- Checking in on a queen castle settled in a 6-Frame poly hive. The colonies inisde were given grafted queens. The results ultimately were not that successful, but none the less, this was dividing the colonies into two boxes for expansion.
One has a replacement queen, the other requires mitigation as it seems the queen is a drone-layer. Such is the outcome of grafting sometimes.
Watch as I split up the hive, look for queens, and discover the states of both queen castle colonies.
I've never wanted to raise bees, but I enjoy watching beekeepers. It's so interesting to learn about where our honey comes from. 😁👋🧡

Every hive inspection is a game of ‘what’s happening here?’. There’s also a risk of being blind sighted by the story we bring to the inspection. Speaking from my own mistakes.

Maybe the newly emerged queen and the old encountered each other? I didn’t hear you mention the sighting of eggs, just drone brood etc.
