The sword is ridiculously overpowered, you deal 3x Isaac's damage +3,5 and, you can swing as fast as you can mash the button, the charged attack deals 8x +10 damage and you can open chests or pick stuff up over rocks xD As a comparison, mom's knife deals 2x damage while being held and 6x damage at its furthest range
@@art-cs6us Sword also has an interesting interaction where it scales up with your player size, meaning you can cleave through a whole room with just a couple of pills Also there's a lightsaber synergy
@@art-cs6us I do, and I think we disagree on which item to take. I'l say that Mom's Knife is more common on T.Lost, as Devil Deals are just a little stronger, but I'm always taking the carpal tunnel simulator.
Isaac is just one of those games. It's like Magic The Gathering or something, where everyone has some exposure to it and opinions and ancient esoteric knowledge to share.
I was secretly hoping for a double challenge episode, but mom is pretty deep and challenging I guess. These episodes are just as fun though, btw, imo. Oh yea Merry Christmas everybody.
Death's List is an incredible item that I ADORE, but it does have a lot of odd... intricacies. First of all: You're 100% correct, it's an amazing item because it's good value even if you don't go for it every room. The safe way to use it is to use it when you can, but not prioritise it above, like, y'know, staying alive. It essentially gives you an extra pickup every room you successfully complete it, which means it's good, but not life-changing. However, any instance where it feels buggy is usually because an enemy dies off-screen (in many cases it was because of your familiars, particularly the Knife from the alt path just murdering a guy) or because of how the game counts 'dying' for enemies. Any enemy which splits into multiple or summons adds is essentially an insta-fail for Death's List because the Death's List order is calculated first on room entry (chooses a random guy) and then again on a successful entry (choose another random guy), meaning that alterations to the room between kills are just a lose-lose situation. Fantastic item, though, one of my favourites
how do you do that thing where the screen flashes and all the bullets disappear im sorry I couldn't not mention blasphemy when playing with a laser shooting sword
Great run although I don't think you gave mom's bracelet a fair chance. And I'm not saying Guppies head was worse choice either. They do very different things but both mom's bracelet and the reworked notched axe are basically golden bombs for every floor so they are pretty underrated in my opinion. They are far better for utility rather than damage tho. One of my favorite things in repentance is how they buffed and reworked most of the useless active items. But sadly many still fail in comparison against the utility of the d6, the simple use and raw damage of guppy's head or just the consistent health of book of revelations. I'm sorry to make this pretty bias comment because when unlocking stuff I also defaulted to the classic powerful active items, it just that now I generally take the more fun active item instead of the most powerful. And even if worse many are not bad at all so it's not like you are actively ruining your run. But idk, just play with whatever feels right.
oh 100%, I don't think it is a bad item at all I think it is great, I just wanted a little more damage reliability since I was unfamiliar with using the sword for the first time. Obviously hindsight tells that damage is completely fine with it lol.
Reto fell in love with butterbean and presses buttons. He's our guy. That said, I've been very curious about the bracelet and have wanted to see it like every time it's been in the shop etc, cause it seems incredibly useful early on when bombs are scarce and pre-flight etc.
Hey just a tip, I’m fairly sure regular slot machines can only spawn black flies which cannot damage you in any way. So you shouldn’t need to shoot continually while playing them.
Sword picks up items over gaps and even opens chests, even spike ones for no damage.
that is absurd
@@Retromation It's basically a Mimic Check from DS :P

Watching your gameplay and comment section makes me realize how much I would get yelled at playing this game

its amazing that there is no bad synergies with moms knife anymore
(I haven't played since the afterbirth dlc before your series)
Try playing as the Forgotten and getting Mom's Knife and Loki's Horns
Worst mistake of my life

Merry Christmas Retro!
You can configure the external items description mod so the text is smaller if it's in the way Reto
You can also make it so it doesn't appear during combat
3:18 dice rooms can't reroll your challenge starting items
Good to know there’s some built in safety nets. I never knew that

Legend of Zelda meets TBOI, love it

Cool run
Hey... Hello? Listen!
That would be a great item to add to this challenge.
Go Isaac!
A fair few of enemy "projectiles" count as an enemy for Death's List unfortunately
More!
Yeah baby!

Yeah, that was easy for your first singe fight.
You will learn to fear that boss, though.
