Kakashi was my favorite character because he was the only one that really looked like a ninja, he reminded me of Rikimaru from Tenchu game series. Its a shame the creators took away his sharingan, he looked so cool with just one and a scar beneath it :)

He never lost his eye. It wasn’t functional, so obito gave him his left eye. Kakashi isn’t an uchiha, so he can’t properly use the sharingan. Naruto is the one who restored kakashi’s original eye in the war.
In order to have the Sharingan placed into the eye socket means he lost his eye, weather it was damaged to the point he couldn't use it he still had to have his original eye removed and replaced with Obitos eye. which means he lost his eye.
Short answer: It isn't his sharingan, it was Obito's from when he supposedly died (also, he got double mangekyou from obito during the fight with Kaguya)

Well he has been living with sharingan ever since then, so he has been fighting & training using the sharingan nearly most of his life, most of his growing periode he use sharingan and then he suddenly lost it when he already reached his prime, so it's only to be expected that he became weaker without it. If he never had a sharingan I'm sure he'll still be as strong as he was with the sharingan just with a slightly different method of fighting.
For the people that don’t know how the sharingan works I’ll explain it : Kakashi isn’t an uchiha therefor can’t use the sharing like an uchiha. The reason kakashi is so good with the sharingan was stated in OG naruto which was he had the sharingan since he was around 14 (don’t quote me on the age) so he has a lot of experience with it. An actual uchiha can use the sharingan at will as it is there genetics that gives them the sharingan and allows them to unlock it. Also side note implanted dojutsu are constantly feeding off of the users chakra, we se this when Ao sees through danzo bandages to see shisui’s eye (ep 201) he also uses seals to make his sharingans on his arm deactivate .
Kakashi has been explained that since he doesn’t have the cell to deactivate the sharinggan so he covered it up to minimize the amount of charka needed to live
I believe he covers it to block the sharingans power since it’s always active. People seem to forget that kakashi is perceiving the world slower when he uses the sharingan so it makes sense he covers his eye to stop the constant power

I hope the sharingan doesn't come back. At the end of the war the meaning was that kakashi pain and regret of obitos death goes away when the sharingan went away. Even after it made him famous it was his mistakes.
Kakashi can’t turn his sharigan off due to him not being an uchia, if a dojutsu is transplanted into a persons eye that isn’t of that clan, then disabling the dojustu is not possible and has a higher chakra cost to use.
just read the official data books on kakashi hiden it litterally tells you that he cant deactivate the sharingan because it was implanted in him in that state and the reason he doesnt have it anymore is because the sharingan that was given to him in the war was temporary as it used the rest of obitos life force chakra.
To save time, it’s because when he had one sharingan he couldn’t turn it off. He said so. Then, when obito gave him the other eye he had both sharingan. It doesn’t make sense, but he said so in the anime.

Kakashi got the sharingan because rin transplanted obitos left eye into his left eye (since his left got cut.) He is a non uchiha, his chakra will get drained if he tried to deactivate it, thats why he has to cover it with his headband, obito gave kakashi the two mangekyou but then after he died i think that the eyes just disappeared and returned to normal.

something else of note, because of the sharingan kakashi was sorta nerfed in a way, i guess the abilities of the sharingan mitigate that nerf, but he became hokage for a long time and during the after math of the war, chances are he faced a few battles before naruto took the helm. and it is stated that hes actually just as strong because despite not having the sharingan, hes still a genius shinobi and can still replicate them, except now his chakra can be fully focused on his attacks instead of spread out between his jutsu and eye prowess.

