    Hi everyone, I have found turning down the shadow values in the ini file gives you much better performance on the deck and improves the battery life a bit too.
    Here are my settings:
    Shadow cascade split distance
    0= 4.0
    1= 10
    2= 25
    3=300
    Terrain shadow map =8
    Shadow map count
    4096=0
    2048=0
    1024=4
    512=4
    256=2
    128=1
    Directional light =8
    Focus shadow res=8
    Ini files can be found in documents/my games. Change the low ini file. If you can't find it there, cryoutillities may have moved it so instead open up steam in desktop, right click game, manage and browse local files and open the low ini file there.
    Now getting 26fps- 30 fps in the busy part of Atlantas so big improvement and alot smoother too. I'm also running cryoutillites.
    Hope this helps 👍

      @@Diy_Papi Awesome! Should help out with lower end PCs too in theory. Not tried it yet on my PC as away on hols so been messing around with the steam deck and playing around with the ini files to see what can be achieved. Might possibly be able to refine those settings further but that's as far as I have got for now.

    brother, i sold out and got an ally, only because I was able to sell muh deck for a great price. BUT my brothers still have their decks so i still watch your vids so i can keep them updated with the info you provide. thanks again for doing what you do brother. WHERE them push ups at, if you dont film them they didnt happen lol

    • @Diy_Papi
      @Diy_Papi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ally is dope, to be honest my only issues is that it’s not that great with Steam link and the way it sits in your hand isn’t the most comfortable.
      Man I stopped doing that challenge at 685, I owe about 1200 pull ups lol.
      Maybe I’ll start it up again when I hit 2k subs but with pull ups and maybe something else that are kinda hard, Maybe assault bike calories?
      Let me know if you have any ideas!

    You should try the Steam Deck Essentials mod for Steam Deck, it improves average FPS and 1% lows, along with having optimizations for the SD card.
    I bet especially when compared with this you'll get a locked 30fps in most situations

    What do you think the sweet spot is ? You’re trying a super demanding game . Something like red dead where you can run it at 40 fps with lower settings or 30-35ish with medium settings. A 10-15% like you show could bring that to the “golden 40” people are talking about with possibly not much degradation to the system possibly

    • @Diy_Papi
      @Diy_Papi  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure why but when I’m on a handheld I don’t mind 30fps
      When I’m on a larger screen I totally become a snob lol
      I think the type of game matter also, the faster the pace, the faster the frames needed to enjoy.

      When I changed my tdp, it would not show the difference on power tools. Then I checked online and someone on reddit said that smokeless does not work if your steam deck software is up to date.@@Diy_Papi

    • @Diy_Papi
      @Diy_Papi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is up-to-date and it works just fine
      One thing I do know, power tools can be a little weird.
      I had to change it to performance and then make sure the TDP is set to the max
      if that doesn’t work set the TDP to the exact wattage you said it on in smokeless
      I had the same exact problem you did, a little poking around. I was able to resolve it, but just changing those power tool settings.

      Pretty much capped on the GPU, regardless of the TDP increase. (2100)
      Surprisingly enough I noticed by dropping the overclock on the CPU. I was able to get a slightly better frames.
