    Rene Auberjonois, 79, actor, singer and voice actor, has died.
    Generally recognised by the Fallout fanbase to be mankind's only hope of long-term survival, Mr. Auberjonois' passing may well sound a death knell for the entire human race.

    René Auberjonois, was one hell of an entertainer, at least i think he was and he has a rich family history which surprised me. His mother was Princess Laure Louise Napoléone Eugénie Caroline Murat who was born 1913 and died in 1986. She was a great-great granddaughter of Joachim Murat, one of Napoleon's marshals and King of Naples during the First French Empire, and his wife, Caroline Bonaparte, Napoleon's youngest sister. Wow i never thought one of Marshal Murat's' descendants would part of the sci fi star trek franchise.
    we will miss you Odo, thank you

    The episode that Rene is talking about where he turns into a bird is called "The Begotten" from season 5 episode 12, if anyone is interested. It actually is a good episode.
    Personally, I think my favorite episode is the one where everyone is chasing Chief O'Brien and it turns out that there's something about him (I don't want to give the end away for those who have not seen it. It's called "Whispers" from Season 2 [episode 14]). It has a really cool ending, I thought.

    • @alunrhys1
      @alunrhys1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In the spirit of your concern about plot giveaways, I would say in advance there is a slight spoiler alert included in this reply.
      I just wanted to say I totally agree about 'Whispers'. I think what makes it so great is that we see everything through the eyes of O'Brien, so we identify only with him and how he views Sisko, Bashir and the rest. Like O'Brien - we only learn the truth at the end. That's quite thought-provoking - a lesson about making assumptions without being in full possession of the facts.

    • @JustWasted3HoursHere
      @JustWasted3HoursHere 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep! Smartly written and executed. And when you get the answer at the end, everything we saw up to that point finally makes sense (like how Keiko treats him, etc). Very nicely done.

    In 1966, Rene Auberjonois was at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where I got to see him as the lead in "Charley's Aunt" a very famous late Victorian farce. Absolutely hilarious. (You can look up the plot on Wikipedia.) When his character agreed to take on the task of impersonating Charley's Aunt, he had to dash across the stage and leap into Charley's Aunt's black dress all in one go. Very flashy, and very funny. I was going on ten at the time and made my mother (who was a drama professor) take me twice.

    My country being a small one usually don't have conventions but some years ago surprisingly we did. We had Jason Momoa who was the one I wanted to meet (and he gave me a memory I will never forget) and we had Robert Englund and some other ones from Star Wars and Rene Auberjonois. I am sure that what they experienced here was a first for them. In London they have long ques and there is no talking to the "star". Well here there were no ques and people would just come over and have a chat with them and they could walk around the place as if no one knew them. And I felt so very sorry for Rene because no one came to chat or get an autograph at least I didn't see any and he just sat there and it must have been humiliating for him. At the time I hadn't watched DS9 but only maybe part of one episode and didn't like Odo but I didn't think he deserved to sit there by himself. Actors like to come here because people leave them alone and they are not used to that so they can walk around the city like ordinary people:) Well Michael Jackson had our old amusement park shut down for the day so he could go there and not be disturbed but I think he liked being "the star" because if he had put on regular clothing he could have had much more fun amongst people and no one would probably have recognized him

    Star Trek has become as big as it has because of that fundamental thing that makes René do what he does. It's what makes sculptors sculpt, musicians to compose, painters to paint, writers to write, audiences to be engaged in movies, theater or TV. Every person who creates something or enjoys something created by someone else do what they do because of one thing simple thing. Imagination.
    It's a fantasy world so far from anything we know and it's easy for someone who watches Star Trek to wonder what the future will be like. Will we ever be able to travel to other star systems faster than light? Will we ever meet other species from other galaxies? Will we even have space vessels that fly through space like our airplanes fly through the air? We all have it and we all share it in one way or another. That's what makes Star Trek so fascinating. Imagination.

I never liked Star Trek but a guy from my hostel always watched his vhs boxsets of all that stuff and I didn't realise how calming and safe having that show on can make you feel. There was one episode that impressed me, something about droids or borgs, I remember them being really scary. Omg, I can't believe I'm actually thinking about putting it on just now, I guess since I got a month of Paramount plus, I may as well use it since I nearly watched all the episodes of Kenan and Kel.

      Could he Shape-Shift, into Ice Cream? Oh, it says "Napoleon." I thought it said "Neapolitan." (Not really.)

    George Takei and Rene Auberjonois, have very different opinions of William Shatner, to say the least.

    Coolest thing about his makeup is that he could continue to play odo on any Star Trek and look the same age

    Odo was a favorite of mine. I recently rented the Pilot with 2 episodes. Oh how i wish i had the time to watch the entire series again

      Its so worth it. I kind of struggle with rewatching TNG and TOS, and honestly never made it through VOY, but DS9 is so strong, its worth a rewatch, particularly the Dominion arc
      Surprisingly though, ENT gets better with rewatches.

      I have seen them all and miss the joy, but there's so much to do and so little time

      Shayne O'Neill I watched Enterprise and I LIKED it. Season 4 was actually getting pretty damn good... people give it too much shit. :-)Re-watching all of the Star Trek TV shows is something I've been meaning to do. I think I've only seen TNG, DS9 and ENT all the way through, and this needs to be remedied.
