count yes his fishing will work but the more water tiles to the surface the better the odds up to 300.
I've been playing this game for years
And this is the first time I've ever heard of these-
who the hell defeating Queen slime on post mech anyway.
I think he definitely missed the most OP of the hardmode fishing weapons in the crystal serpent
Honestly my only gripe with either of these weapons is that you can't aim the Bladetongue's Ichor shots(or at least it didn't look like that was the case judging from the gameplay). I'll still probably give it a try someday, but I'd much rather be able to aim the ichor shots and possibly even be able to shoot them without hitting enemies(the weapon doesn't really need that, it's just a preference thing).
0:45 looks seriously like ender pearls
I did a ranger no ammo playthrough using paint gun, toxicarp, and piranha gun. It was fun other then phm
I like that crystal serpent is magic, blade tongue is melee and toxicarp is ranger. It a cool idea. But the question is where summoner?
Toxikarp is definitely a Pokemon in an alternate universe
The crystal serpent is the counterpart for the hollow and imo is better than either of these its usable to kill the mech bosses
Actually you can get the bladetounge above ground. I got one from a crimson beach
How does it compare to cursed flames? The book is incredibly easy to craft if you find the magician.
Just some flames, a book and souls and you have a very high damage spammable area attack that causes cursed flame over time.
Both can be caught early on but arguably the flames are much easier. Especially with how much fishing gear you'll have at that point.
I cant believe people dont know much about these weapons, the bladetongue is one of my favorite weapons since I dont have to farm ichor and shreds the destroyer because I cant dodge bullet hell in melee
The bladetongue won me over for the super cool sprite alone. Instantly being able to get a cool ichor shooting sword at the start is awesome.
Though, fishing in the crimson underground only? That’s, wrong,
Personally never used the blade touge so idk if is good but personal have used the poisen fish accedently cought it fishing for crates and I used it to poisen basically every danger in the game with other weapons and I like the poisen effect on top of the icor shower and let's say a Terra blade cause not only poisen but decreased damage and also the power of main weapon
Shreads bosses try it it Is worth trying would not expect bosses to die that fast but alot of them fr do die decently quick for the weird combo I use
