    Hi Rob. Great video as always. I did hit big bear five times this summer and caught trout on four of the trips by the dam mostly on slip bobber‘s.

    Hi Rob. Great video as always. I did hit big bear around five times this summer and caught trout on four of the trips. All of the trout I caught were at the dam on slip bobbers or lures.

    Great video Rob! Thanks for posting! You sure did a lot better than I did when I was out there a few weeks back. Wow, the water at Big Bear looks putrid with all the algae this year. Don't know what day of the week you were fishing, but I don't think I've ever seen so few boats down at the dam when I was fishing there. Lucky you. Thanks for all the tips ... always appreciate your advice and rigging tips. 👍👍🤛🤛

    Nice to know that you can still catch trout during a major heat wave near the Dam. Slip bobbers seem to work really well. Another good day at Big Bear Rob! Tight lines!

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on how you like to fish. Some really love fishing just the jigs and some love the minnows. I fish them all as at certain lakes at certain times the trout get hot on the mini jigs instead of the minnows and vice versa. If you are just starting out I’d get the mini jig kit 🤘

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I think its solely the heat slowin them down. The wind would kick up and blow alot of that algae out. The water is fairly clear under the algae 🤘

      Thanks bro, I appreciate it. As far as I know the lake has been open all summer. That algae is in all the lakes and blooms every summer it just depends if it blooms enough to be unhealthful. It doesn’t harm the fish but can get you sick if you ingest it. If you eat fish where the algae is blooming just make sure you cook it thoroughly and you’ll be fine 🤘

    Hey bud, hope you are well. Wanted to reach out and let you know that your post was helpful. I was hoping you can recommend a spot where I can take my family to in about a week or two for fishing. We usually go out in November by the observatory. But since it’s going to be middle of July, not really sure where it is good to fish during the summer. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a shocking amount of water in the lake now. There isnt any shore available at the observatory as its underwater now haha. With all that water the hot fishing spots are all gonna change. That said red house beach and by the dam is always a good summertime bet. Additionally this is gonna be a mild sumner so the fish will probably hang out at in the east and the west all summer. Best advice or what I would do is try different spots all over the lake until you find something. Fish in the morning then do other family activities during the afternoon and then fish for a couple hours before sunset. The fish usually dont bite well during the middle of the day. If you have any more questions just let me know 🤘

      Thank you so much for letting me know. I appreciate the info. Just one less thing, we might be renting a cabin near Gilmer point or Lagonita Lodge. Do you think I’ll have any luck off of shore. The cabins are lakefront.

    Another great, informative video. But I have a question on use of braid for minijigging. I see you use both 4 and 5 lb braid. I want to use braid for the first time. Can't decide on 4, 5 or 6 lb Phenix. I have always used 2 lb p-line. Is there a casting advantage using braid? Again, love all your videos.

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dennis. The 4lb is easily my favorite. Some things to remember, braid has a bit of a break in period. Your first few casts arent going to be great but once it breaks in the casting is amazing. One of the drawbacks of braid is its very light and susceptible to the wind so you really need to pay attention or you can get tangles and wind knots. This can be a huge pain in the ass but the cast ability and sensitivity make it worth it to me

    • @dennis8198
      @dennis8198 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeaSpankerOutdoors Thanks for the reply. I value your info highly. Like your style of instructing. Looks like I will be entering the braided line game. Hope I can see enough to tie knots. Will be in Mammoth next week. Been using your discount code for GSF minijigs and minnows. Thanks again for your videos and excellent content.

      @@SeaSpankerOutdoors It's negative, selfish & disrespectful Jerry. The video creator knows that background music is used in 99% of professional videos because the majority of people prefer it. That fact isn't gonna change because your opinion differs. Be thankful that He has enough respect for the viewer to select an appropriate Western Genre that is universally un-offensive & suitable for all viewers. (w/1 exception, lol )
      Personally, I'm extremely grateful every time I'm not trying to be forced to hear Rap Music in a video. But I get it, It's not all about me. Attempting to influence others into making it more about me would be utterly ridiculous and a huge waste of everybody's time.
      And now look, negativity has sparked even more negativity...now I'm a dick.
      God Bless & Help us all....and Thank Jesus for the GSF'rs!!
