Exactly! Noticed in the last I Hate Your Deck episode that Wizards gave Post Malone his very own alternate art and named card for his birthday. Post has been publicly playing Magic for what a year or so and he gets that much love from them. Yet the Professor, who has been playing and advocating for Magic for years now can't even get a spoiler card since he started truthfully pointing out things he doesn't like about their business practices and poor card quality. Not saying Post doesn't deserve what he got, but dang.
I think it would be worth mentioning in your videos that most of the money cards to sell come from playing the game. Each month, stores receive an armory kit with Promo cards, alternate art foils, cold foil weapons or heros and playmats. Playing and winning allows you to win those and then try and sell them to pay back what you put in the game, or collect. The prize support of LSS is awesome and really rewards the time you put in the game.
I played in my first Flesh and Blood welcome tournament recently! I'm very glad that the game is starting to catch on in my area! And to anyone who hasn't played in an Armory event yet, stores are given good prizes to give to players every month! Great times playing this game
The music in this one blew my mind!!! That part where the horns just all come in?!? Fantastic!!! I love you prof. Your particular brand of fun and smarts are my favorite.
I've never played the game, but I must say I like the artwork on the cards. Financially speaking, so apart from the fancy foil chase cards, most of unlimited singles are cheap and it is the first edition boxes that are the collectors' items? That sounds reasonable.
The main chase cards are the Legendary equipment, such as the Vestige of Sol pulled during the video. Which I feel it's important to note you dont need more than one of as equipment can easily be shared between decks since equipment is in play from the start of a game and never gets mixed in with the rest of the deck.
Majority of value is tied up in legendary equipment (50-150 bucks) and generic staple majestics (20-100 bucks). Most class specific important majestics float around 5-10 bucks or even less for less played ones. The initial cost to getting generic staples is high but every other character you pick up is much more reasonable since all you’ll need is 1 class legendary and a couple of class majestic. It’s still gonna run you a bit but it’s reasonable compared to other TCGs
Exactly. Unlimited is print to demand made for playing while 1st edition, while of course playable, is the edition that holds the collectable limited and exclusive variants. It's a great model.
The difference between the first box and the others was insane. Goes to show why you should buy singles whether it's MTG, Pokemon, Flesh and Blood, or even YuGiOh.
Sorry but buying singles in Pokémon isn't worth it, unless you're specifically targeting certain older cards. A booster box of new product is around $130-$150 depending on the set and a bunch of the top singles are over 200. Now, tbf, most of the hits are around $5-$10 each, but considering you get 7-10 hits a box (or more) the pricing ends up about even (and the $20-$30 potential loss from box price to singles is worth it for the potential to get a card worth more than your box)
Ya I’m newish to magic and put a solid sum into my first deck and now I’m just like now fuck it imma make a bunch of budget decks with badass commanders I like
@@martl8615 a lot gets tied up in the magestics and above along with those higher end rare foils, also boxes aren't all $100, you can get some as low as $65
@@martl8615 it can be absolutely but as with everything it will average out in the long haul, honestly believe that values will shift from L's over time with the occasional spike from previous sets. Tectonic Plating went from a $70 card to $125 overnight with the reveal of Oldhim lol.

Yea, wecome to rathe has some pretty generic art, though then again its because it was the first set. Every set after has been bangers after bangers with the art, imo. Even then, rathe's got a few nice looking cards! I think blackout kick and smash Instinct bight be my favorite in terms of art, just because of how gruesome they are in comparison to the rest of the box.
Thanks for replying! This was very insightful. Loved the couple cards you mentioned, I'm a fan of gruesome art myself although I tend to prefer creepier stuff like MTGs ad nauseam or phyrexian unlife. I think I'm gonna get into FaB. I'll see if I can get someone to teach me this Sunday at my LGS :D
I like the look of this game so far, really excited for the new Tales of Aria set, Guardian is my favorite hero class, and the new elemental aspect seems sweet!
