hey mike i noticed when you were putting the jug on you had it the wrong way i hope you pulled the jug back off and and put it back on without twisting it. another tip is to leave the cam chain auto adjuster out when installing the timeing chain and cams you get a little more slack out of you chain when it is out other then that everythng is looking good..
been thru all so far, I have to say its great vids man. This with a parts breakdown ... Decent... A little criticism tho, you should include the small stuff like o-ring placement and little tidbits that often get missed while assembling. Otherwise Great Vids Man, On to # 5!!!
@yamahagytrracing21 Just got my gaskets and the new clutches. I have to put the new crank in my new case tomorrow. Then its all down hill from there. I hope to have it done by sunday. I got my cams from magic racing $298 out the door.
@clyddoudou yes there is a big gain with the kit and the cams it acclorates faster and has more snap, and faster reving. as far as speed i didnt gain any speed b.c i didnt change sprokets or anything
which cams are you going to run? I ran the Hotcams Stage I in my 06 WR450f and the decompression pin was far too small in both lift and duration. I had to send them back 2 times. Words of the once unwise: dont assume your battery is just dead when you try to turn it over for the first time lol... i roached my starter, starter solenoid, starter relay in 5 seconds!!
How much do you have left to do on the YFZ. I just spit the case. What are the odds to people doing the same set up. I have a hot rods stroker crank, Athen big bore, Stage 3 hot cams and some small bolt ons. What main and pilot jets are you planning on starting out with when you fire it up? I'm starting out with a 195 main and 52 pilot jet. I'm going to post a vid of the first fire when I get it done. Hope all goes well man.
@SOHCGT same one man? no shit thats cool. i just have to get stage 3 cams, be it will be a month nd a half till i can. im goin to get a couple pilots nd start with a 50 and a 178 just to start.
how much money approx will i spend to change cyl & piston?? and should i get YAMAHA OEM or other brands like Athena??? is changing piston & cyl, a "top end rebuild"???
Hey man, I did a top end rebuild on my trx450r a few months back without even taking any cases off. I used copper wire to hold the cam chain so i never even took it off the bottom gear. Now I own a 2004 yfz450 but now it needs a lower jug gasket, is it possible for me to do it the same way tha tI did for my trx or will it not work on a yfz.
Hey man do I have to remove my head to replace my cam chain guides? Ppl are saying I do but here in your video you install them after your heads on....?
i mean my WR450 was retarded fast with just a JE 13.5:1piston and the Hotcams, more torque down low, more rev up top. I was just a little pissed off at their quality control. I assumed that when they said the cams would work with electric start, they would not blow out my starter system and cost me an extra 300 bucks.... It also didnt help that my idiot friend told me that my battery was just probably dead and held the button down....snap crackle pop lol
Just make sure when you put the head back on with piston at TDC that the timing gear marks are lined up where they should be..if a valve is open it will contact the piston
seanchriscraft okay man thanks! This is my first time cracking into one of these.. quick question in the vid he doesn't take the head of to replace the timing chain and guides.. can I replace my guides without taking my head off ?
Just found this.. : "There is in fact a cross pin built into the guide that sits in a recess in the head, so yes, to remove that guide, the head has to come off."
Nice move man. Lots of shiny new parts lol.
Great videos man! You help alot of people out with what you do.. Keep up the good work!
awesome. first everything awesome vid mike keep workin on her

A mad man with the oil xDD cant hurt tho, nice vids man.

nice! cant wait to see it fire up lol

yea but my luck is that nothing fires up the first time, always something wrong lol
@dmaheryfz450 no theres a brass bushing on the rod
which cams are you going to run?

Did you install the dowel pins that hold the cylinder in place and the gaskets there's two for each surface.

yea i know, i just did that to turn the cam off. nd ill prob take that out to, i just want to get the parts on so i can clean the motor up.
haha well lets hope that doesnt happen. but i am buying stage 3 cams.
what's the difference between the 450 cc and the 508 cc?can u really feel a different?does it go faster?does it have more hp,how fast does it go?
@ltz250boy93 why blow it up first? lol sometimes that cost more money lol

I did all the same shit you did, but my valves were floated, and idk if you know how much 5 titanium valves are....was not happy at all.
nice, how long did this take you?

Is the brown ring for the piston the top or bottom ring?
Great vid! One tip ----- before you slap the head on, make sure piston is not TDC - valves will crunch
seanchriscraft are you sure man?
