THANK YOU for being normal about this. Jfc, it's possible to be kinky without being an asshole. Legitimately wish consent was default taught in sex ed, I feel like so much of this would be avoided if folks learned to be considerate of others from a younger age. It was so refreshing to see a critique of adverse kink behavior without blanket painting kinksters as "degenerate."

In defense of public sex, it might be worth looking up the history of laws prohibiting it and who theyre actually meant to target -- queer ppl, sex workers, and homeless people (and there is Often Overlap), not random straight women with a fetish. Sex in a hotel? Also considered sex in public. Sex in bar bathrooms and alleys used to be the safest place for gay men to meet up and have any at all, besides hotels -- all of which were busted by cops. Among peers, there was an implicit "just politely ignore it" rule as long as they were keeping to themselves.
And teens FAMOUSLY have made love in cars! You know who else does? People who live out of their cars! Like my dear friend and her husband do, live out of their car, that is.
These women are obviously not thinking about that context because they have the privilege not to, but we have to actually think more critically about these things than equating "sex in an abandoned building or isolated area" (which admittedly elevator doesnt fit, but seemed an outlier) and "sex in the middle of a busy mall"

With the overall ongoing issue of consent, the idea that someone would consider it a 'normal'/'everyday' aspect of sex and just start (for example, as choking was what the person in the tiktok mentioned) grabbing their partner's neck without asking is fucking horrifiying; I hate my neck being touched in any capacity and that would be genuinely traumatising

This is probably the only video I watched on kinktok, and it’s because I figured you’d have an actually nuanced opinion and not just spend the entire video kinkshaming while saying you aren’t kinkshaming. And I was right, this was a good watch! I’ll be honest, I may just be misinterpreting but for the ones talking about situations that happen to them like the family gathering one, they come off more as, y’know, fantasies than real events? I and other kinky friends of mine have plenty of fantasies that we’d never try out in real life for obvious reasons, but it’s not like we don’t talk about it with each other when it’s just us. Like, do I actually think the family gathering guy would do that in real life? Probably not. It just sounds like the sort of jokes me and my close friends make, because we’re comfortable talking about that with each other- and these “(insert interest/niche here)tok” spaces are often treated like that a bit, assuming that’s you’re only going to be reaching people in your same niche who will understand what you mean (at least from my perspective, though I only know tiktok through my partner and what I see on the rest of the internet). And I feel like we can’t exactly blame these specific kinky people for all of what they do because, well, tiktok is a platform where skits, especially ones about your personal life, are popular. If kink is a big part of your personal life, then why wouldn’t you talk about it on the internet? It’s the same level of detail someone on tiktok might go in to about their job, tiktokers film in public all the time, it’s only seen as more extreme because it’s about sex and kink. I agree that it’s not good to film these sorts of things in public, but you can’t wholly blame them when that’s exactly the niche that tiktok goes for.
I’m sure some people on here perhaps are practicing kink and BDSM irresponsibly, i don’t have any practical experience in the scene yet, so maybe I’m a little naive to how common that is, but I also feel like… this is just a bit, meh? I mostly agree with your point but I very much think that your arguments about exhibitionism could use a little more nuance. It's bad to expose people to sex acts they didn't agree to, but some of the things you have shown and criticized don't do that. The remote vibe for example, nobody around them could possibly notice, so nobody got exposed to it. The ticktock where the girl is being grabbed by the chin (not the neck) and some mild horny talk (most likely when other people aren't even close enough to hear or even notice it) also. Expressing affection is ok, even if it implies something sexual. Kissing does imply that you're also having sex, it's just normalized so we don't get that same "they are exposing themself to people around them" feeling.