Hey Prof I really like how you are including FaB more and more. I am still kind of recovering from WotC absolutely erasing any of my interest in TCGs in general... I really like what LSS is doing. Very good decisions so far. Looking forward to see this game rise up & to see more content here, on Tolarian Community College =) Thank you.
I feel like the wild swings of value is a bit concerning. An ideal model would be a decent set of $2-6 cards and maybe an occasional value card. After all if the print is unlimited the average value is always going to tend to the cost. (if it was higher people would buy more.) Having a swing of 200x the 'good' cards to the best doesn't seem that healthy.
I would like to see the prof start making starter decks out of his box openings and see if he can sell those to make up the cost of the next box. That may be a cool idea
I started this game a month ago and it is amazing, i play modern for magic and i am starting to want to play flesh and blood over magic. It is a great game.
Hey professor, I doubt you'll read this but. I was a fan of yours for years before I had my own channel and I was really really iffy on actually trying flesh and blood. It wasn't really the misinformation that scared me I had already looked into why it was fake. It was more so the fact that many new tcgs that have started up these last few years don't last very long. See force of will and keyforge as some examples. Plus I am so disillusioned with the direction that MTG is headed that I was ready to kinda just play commander and stop buying anything entirely. But then I saw your videos and decided to actually take the plunge and do the tales of aria prerelease. I absolutely loved it. I just bought the blitz decks and on a whim I started rambling and ended up making my first ever deck upgrade guide So to summarize, thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful game and reinvigorating my love for trading card games professor!
Prof, I just stopped by to say that you are a legend! Cheers for all the great content and being one of the funniest guys on TH-cam! Love the cameos with IHYD too.
A note, some strong staples are actually pretty expensive. 'Enlightened Strike' and 'Command and Conquer' are two such staples in most decks that range from between 70-110 USD a card. Depending on your hero your deck will suffer without these cards, but they're not mandatory by any stretch and, despite the fact that your deck will be objectively worse without them, they're certainly not integral to the core function of anyone's deck. Throw in some cards that do the same amount of damage for about the same cost or that have similar effects. A good replacement for Command and Conquer is Exude Confidence, which has a similar effect, costs no resources to play, but does 2 less damage right out of the gate. Enlightened Strike is harder to replace, because it can swing for 7 and all you pay is a card from hand into your deck, but if you play another zero coster in it's place you can make use of that other card when you otherwise wouldn't have been able to. Most non-'defence reaction' cards have a defence of 3 at most, so look for things that do 4 or 5 damage, which has a better chance of making them waste an extra card to fully block, and so much of this game is making your opponent waste his hand before it's even his turn.
Just shows how much LSS respects your work by not giving you a common card to spoil but a freaking awesome hero in cold foil. Thank you for another awesome review and glad to see that comments don’t have the “no one plays this game” anymore. Now with the unlimited price clarification over 1st Ed and the preview of Tales of Aria artwork hopefully we’ll stop seeing “the price is too high for a new game or the artwork is bad” comments. FaB is growing organically now, all the FOMO and price gouging on 1st Ed boxes seem to have stabilized as well. Hopefully no more “FaB to the moon” comments and let it be successful overtime.
I get my FAB boxes for $80 from my local game shop. Arcane rising has the highest potential value. Looking forward to Aria. Very affordable game. Got in second place with my budget kano deck versus $300 decks at my armories, only lost by 1 turn too, for first.
YES!!!!!!!!!! Love the spoilers. This is going to be a must have and miss build for me. Love the vestige pull. My very first box of flesh and blood was monarch unlimited and I also pulled vestige!
I think I will try to play Oldhim just because I'm a degenerate control player at heart and I like to see my opponents suffer :D Thanks for getting me into this game! I love it!
This...this game is affordable...especially for new players! That's so exciting! I love Magic, but it's becoming so expensive that I don't know how new players can keep up! Even the cheap cards are getting pricy. Seeing an affordable card game that may be good is such a relief!
Yes, yes this was quite an amazing showcase of the Booster Box Game with F&B, but Professor answer the REAL question...WHERE DO I GET THOSE SPECTACULAR TCC SLEEVES!??!
