- In this drive, we approximately follow Route 66 again from Albuquerque, NM to Flagstaff AZ. This portion is for the most part more interesting than the previous portion from Amarillo to Albuquerque. The most uninteresting part starts in Arizona where it's just flat plains for miles. It's actually so flat that Humphreys Peak (highest peak in Arizona near Flagstaff) is visible from 65 miles away near Winslow.
