This is a FANTASTIC comparison!! I can really hear the difference. I've been using the EV50 for years. It has served me very well, but there's no denying the QSC is performing at another level. I'll be buying the QSC now that I heard this. Thank you so much for doing this! Very much appreciated.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Yeah, I love the sound of these. For those wanting a bigger system and more bass, I'm sure the EV 70 and 90 will do well. I'm a wedding DJ with small to medium sized crowds. For me, the KC12s check all the boxes.
I put my headphones on and noticed the QSC KC was clear, full, and a wider sound, I’m really liking it a lot and may be the winner that I would invest in. I’ll head to a guitar center near me to listen to them in person for the final decision. Thank you so much for this video!!!
I just mixed a live duo with a pair of these, and they were very good. Detailed and punchy, with nice throw to the back of the room without being too harsh up close.
Thank you for this comparison! This is I am sure what everyone wants to see. I am shocked how much taller the QSC subwoofer is. And I like the height of it overall.
Honestly Qsc. They are such a smart company they really took time to work on this product and delivered once again. Everyone is talking about price but honestly this company never lets you down on reliability and having warranty! Heard it in person and wow super loud
I agree. They crank. I'm always willing to check out multiple brands and QSC set the bar higher by putting the top higher (see what I did there) and the 3-way design... they sound so good.
Bravo pour cette vidéo explicative & comparative sur ces deux modèles d' enceintes colonne, deux superbes produits pour leurs qualités sonores et esthétiques.
Thank you for the review. I agree with you that the QSC did in fact sound fuller, clearer and louder. So that's a good one. However, I noticed that you didn't mention anything about the QSC's bass reproduction vs the Evolves that would have been good to know though. Once again thank you.
Over my 26 years as a DJ I have been able to do many head to head tests and EVs always seem to start to clip warn first. If my last pair of K12.2s didn't both crap out on me within a week of each other I'd probably buy a pair of these, but my RCFs have been warriors for the last 4 years and still sound amazing.
I love this direct 1:1 sound comparison. I know it's through TH-cam, but I'm listening in my car with a really good sound system. The QSC is noticeably "wider" and deeper sounding, as well as more clear. Much better separation of lows/mids/highs. REALLY intrigued by these. Love that the horns are high enough to be above most people giving toasts at wedding...thereby mitigating feedback. 😊
Listened to the new QSC KC12s at Guitar Center in Houston. They do sound full, but as always the hi's are sort of harsh in my opinion. I prefer the warmer sound of EVs and RCFs.
I was about to buy the bose l1 pro 16. I am no professional DJ. I listen to this on Monday and it was crystal clear and it can get extremely loud! And the gains was 0 and everything just normal. My phone volume was a little over a quarter. I bought the QSC kc12 yesterday for $1600. For the price of LD maui 28 g3, i will take it. I mostly going to use it for house party of 30 to 40 people maximum.
Looks like QSC did a good job on this speaker. I too like the idea of added height. It's a good 9 inches taller than most systems. QSC also has a more powerful amp at 3000 watts max and 1500 rms. The EVOX50 has a max spl rating of 128db, the QSC is rated at 132db. That's an extra 5db which should be noticeable. When the clip light comes flickers on it's just a warning. Essentially the speaker is hitting at around 80%. On most systems if the clip light stays on it will start to limit. At this point the speaker may sound distorted but it should still be protected. I have a pair of the RCF J8 and a pair of JBL PRX One's. I use them for weddings and parties up to 100 people. In my case that's like 80% of my events
What about the portability. The QSC subs look heavier and harder to load into the back of a car. I’d be willing to use eq to compensate for the sound in exchange for an easier load-in.
The subs are larger, but only weigh a couple of pounds more than the EV. I own a compact SUV and I tried loading them in and it wasn't difficult in the least.
