I used to not be as conscious about price because I’m in a unique position where I don’t have to be. Well, that’s changed. Why? Well, I find myself getting a new mouse every year. Whether they just get too worn in to clean or look crisp, or there is just something I’m not super happy about, I keep going. My favorite tech was the Razer where you don’t have to charge it but the mousepad that continuously charged got worn in and started messing up the vibe of my setup. My second favorite and one I use now, which brings me to why I’ve become more price conscious… it’s the model O. However, I’m shopping a bit because I can’t stand that I constantly accidentally right click and would like a few more features on my mouse like side scrolling or continuous. But, to drop $200 on tech Razer is just going to forget about next year? I’m hesitant. Why aren’t they going with the continuous charge anymore? Why aren’t these new mouses at least compatible? It’s frustrating we keep getting a new gimmick that sounds good in practice, but then will be out with the bath water along with shiny paddles come next year. And to pay top top top dollar… these peripherals are starting to feel like gotcha games just without the novelty or even that of mechanical keyboard / keycap collecting.

thanks, just impust bought this at midnight on a Monday. My trusty G502 Lightspeed is finally showing signs of age after a good 4 years of service. Excited for the upgrade now.
I have the Basilisk V2 Pro and for the price of the V3 it's not worth the upgrade. However, after getting the Basilisk V2 Pro not even two years ago, I realized that it was better than any other mouse I had ever tried after 15 years of gaming on PC.
Seems like a really sweet mouse but I'll stick with the wired Basilisk V3 that I have, no sense in spending over $150 to get the V3 Pro. You're totally right about the cost of things over the past few months, but inflation in the US is totally F-ing up basically everything so nothing new at the end of the day.
On board memory on the basilisk v3 does not support RGB patterns. You need Synapse running to activate RGB patterns. Else it will be set to a default pattern.
Kinda refreshing to see a non-ultralight, featured-packed mouse. Not gonna be for everyone, but this will definitely be a huge cop for a lot of people. I also love that scroll wheel freescroll/tactile mode on the fly.
8:05 Okay Brian, I'm picking up what you're putting down. The Naga (which I don't care for) is up next for the refresh - which means that after that, finally, FINALLY - we'll get the Viper Mini in wireless.
the basilisk ultimate my favourite mouse has everything perfect for all type of games FPS,moba, path of exile plenty of buttons to change into specific game buttons love it
love this! I use a Basilisk X Hyperspeed for my setup but I bought a Baskilisk V3 wired for work cuz my work mouse was causing wrist issues. Now that I'm working from home I let my wife have it and she absolutely loves it!
Hmm, was hoping for a weight in the 90~gram area but not too far off. Also can we acknowledge the awesome gameplay of Brian just ending people's characters left and right while making it look like he is just warming up in AimLab or something
I just got one because my old basilisk died on me. I'm absolutely loving the feel of the buttons and the tweaked shape. I find the tracking on it more accurate too
Literally Just bought the wireless dock + wireless v2 a few months ago :( really kept dreaming of the dock doing the rgb rainbow until i realized this was released
Your video was a godsend. I had bought & returned 3 Razer mice due to Synapse not working, thinking it was compatibility problems. After watching your video I tried what you suggested and logged in as guest and voila, the software worked. My Synapse profile must be corrupted, as logging into Synapse only w/ my profile breaks the Macro module which works fine without an account logged in. Not a ringing endorsement for Razer account management services but thank you for allowing me to use macros.
I love the basilisk shape and I’m rocking the V2 with my laptop when I travel. If my viper ultimate ever does out I would pick this up but hopefully it will drop some in price.
I nabbed an ultimate a month ago for like $80 with doc and i couldn’t be happier. The scroll wheel on my glorious model o died after 6 months but I honestly never loved the shape.
I have a pair of Basilisk Ultimate's so I can use them for work and gaming with zero downtime on the battery charging. I have a drawer FULL of different gaming mice from the last 10 years, and I finally settled on the Basilisk Ultimate as my endgame mouse. The shape is awesome, the button placement is great and the sidescroll for me is an absolute must for gaming.
