I appreciate these videos. They attempt to show a view “ beneath the surface. Where the artist mind is who created the work many onLy look, momentarily, at the surface and move on. Never understanding the artists meaning in the image.
Art is so much more than its surface when you take the time to look and understand. Munch, Van Gogh, Caravaggio, Gustavo Caillebotte and other were speaking to us using art. Art which we, sadly, have not learn to understand.
John Singer Sargent, William Merritt Chase, and hundreds of others are telling us something with paint. Contemporary painters like Rick Rotante and his “Stolen Culture” paintings tell us about native Americans.
Art is so much more than just pictures. Look beneath the surface.

Great observation! It could be the shadow of his chin or perhaps Munch was trying to show the marks of something, perhaps a rope 🤔