I think you're right. I'm looking forward to getting two of them and hooking them up in a big venue with my main system (Rane Four) and see how loud I can get them before the clip light starts to flicker. They seem to take a LOT :)
i love my QSC K12, 153's and 118's so imagine these will be just as awesome, the Evolve 50 was my first non QSC and that was for the form factor. The short pole for stage use is smart, I would definitely use that. @MikeSinclairDJServices
QSC seems to be set louder? Surely they should be measured to be giving the same volume and judge on sound. Instinctively louder sounds better? Thanks for the demo however. 👍
The Prime Go sounds great. I use it for ceremonies. The Rane Four is my Reception controller, but I didn't want to break out my larger setup to do this video, so I grabbed the Go. It's a sweet little controller though.
So based on this video, it seems the EV Evolve has a "cleaner" sound, but the QSC is a bit punchier and can handle more volume. It's price point is very reasonable too. I already own the RCF Evox 12 and I wonder how the QSC compares to that. I would love to see a side by side on that. I would like to add a second system so I'm definitley considering the QSC as it is much lighter than the RCF. I would love to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the RCF system. Great review by the way.
QSC sounded quite a lot clearer, easily able to pick out the hi's, mids and lows. But, I thought the Evolves had a much warmer and more natural sound with the vocals. For live performers I'd say you'd be better off with the evolves, but the KC12's for DJ's.
This needs to be compared to the rcf j8 and evox 12’s. I feel like they are more on par with eachother than the ev50’s. The subs cabinets looks to be more closer in size
I've tested the QSC vs the J& and the Evox12 in a ballroom. The QSC BLOWS away the J8. Doesn't blow away the Evox12 but for sure gives it a run for it's money. Evox12 still sounds better and has more volume and bass being a bigger system. I sold my J8 a few weeks ago and ordered the QSC today. Those will probably be able to handle 85% of my events. The rest I'll use my Evox12.
@@stevedub5006 Perfectly stated. I don't have an Evox 12 to compare it to, but I've heard nothing but good things. I was considering purchasing that system, but I want to keep the weight down and almost all of my weddings are 125 guests or less. I rarely do anything larger. It seems for a column array with a 12-inch sub, the QSC nailed it
@@MikeSinclairDJServices I have the J8s which are way more than adequate for 125 guests. About half the DJs that have them don't fully understand them, so they run the attenuator at 50% or 75%, which is like running an 8 cylinder engine at 50% or 75% respectively. I do a family event every year with 400 people on 10 acres with just 2 J8s and they are having us back for the 4th year in a row. That being said, I think the new QSC KC12 is louder, but it is also heavier and bulkier for travel. One of my deciding factors on the J8s was that the column stores inside the woofer so the travel footprint is much smaller than almost all the other column systems. We do weddings in about half the country and I refuse to pull a trailer, so load size is crucial.
I have the polar 10 and the EV 50s The evolve 50s throw ALOT farther, especially bass. The polar 10s sound GREAT, even better than the evolves, but they can’t throw volume or punch the same way. They sound great in small rooms and acoustic instruments sound amazing thru them, but there’s a reason the evolves are a lot more money. They are in a different class imo. I don’t want to knock the polars cause they are good but I’m always surprised how much bigger and punchier the evolves are. They seem to throw the sound especially bass, where the polars are very dynamic and sound great close up but 50 ft out they drop off a lot more than the evolves
I'm curious too. If EV releases an Evolve with a 15 inch sub AND a horn (spoiled on the 3-way now) AND put the top up higher, I'd be interested. If they keep the top where it's at on the 50, I'd pass. Having the top up higher is fantastic
i thought the Evolve 50 was more musical and the low end was smoother. The QSC's were louder but boomy and less natural sounding (at least through headphones.)
It's no question that QSC KC12 is superior to the EV Evolve 50. Probably closer to RCF Evox 12 as seen in Justin The DJ's video. But there are rumours that EV is launching new systems in a few days at NAMM so maybe EV will have a better option very soon!
One of the best DJs I ever heard perform at a gig built his own speakers and made his own lighting rig. I would hire him 100 percent of the time because he is definitely the sizzle. Im basically saying go for what you know that works for you.
The cost of these column array speakers is getting out of control, you would think something more compact and replacing two speakers for one would cost less.
@@MikeSinclairDJServices I agree they definitely make it easier for transporting gear, i used to haul subs/tops, and DJ gear to gigs weekly. These would have been nice to have, and aesthetically they do look better than tops over subs.
