For the millionth time he is not a white supremacist even if he was once. He made several videos about this topic back then. I'm not his fan by any means BTW. He said white people are are best adapted to European climates while black people's bodies are obviously better suited for African climates. What sucks is that Filosofem is a legitimately good atmospheric black metal album. I can't stand the people who started Norwegian black metal but the music is good and influenced a lot of actually good people to make music. Look up Fascicide, Perpetually Pist, and Feminizer. Varg is a disgrace to the metal scene as well as the Nordic pagan community.

If you have a genuine interest in learning, you might consider starting with Bathory's "One Rode to Asa Bay" music video. The lyrics and images do a good job of showing the reasons why this music grew and why the historical figures behind this music have some popularity today. For the record, the early black metal musicians were and are Pagans. A gentle way of life that respects nature and women. This fact is indisputed in actual research.

Separately, I laughed when I found out that Varg was building the image of a serious brutal speaker. I immediately remembered the moment where he portrays a Christian with a bucket on his head.

Pretty much all alternative started as a counterculture, usually with Leftist ideologies for sure. Metal has always been weird though. It has such a "macho" and edgy sound that it attracted lots of aggressive men with aggressive opinions. Same with punk, and that's why boneheads came out of the skinhead movement. And some of the ideologies that came with leftist punkiness was stuff like anti-religion and anti-ruling class ideology which is a fast track to anti-jew ideologies with misinformation, and then anti-race ideology. Black metal has always been weird in general as well.

You're creating a false narative for those who come here unaware. I've seen these "Varg's a racist and if you like him you are too" videos a million times. And they all have one thing in common, they all leave out what a huge selfish egotistical asshole Euronymous was. Though he was a great musician too, and I won't stop listening to Mayhem because of it either. Varg's opinions do not effect me in any way. I do not worship him or read his books or Blogs. I like Burzum's early records because I was into his music before I knew anything about his personality at all. I like his riffs and lyrics and nothing more. I know he's a loon, and I don't agree with him politically. But to say I don't like his music would be a huge lie. He's just one of several black metal musicians I like, and there are many. I liked it better before all you normies started getting into it anyway. Look up Jon Nödtveidt if you wanna make a follow up. "He's a fucking murderer" part 2. He was an accessory to murder.
