Nicely done. A couple of typos, but it had a nice flow. Growing up I always wondered why the NYPD needed to order a new fleet since the existing cars looked so nice.
They should have went with red and blue light bars from that time to the present time, though. The red and white lights make a lot of New York, Michigan, and New Jersey police cars look too much like fire engine and ambulance units in that regard.
Probably the only police department that uses cars from European Manufacturers such as the Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Toyota RAV4, Mercedes’ Benz Sprinter, and even the Smart is used by New York’s police

That second song was the best, the one right before the Hill St Blues theme. I would love to know what it is so I can play it in my car as I speed down the road evading the po-po.
@CGRSpaz650 your right cop is short for constable on patrol. Coppers is because of the old copper badges and "50" is because before two way radios they were on cb channel 50.
OMG! Look at 3:03, that's a 1998-2011 Crown Vic and it's say 1997! And I remember they change the color from blue theme white stripes to white theme blue stripes after 9/11 not before.

I remembered during the early 70s, my mother and I were walking behind a NYPD Officer on Fordham Road in the Bronx. This officer was on foot patrol and was cool, by twirling his baton and was very watchful. The officer was an old school Irish cop and was nice, but you didn't mess with him. If you did you got a tune up. We moved out of the Bronx in 74 to the Southwest and I ended up retiring from law enforcement after 28 years. This officer made a big impression on me.

@nntthh12 No your wrong. The NYPD in 1996 announced that they were changing the color scheme in 1997 to the white car blue stripes. And if you look at 9/11 videos. You will see that they already have the white car blue stripes.
I always thought that the term "cops" was actually referring to an acronym called Constable On Patrol, and the "S" were added either by a. denoting multiple constables on patrol, or b. a constable on their patrol routes, or patrols.
Dad used a 1949 Ford vs. unit depicted for 1949. Driving DCIP, they used an upscale Buick like Broderick Crawford used in first year of 'Highway Patrol", then a 1961 6 cyl Plymouth like they used in 'Car 54..." The show was filmed on location, so their cars were maroon so as to not be mistaken for RMPs. We left NYC 1966 and don't know anything afterwards.
In case some one else has not informed you, the term COP comes from England where the term derived from police reports using the term C.O.P. for Constable On Patrol.
the Crown Vic pictured for 1997 is actually a 2007 Ford Crown Vic which is the first year the Vics used 17" wheels. The Caprice pictured as a 1994 model is actually a 1992 "bubble car" and the bubble style was only used in 1991 and 1992

@itsGerbilsworld It was a budget decision: the NYPD found that slapping their logo on an already white car would be cheaper than paying to have them painted blue and logoed just before delivery. There was a report on this in 1996.
Anyone know the model of the NYPD car shown for 1985? I'm pretty sure the 1989 car is a Plymouth Grand Fury, but the 1985 car seems to have slipped my mind. Does anyone remember?