Alot of respect for Brian putting out multiple videos saying just because all this new tech is cool. Doesn't mean I gotta blow my whole paycheck just to fit in. Keep up the honest man videos! Really appreciate it!!
The smart scroll wheel has been my new fidget spinner at my desk. 😂 Hopefully it last forever because spinning the wheel and waiting for the clutch to catch, the spinning it again is incredibly satisfying. 😅
I haven't used a g502 in 3 years and I still reflexively flick the scroll wheel when browsing or working expecting it to spin. I'm glad this feature is being considered on new mice even if this one doesn't particularly fit my needs.
I’ll be honest, I struggle to see the work that has gone into making this video, but only because I can’t stop staring at that magnificent beard. One day I’ll tear my eyes away and be wow’d by the production value :)
Is there any info on dock qi power, like 5 / 10 / 15 watt? Can't find it on razer store. I'd swap my current qi charger for this dock, but if it's under 15 watt, then I'll just get a mouse with puck and use my old charger for mouse and phone.
the biggest issue i have with flagship stuff right now is mostly the like inconsistent upgrades with stuff i guess? certain mice come with extra upgrades that recently updated mice dont when it would be an awesome feature. New viper and deathadder? well only this one gets to use new charging dock tech. other companies do it too, (LOOKING AT YOU SUPERLIGHT AND UR NON USB C HAVING ASS), its like.... i get that they are working on this tech and release products when they are still really good. But to me it will always feel like we are chasing what could be the best of the best every single time because the next release will have an upgrade that the others literally just months or weeks before dont.
Dope. The new dock being able to handle different lighting modes is awesome. The old mouse dock just never matched unless I did something super basic. Hoping with the puck that they might try a new powered mouse mat with something like the power play the 4k polling and lighting wouldn’t matter. This is my go to mouse for sure.
I have the basilisk V3 wired for about a week and I've had issues with the smart scroll....sometimes when the wheel unlocks for free scrolling...it never locks again...no more tactile scrolling...I have to unplug the mouse to fix it...I think it's a software issue
I bought the OG Razor Viper Ultimate wireless when it first came out. As of today it has died a sad death and I'm using an 8 year old chunky mmo mouse that I hate. This is on the list of possible buys for now.
Wow.. Went from wired G502 to Basilisk x Hyperspeed. G502 lightspeed without usb C was no go, that Logi mouse pad didnt clicked with me. Looks like this is the mouse I was waiting for!
I may look into the Basilisk Ultimate now that it's discounted. Weight usually isn't that important to me when I'm gaming. This looks like something that I would definitely like as well.
Hate to hear it but I could help in some little way. Its tough out there sometimes, but keep pushing. That’s exactly what I mean when I tell people to stay up. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
why the hell did they made thumb button unremoveable i can't comprehend. that was the only reason i bought the basilisk ultimate and v2 over g502 in the first place. well, onto g502x then.
upgrading from a g502 hero to this. for like 1.5-2 years, ive been dealing with my mouse double clicking both with m1 and m2 to the point that i could hold my finger down on it and move it around without releasing the input, and it would look like i have a macro clicking for me. also had a problem where mmb wouldnt click down anymore but worked perfectly otherwise, so i moved mmb to the far, low button on the side where your thumb goes (sniper button?), and i had to get one with that same button because i genuinely fell in love with using mmb there lol. im hoping this will do me wonders and most of all last a long time
I'm still rocking my Basilisk Ultimate, but for FPS games, it's just too heavy. So the way I'm doing now is I use my basiliisk for everything, but when I want to play FPS, I just dock it and switch to my Xlite V2.
Tbh I grew out of the super lightweight fad pretty quick, and went to the Basilisk v2 Pro, and it has been my daily runner since. Don't think there's enough for this one to warrant an upgrade.
The wired/wireless 4Khz connectivity is likely important to a subset of users that consider longevity. The battery will degrade quicker than normal due to the increased charge cycles for 4Khz. When this occurs this means the user will face one of 4 decisions earlier than they typically would - RMA within warranty period, buying replacement/different mouse out of warranty period, user DIYing a replacement battery, or use the mouse wired but lose 4Khz. I realize though the cost difference could quite literally be +~$30 USD seeing how the chip industry is now - putting this way too far out of reach. We will probably see second gen products of this kind use a dual chip design costs come down to produce them and more people get 240hz+ panels to make better use of the higher polling rates to begin with.