Not to knock your locale LGS but for the sake of letting people know, the avg price of a box on unlimited monarch is only 76 dollars, not 100, but support the place you can play the game at.
I will say...when FaB videos first started coming out there were more negative comments getting upvotes than the opposite. As more people hop on and actually try the game, suddenly the positive comments are winning out... Flesh and Blood and MtG and Pokémon and YuGiOh and blah blah blah can coexist. Its really easy. I just pre-order Midnight hunt and that was 2 weeks after pre-ordering a case of Tales of Aria. You can play more than one game on a relatively small budget. I'm a teacher and I can do it.
Yeah, 1 foil, 1 rare, 1 rare that can be upgraded to a majestic, and then a token, one equipment and everything else as common. I do not have experience with Magic, but I want to add that in this game, lots of commons are really good.
It’s an incredibly fun game. Also much cheaper to crack packs and have fun than MtG. I’m pausing MtG purchases and focusing FaB until Hasbro cools their damn jets.
@@xChikyx Yeah well MtG + Board Games is a ton. $200 and you could have a killer FaB deck. $500 and you’ll be 100% optimized and the difference in gameplay between those two is negligible. Equipment is the most expensive with old majestics coming up from behind in a couple of instances. Still it’s not a huge advantage to have these cards. How you play overwhelms their power by a ton.
I don't even play this game nor intend to, but I will definitely support a video made in partnership with a company who appreciates you with a view or two and a share!
I would love to attend this year at vegas but as a trainee in my job this year it won't happen but for the next year i plan to go there! Flights from Germany are not that cheap with a hotel :)
I have been watching your FaB videos with interest and really like the idea of Oldhim. I have been holding off on trying to get a deck started because none of the current heroes really spoke to me but this one looks like I might enjoy it.
FYI, Oldhim being a Guardian, he will be able to use Guardian cards from the first set Welcome to Rathe (WTR), the third one, Crucible of War (CRU) and the one releasing at the end of the month, Tales of Aria (TOA, but the card say ELE, I think it's a copyright thing). Also if you don't know, like the Prof said, there is 2 type of boosters : First Edition (being collectors edition, made for collectors and investors), and Unlimited, but the unlimited ones won't be available at the end of the month, but just a few weeks after. We don't have an exact date for the unlimited version.
Oldhim will definitely be a top tier hero and control style decks are a really great way to learn the game. Pick up FaB and you won’t go back to any other TCG the game design is insanely good
The Welcome to Rathe decks are the easiest to understand, so I'd probably recommend whichever two from that set look coolest to you (since all blitz decks are pretty balanced against each other). I do love the Monarch themes/heroes (Prism's my favorite hero for rule of cool) but they're very unintuitive when you're just learning the game, especially Prism. That said, if you're the sort of person who gets excited by impenetrable games like Dwarf Fortress, then you might enjoy the struggle of figuring out the Monarch heroes right off the bat (I say that as one of those players myself, and figuring out Monarch from scratch was what got me hooked).
Hey Prof, any plans to do a booster box game, or any videos really, on the Digimon TCG? I feel like Digimon is in a similar spot to Flesh and Blood when it comes to the misconception of prices. People think the game is a lot more expensive than it actually is, based on faulty information from the prerelease of the game back in November, rather than how prices and stock is currently.
There is an opportunity in these bosterbox-videos! I am an old MAgic the Gathering Player from 94. I got childen in 1998 and 2003. The second child made it nigh on impossible to get away to gamenights so I stopped playing, and collecting. I rediscovered Magic again in 2022, and stumbled upon your videos. I like the look of Flesh and Blood as well. Anyway, on to the "opportunity"-part... after opening three boxes of a booster set, why not make a follow up video about building a new deck with only the cards you have pulled. And tell us your reasoning in the process. I would love that. Then you could play that game in yet another video. Come on, these script really writes themselves don´t they ;) Love your videos!
I'm glad to see you work with a company that respects you professor

Now with the unlimited price clarification over 1st Ed and the preview of Tales of Aria artwork hopefully we’ll stop seeing “the price is too high for a new game or the artwork is bad” comments. FaB is growing organically now, all the FOMO and price gouging on 1st Ed boxes seem to have stabilized as well. Hopefully no more “FaB to the moon” comments and let it be successful overtime.