From the title alone imma try and debunk this, kakashi could never turn off his sharingan because it was implanted, he isnt an uchiha, uchiha's brains work different when it comes to the sharingan, he covered the eye because it constantly drained chakra. Now why he has it off in boruto, when madada stole kakashis eye in shippuden to tp to the kamui dimension to get his rinnegan, he loses OBITOS eye which had been given to him like 20 years prior, when naruto used hos weird circle mark thing on his hand to heal kakashis eye, he restored the eye that he lost in the 3rd shinobi war, so he didnt have the sharingan anymore, when kakashi gets the double MS to fight kaguya, obitos spirit aparently enters kakashis body for a short while after obito fully dies, and when they defeat kaguya, obitos spirit leaves which makes the double ms go away, so in the end he lost the sharingan. basically having other's kakaygenkai like sharingan, biakugan, rinnegan will always keep active for all the time. that's why Donzo could never turn off his all sharingans. AO couldn't turn of his biakugan. Sasuke could never turn off rinnegan(he got it because of hagoromo's chakra) but in madara's case he can switch to sharingan to MS to rinnegan anytime which he want because he activated it himself by mixing hashirama's cell [which also kind of doesn't make full sense because he used hashirama's cell] and you will see all otsusuki can switch their Dojutsus. but the and another thing, as obito and kakashi each of them activated one ms at a time that's why none of them could use susanoo even with 2 MS but kakashi used it because when obito died he gave kakashi some of his Uchiha chakra and that's why obito's death activated kakashi's both MS again by himself, that's why he could used susanoo, but when then fight ends obito's uchiha chakra faded away that's why he couldn't activated it ever again. so basically to activate and deactivate sharingan you need Uchiha chakra, otherwise it will be always activated if u use someone else's sharingan eyes. and if u use your own eye as sharingan then the sharingan will fade away when the uchiha chakra will fade away from your body. 1. It is not his Sharingan, It's Obito's Sharingan, and as it was given by him it cannot be turned off
2. Kakashi isn't an Uchiha, he doesn't have the gene to turn it on and off.

I hope the sharingan doesn't come back. At the end of the war the meaning was that kakashi pain and regret of obitos death goes away when the sharingan went away. Even after it made him famous it was his mistakes.

Kakashi can’t turn his sharigan off due to him not being an uchia, if a dojutsu is transplanted into a persons eye that isn’t of that clan, then disabling the dojustu is not possible and has a higher chakra cost to use.
just read the official data books on kakashi hiden it litterally tells you that he cant deactivate the sharingan because it was implanted in him in that state and the reason he doesnt have it anymore is because the sharingan that was given to him in the war was temporary as it used the rest of obitos life force chakra.

Kakashi got the sharingan because rin transplanted obitos left eye into his left eye (since his left got cut.)
He is a non uchiha, his chakra will get drained if he tried to deactivate it, thats why he has to cover it with his headband, obito gave kakashi the two mangekyou but then after he died i think that the eyes just disappeared and returned to normal.

Kakashi lost his left eye when he was a child. Obito gives him the sharingan. "I wil give you my sharingan"not, "I will give you my eye", therefore, the sharingan is always active not being able to revert to his normal eyes. Kakshi lost left, obito gives left. Switching to sharingan takes more of a tole. He doesnt have to switch because obito is the gift that allows him to sustain the sharingan. Only tole on him is when he uses while its open.
Madara takes his sharingan leaving kakashi with his dead eye. Naruto revives his dead eye like how he revives guy. Obito gives both sharingan on top of having two healthy eyes. Having original powers, plus 100% obito chackra. Almost like naruto and kurama.

he was not an uchiha and his doujutsu didn’t belong to him, so that’s the reason he was not able to turn it off
From the title alone imma try and debunk this, kakashi could never turn off his sharingan because it was implanted, he isnt an uchiha, uchiha's brains work different when it comes to the sharingan, he covered the eye because it constantly drained chakra. Now why he has it off in boruto, when madada stole kakashis eye in shippuden to tp to the kamui dimension to get his rinnegan, he loses OBITOS eye which had been given to him like 20 years prior, when naruto used hos weird circle mark thing on his hand to heal kakashis eye, he restored the eye that he lost in the 3rd shinobi war, so he didnt have the sharingan anymore, when kakashi gets the double MS to fight kaguya, obitos spirit aparently enters kakashis body for a short while after obito fully dies, and when they defeat kaguya, obitos spirit leaves which makes the double ms go away, so in the end he lost the sharingan. basically having other's kakaygenkai like sharingan, biakugan, rinnegan will always keep active for all the time.
that's why Donzo could never turn off his all sharingans. AO couldn't turn of his biakugan. Sasuke could never turn off rinnegan(he got it because of hagoromo's chakra)
but in madara's case he can switch to sharingan to MS to rinnegan anytime which he want because he activated it himself by mixing hashirama's cell [which also kind of doesn't make full sense because he used hashirama's cell]

but the and another thing, as obito and kakashi each of them activated one ms at a time that's why none of them could use susanoo even with 2 MS
but kakashi used it because when obito died he gave kakashi some of his Uchiha chakra and that's why obito's death activated kakashi's both MS again by himself, that's why he could used susanoo, but when then fight ends obito's uchiha chakra faded away that's why he couldn't activated it ever again.
so basically to activate and deactivate sharingan you need Uchiha chakra, otherwise it will be always activated if u use someone else's sharingan eyes. and if u use your own eye as sharingan then the sharingan will fade away when the uchiha chakra will fade away from your body.