That's a great point on the longevity piece - something I miss bc its hard to keep that perspective when so many review units show up here, but a great thing to consider.
We need to force the companies to sell replacement batteries. It's so wasteful otherwise. Swapping a battery is easy. DIY Repair culture is so necessary these days for purchasing power and ecological reasons!
I loved my Basilisk Ultimate while I had it, but I will not be buying another Razer mouse. I had 2 different Basilisk Ultimates, both experienced charging issues, the dock was tempermental at best, and the rubber on the sides wore down quickly and was not replaceable. On top of that, trying to do anything about the warranty was a nightmare. After fighting with them for several days back and forth through email, they finally agreed to send out a replacement first before I sent by broken one back (it was having problems charging, but worked on cable, and I needed a mouse). Only for them to pretend like they never promised anything. I'd recommend avoiding this one, regardless of whatever price you can get it at.
This is hands down the best mouse. I got 2 now. The shape is key. Also the way you thumb has somewhere to wrest vs other mice you thumb drags on the mouse pad. Ultralight mice aren't a thing for me. As a bigger dude I need something hefty in my hand I can toss around!
So it I don't need to run thier software in the back ground I will short list them for my new wireless mouse. Still rocking a few G502's but they are getting tired. 😀Can you turn of the RGB and it stays off? Great review, thanks for all the pro's and con's, keep it up!
Got the V3 with cable for just under 40 € on Prime Day, with the nice Chroma charging dock it’s a 200 € difference. The dock really looks nice, but not 200 € nice.

It’s frustrating we keep getting a new gimmick that sounds good in practice, but then will be out with the bath water along with shiny paddles come next year. And to pay top top top dollar… these peripherals are starting to feel like gotcha games just without the novelty of it or even that if mechanical keyboard / keycap collecting.
This could easily become the best productivity mouse out there and beat the MX Masters, which I always tried to avoid for their inaccuracy, but there's simply no alternative...if only Razer would decide to support Mac again
wish corsair or logitech would come out with some comparable stuff I've been using razer products for years but I hate the aesthetic. I am still going to buy this.
The prices are insane. I have the Basilisk V2, V3 (wired) and ultimate. I prefer the wired version of the V3 the best. After tax for the puck, dock and mouse I'm looking at around $300 Cdn. Hard pass but the tech looks cool.
I have the V3 wired too, can't imagine paying an extra $100 for just for wireless...I don't even notice the cord on the regular V3...its practically weightless
I have not been impressed with any of the keyboards I have had over the years and the print on the keys eventually smudges off. So when I saw the Mechanical Keyboards I really like them and looking at the Deathstalker and the Basilisk Mouse. I may also moving to get a new Headset, but to be able to use the wireless under one Wireless USB Key is a nice feature. I really do like the Razer brand from anything I have ever seen.
Love how the V3 is looking. But I'm not sure I'll be upgrading my V2 to it. I was only going to consider the change if there was a solid weight drop, otherwise I'm basically paying for different lighting and the nicer scroll wheel.
I was so excited like whaaaat, this bad ass got himself a wireless charge module. (using basilisk Ult right now) but as you mentioned it's way too pricey right now, I won't mind wait 2 or 3 years until my mouse died
Ive wanted an updated Basalisk ultimate. Hope that later this year good sales come on for the dock bundle. Don't need it per say but I've worn through the rubber on the Ultimate I have now so would be nice to get a fresh mouse but not for $200

Awaiting on the new naga I love the big heavier naga
DIY Repair culture is so necessary these days for purchasing power and ecological reasons!
would love a Mercury version of this
I love the g502 and since I'm a razer fanboy I'm really happy they released this mouse, 100% gonna buy it!
Wonder if this generation’s mice will be heavily discounted when more flagship products come out.
Still hoping and wishing for a razer viper mini wireless/pro 🙏
Great video man. Enjoy watching your vids.😁
This is hands down the best mouse. I got 2 now. The shape is key. Also the way you thumb has somewhere to wrest vs other mice you thumb drags on the mouse pad. Ultralight mice aren't a thing for me. As a bigger dude I need something hefty in my hand I can toss around!
