Starting my og collection at 20 years old. And you videos help out big time
One thing that never seems to change about how different retros are compared to originals is the chunky wider shape. No longer sleek, aerodynamic almost pointed original AJ that made them versatile for any occasion. Now a chunky lifestyle shoe that bends like a banana. Always thought this is because many ppl used to complain about Nike being too narrow for them, now they make shoes wider to appeal to a more widespread worldwide customer base.
As someone with quite narrow feet, I've noticed this change. And I'm not happy about it!

Copped a pair of ‘06 Cardinal Retros last year for $100. Very beautiful pair, and they held up well for (now) 14 years. A little bit of crease at the toes, and some slight paint chipping at the midsoles, but otherwise a clean and wearable pair. I like the added detail of the gold lace tips, would be nice to have on the OG’s.
‘02-‘11 was a great era for Retro 7’s.
Maybe 2022 will be the year of the 7. We can get a remastered and more true to OG version of the 7.
I just got a pair of 92 Bordeaux's. The handtag says made in Taiwan, the production date is 910911FT2 and they have 2 laceholes. I also have 92 Cardinals, and they're handtag production date is 920709FT2 and they have 3 laceholes. So mine are from the same factory, different production years and have a different number of laceholes.

I guess the number of laceholes wasn't consistent between production dates and the factory. One production run could have 3 and boom 2 on the next. Thanks for the good content btw

If you notice the retro midsole VII's bubbles out on the heel compared to the 92 pair. When it comes to midsole swapping, you won't be able to use the 92 outsole because it'll be too short to align properly with the donor midsole.
I saw on niketalk a user used a flexible caulk to replace the polyurethane that crumbled on the OG's instead of midsole swapping
Flexible caulk is a band-aid fix and not recommended if you plan to wear the shoes. A midsole swap, with dremel modifications for fitment would be the ideal situation in which a professional restorer should be able to administer.

I'm actually wearing my 2016 Bordeaux 7's as I watch this video. I was looking for the og shadow 7's or dark charcoals. I remember MJ setting the record for 3s in a half, he was a perfect 6 for 6, said he was in the zone & just shrugged his shoulders

I had another a pair i cant remember what year they where released but they where black suade best jordans i had ever owned. I cant even find a picture of then online. They would have come out around 92-94.

Hey man love your channel. Quick question, are the 1992 OG Raptor Colorway originally all black on the Nubuck upper like the 2012 Retro? I ask because every photo I see of the 92 Raptor 7s seem like the have Charcoal color-blocking on the Nubuck Upper similar to the DMP Pack Raptor 7s from 09'. I want to cop but I'm not sure if I should go with the DMP version or the 2012 Retro because I prefer all my Jordans to be representative to OG pairs when MJ wore them.
Black and dark grey or charcoal. The 2012 is all black. I don't own the 2012 or the DMP but a simple google search of photos should give you your answers.

WHAT ABOUT A JORDANS 7" CALLED "THRUE FLIGTH" ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENTS'
would these be wearable? i see some people saying midsole will crumble, but some people say VII's have phylon soles and don't crumble. Sole separation wouldn't be a big issue for me I could just glue it, but i'm not sure if i can do a sole swap.
Not wearable. You'll most likely need a reglue and possibly a sole swap since the interior is polyurethane with an encapsulated air unit.
R the Bordeaux 7s comin back this year? Thats a backburner shoe i gotta pick up one way or another. The Bordeaux was the first 7 i laid eyes on and i wanted it. No cigar 26 years and counting 😎

The 7’s seemed to have unconventional colorways instead of the standard bulls colors. Was there any reason for that other than being trendy for the times?
The 7 was inspired by Tinker walking by a record shop and seeing an Afropop Worldwide image in the window. Has a bunch of African inspired artwork and so that’s how that design process started. Tying it in with MJ he was becoming to be known as a worldwide sports hero and the 7 broke through. Especially with the Olympics and the Dream Team that year.

The ones I’ve seen through auction houses and game worn pairs shoe 3 holes. There are probably some with 2. I don’t have an explanation yet other than difference in factories.

Glue is probably dried up so if that’s the case walking on hot asphalt, the soles may separate. The 10 year mark is usually the time shoes start to degrade. These are great condition though!
My 02 Charcoals aka Raptors are still good money, no separation at all so you might be good with the 06 cardinals but you might have to be easy on the pull tab in the back. The plastic 23 logo might cracks. Mines are starting to crack.
True. Yeah I still have my 2002 as well but thinking of selling now that I have my OG set complete.
The foam on my raptors are still plush and reliable. Just a lil cracking on the tabs but those can be replaced if i really cared about em

No longer wearable bro. The insides are brittle and only way to fix that through restoration is to fill it in.

I use a 10 year rule. Even less if you don’t wear the shoe. Expect to reglue or sole swap

Most I’ve had since they’ve originally released. Others I would get off other collectors I’ve befriended privately otherwise, consignment shops or goat or eBay.

$125.00 in 1992 is the same as $249.00 in 2022.
To give you an idea of just how bad inflation has been in 2021 under Obiden, the shoes in 2020 only cost in 2020 dollars $230.00. That's an increase of 8% in just over one year. No other year since 1992 has there been an increase in inflation by 8%. Lets go Brandon!

I wouldn’t risk it unless you have a plan in place for a sole swap.
Don’t just the inside of the shoe the air unit isn’t that the only thing that cracks because the midsole is phylon and you can reglue it
The inside caves in and so you wouldn’t be able to just straight reglue it with the same midsole. It would need an entirely new midsole.