Glad to have ya on board Prof
I get my FAB boxes for $80 from my local game shop. Arcane rising has the highest potential value. Looking forward to Aria. Very affordable game. Got in second place with my budget kano deck versus $300 decks at my armories, only lost by 1 turn too, for first.
Love these FAB videos, my man! Keep it up! I have played Magic since Revised, but now >90% of my casual play is FAB. It is just awesome!
Have no idea how to play this, but I really enjoy the artwork
YES!!!!!!!!!! Love the spoilers. This is going to be a must have and miss build for me. Love the vestige pull. My very first box of flesh and blood was monarch unlimited and I also pulled vestige!
I need this soundtrack when I open packs. Thanks professor, and congratulations on the spoiler. Must feel good to be appreciated.
Love the card reveal. Exciting new set. Gorgeous art
The art for this game is simply stunning.
Edit: go to 10:00 and set the speed to 2x. The music becomes oddly good
I think I will try to play Oldhim just because I'm a degenerate control player at heart and I like to see my opponents suffer :D
Thanks for getting me into this game! I love it!
Laughed in the first few seconds because you can tell he is actually happy to open these packs 😂
Would have liked an explanation which slots are to be exptected in a FAB-booster.
Congrats on the FaB preview!!!!
This...this game is affordable...especially for new players! That's so exciting! I love Magic, but it's becoming so expensive that I don't know how new players can keep up! Even the cheap cards are getting pricy. Seeing an affordable card game that may be good is such a relief!
Really hoping more places in my local area start stocking it and putting on events. Looks like it could be a fun time
Yes, yes this was quite an amazing showcase of the Booster Box Game with F&B, but Professor answer the REAL question...WHERE DO I GET THOSE SPECTACULAR TCC SLEEVES!??!
Still waiting for my LGS to pick up FaB, for now I'm ordering cards online and playing at home with friends.
I really wish i could go to vegas, but i'll hopefully see you in Dallas later this year!
I don't even play this game, and I'm exited to see this
Edit: Wair a minite, each booter contains a foil????? omg
@@nataliefortune2392 i want to start playing, but I can't afford magic, boardgames, and this ahah
Love your Flesh and Blood content, can't wait to see everyone at The Calling. Its gonna be awesome. 🤘🏼
This game looks sweet, im gonna try to get my friends into this
Oldhim's """Young""" card is pretty funny. XD
Younghim, if you will..
Fantastic game FaB thanks Prof for the little bit of fun.
Pick up FaB and you won’t go back to any other TCG the game design is insanely good
Glad to see the booster box game working in different formats. Does that mean a pokemon card version is possible in the future?
I guess it depends on how well it does and how many active players of Pokemon or FAB show up to the vids (in the long run).
Prof I gotta ask, where did you get that gorgeous tie, I need that for my wardrobe!
Wow and they sent you an actual card for your preview instead of just a PNG file (like some other company)
I'm very excited to start playing Flesh & Blood. Some recommendations on what two blitz decks to buy??
Can't say for sure I've only just started. All are pretty equal from what I've seen, but Dash and Chane seem to be the two people like . most
The Welcome to Rathe decks are the easiest to understand, so I'd probably recommend whichever two from that set look coolest to you (since all blitz decks are pretty balanced against each other).
Thanks for making this video prof! Flesh and blood is a very affordable game to play if you buy singles
An old guy called Oldhim? Old + Him?
I've got to admit I kind of love it.
Thank you Prof for showing some fab content!
Awesome video..... what a Hero, what a Guardian..... cant wait until Tales of Aria comes out, its freakin awesome🤟🍻😊
Can't wait for Tales of Aria!!!
I love that you opend a FaB booster boix for this game.
The unlimited version is quit nice to open and easy to get :D
excited for the video on the commoner format! defo know thats up your alley
Come on, these script really writes themselves don´t they ;)
Love your videos!