My razer Basilisk V3 only works on a magazine cover and not on my mouse pad or table. Is it a lemon?
Whoa, whoa, whoa.. two videos in one day? What is this, Christmas?
Amazing content. Great videos Brian!
So it I don't need to run thier software in the back ground I will short list them for my new wireless mouse. Still rocking a few G502's but they are getting tired.
😀Can you turn of the RGB and it stays off?
Great review, thanks for all the pro's and con's, keep it up!
Good to see that they’ve binned the crappy old charging dock with pins and moved to wireless
Got the V3 with cable for just under 40 € on Prime Day, with the nice Chroma charging dock it’s a 200 € difference. The dock really looks nice, but not 200 € nice.
I used to not be as conscious about price because I’m in a unique position where I don’t have to be. Well, that’s changed. Why?
Well, I find myself getting a new mouse every year. Whether they just get too worn in to clean or look crisp, or there is just something I’m not super happy about, I keep going. My favorite tech was the Razer where you don’t have to charge it but the mousepad that continuously charged got worn in and started mess up the vibe of my setup.
My second favorite and one I use now, bring me to why I’ve become more price conscious… it’s the model O. However, I’m shopping a bit because I can’t stand that I constantly accidentally right click and would like a few more features on my mouse like side scrolling or continuous.
But, to drop $200 on tech Razer is just going ti forget about next year? I’m hesitant. Why aren’t they going with the continuous charge anymore? Why aren’t these new mouses at least compatible? It’s frustrating we keep getting a new gimmick that sounds good in practice, but then will be out with the bath water along with shiny paddles come next year. And to pay top top top dollar… these peripherals are starting to feel like gotcha games just without the novelty of it or even that if mechanical keyboard / keycap collecting.
Damn, I really wish it was light weight, I would really really consider buying it if it was.
been looking for a new mouse and this is an insta cop for me. trying to unclutter my setup and the wireless mouse will help
This could easily become the best productivity mouse out there and beat the MX Masters, which I always tried to avoid for their inaccuracy, but there's simply no alternative...if only Razer would decide to support Mac again
the mx master’s scroll will always be the king though
wish corsair or logitech would come out with some comparable stuff I've been using razer products for years but I hate the aesthetic.
@@lummoxicide1502 it’s not just wireless that’s new tho
I have not been impressed with any of the keyboards I have had over the years and the print on the keys eventually smudges off. So when I saw the Mechanical Keyboards I really like them and looking at the Deathstalker and the Basilisk Mouse. I may also moving to get a new Headset, but to be able to use the wireless under one Wireless USB Key is a nice feature. I really do like the Razer brand from anything I have ever seen.
After the v2 viper and v3 deathadder i knew the next mouse would be the basilisk v3
Love how the V3 is looking. But I'm not sure I'll be upgrading my V2 to it. I was only going to consider the change if there was a solid weight drop, otherwise I'm basically paying for different lighting and the nicer scroll wheel.
Old Logitech G502 with Powerplay still rocks.
Can we talk about how clean Brian's 10k was 🔥🔥
i hate the rubber side grip trims. They wear out fairly quickly and Razer does not have a replacement to "sell" not asking for a free replacemen
dam razer dropping hella products august such a great month for mice releases razer should end the month with viper mini wireless
I was so excited like whaaaat, this bad ass got himself a wireless charge module. (using basilisk Ult right now)
but as you mentioned it's way too pricey right now, I won't mind wait 2 or 3 years until my mouse died
I can't find the charging times anywhere, did you happen to test that?
Ive wanted an updated Basalisk ultimate. Hope that later this year good sales come on for the dock bundle. Don't need it per say but I've worn through the rubber on the Ultimate I have now so would be nice to get a fresh mouse but not for $200
You can get the Ultimate with dock for $80-99 now, which is probly the lowest it will go.
@@jamesw657 went with the new g502 instead, appreciate the heads up tho
does RGB profiles saved on the onboard memory as well even if Razer synapse does not auto-start with windows?
I like the new dock but I can't justify replacing my Basilisk ultimate just yet over a dock.
