MacPherson's Lament - on resonator, Piedmont blues style

this is a scottish folk melody. i first learned it on bagpipes, when i was in middle school.
if i'm an american, non-professional musician... and i learned this tune as a kid...isnt it functionally/factionally an american folk tune now? i think it deserves some "americanized" treatments like this...
